Chapter 867 – Darkmtl

Chapter 867

Bam bam bam bam bam!!!

A loud noise that shook the heavens and the earth echoed across the entire continent.

It was as if the previous assaults were just a game, as millions of zombies emerged from every corner of the world.

They began to march toward towns and cities where people had gathered, throwing both users and residents into chaos.

Through the Angel Guild and Holy Power, we had managed to take down five high-ranking dead ones.

Having defeated several key forces, we thought we had regained some stability…

‘Too many.’

This is way too many.

Everywhere I looked was filled with darkness.

Uriel wiped the cold sweat from her brow as she wiped out thousands of zombies with a single swing of her hammer.

Even though she had removed ‘merely’ thousands, the blackness didn’t fade away.

Kraaahhh!!!

Grrr….

Instead, they began to fill the empty spaces, screaming wildly.

‘Why all of a sudden?’

No matter how many appeared, they typically capped at about 50,000, so why were they launching a full-scale attack?

Clearly, if they came out this way, the demons would suffer significant losses.

“…Damn it.”

Uriel momentarily halted her pursuit of the clown and moved to a nearby large city to begin crushing the zombies as best as she could.

While the residents and users cheered at Uriel’s arrival, the situation wasn’t exactly promising.

Grrr!!!

Already, a wave of darkness that I couldn’t even begin to count surrounded the city.

Each of those black dots was a zombie.

It seemed like about 500,000 had gathered in this city alone…

‘Did Raphael know? Or is this an actual emergency?’

Uriel tried to contact Raphael, but all she could hear was her heavy breathing, as if she didn’t have a second to spare.

As she waited for a response, the communication suddenly dropped.

It seemed like Raphael’s situation had also turned urgent.

Support was not something we could count on.

“Hoo… right. Let’s give it a shot.”

Uriel gripped her hammer tightly.

Holy Power seeped into her weapon, and once again, she took to the skies.

Huh…?

And then she came crashing down.

Bam!!!

As soon as the hammer hit the ground, zombies shot up like popcorn.

Uriel unleashed her Holy Power and madly slaughtered zombies, but they just kept appearing from somewhere.

Even if she took out 50,000 zombies, there were still 450,000 left.

Boom!

“Seriously, it never ends…”

“Lady Uriel! We’re here to help!”

“Lady Uriel!”

“Let’s take out those zombies!”

In the distance, several people rode something from the castle, rushing toward her.

Was that an elephant? A vehicle made from magical stones? It looked like something Uriel had seen from a guild.

Originally designed for transportation, it had been converted into a combat vehicle for disaster response.

As the magical vehicle passed through, it caused pile-ups and sent zombies flying.

Zombies rushed at the vehicle in an attempt to destroy it, but the mages aboard unleashed Holy Power, pushing the zombies back.

Looks like they’ve gone with angels too.

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Uriel lowered her hammer.

“…I know the guild master of the black badge.”

“That’s right.”

“Are you alright? There aren’t any benefits or upgrades.”

“Honestly, what can we do? It’s more important to block the zombies and protect the people than to focus on profit.”

The guild master on the elephant vehicle smiled and said that.

Uriel nodded in agreement.

Even now, hordes of zombies continued to rush toward the vehicle and the city.

Small talk had to be put on hold; they had to block what was coming.

“What should we do? If that vehicle can hold off about 30,000 regular zombies, we might have a chance.”

“Not enough.”

“…That’s true.”

Thirty thousand wouldn’t cut it.

Under normal circumstances, with that level of force, they could defend and still have plenty left over, but this was an all-out war.

Roar!!

Uriel raised her hammer and smashed through the thousands of zombies surging toward the vehicle.

The sight of them turning into little more than puddles of blood left the users agape.

Cawww!

“Have you heard the news? This isn’t the end! Similar offensive levels are occurring everywhere, and we need to kill them all.”

“Kill them all… you mean?”

“Yep.”

“Is that really us?”

At her words, expressions of concern spread across the faces of the guild master and the users alike.

With Holy Power infusing them and levels and gear improved since the day of disaster, they still had their limits.

Just like Uriel, they couldn’t wipe out thousands of zombies with a single swing of a hammer.

Even if they had such a capability, there was no way to deal with the massive tide of zombies.

Uriel, too, wasn’t using this kind of power without wearing herself out.

“Those guys have numbers, but their individual combat strength is weak. Unless a high-ranking dead one appears, it isn’t impossible.”

“T-That’s true, but…”

“I have one request. You guys need to use the elephant to draw attention as much as possible. Then I’ll take care of the zombies. Simple, right?”

“Isn’t that dangerous?”

“We don’t have a choice. We can’t back down, so we have to─”

“Is there no support from other Angel Guild members? If others join in, it would be easier…”

“…Just start! I’ll do the hardest part myself!”

Uriel shouted at the users before diving into the sea of zombies.

Countless zombies reached out to grab her, but Uriel’s hammer was even quicker.

Bam!!!

Once more, the zombies were crushed.

The users on the vehicle did their best to draw the attention away from the city.

While their offensive power wasn’t outstanding, their defensive abilities were quite solid, so they should be able to hold on for a while.

Creak!

‘There are a lot of them, but they’re just low-level zombies… Even if there are some mid-level or high-level, it shouldn’t be a problem.’

They might collapse in exhaustion after this fight, but they could win.

I don’t know how things are going in other regions, but there were strong ones even among the users here.

‘Maybe they’d even be happy?’

They were always anxious to gain influence or contribution points.

Especially guilds with a tendency toward Jeokpeim or Raider would probably love this.

Kraaahhh!!

“Come over here!! You zombie bastards!”

“Guild master! That city is in danger too!”

“What? Hey! Bae-Hyun! Hyeon-A! You go and block it! If that city is breached, it’s over!”

“Got it!”

“Okay!”

A man and woman jumped out from the vehicle.

They looked like some elite users among them.

With a defensive system in place and several users and troops within the city, there shouldn’t be an easy breach.

‘I don’t think there will be an issue there.’

Uriel soared high into the air.

Zombies began to stack up, trying to catch her as she gathered her power.

Uriel had never learned any blunt skills.

It just felt good in her hands, and since she loved powerful strikes, she wielded the hammer, and after receiving strength from the angel, she had not learned any special techniques.

In this situation, there was no ‘master’ to guide her.

“…I wonder?”

But there was something she could refer to.

Someone who appeared later than her but wielded the hammer better than anyone else.

“Just like Lady Lily.”

She spun the hammer countless times, amplifying its power and speed.

In an instant, the Holy Power contained in her hammer exploded, and white wings flared from Uriel’s back.

With the hammer suddenly feeling heavier, Uriel struggled to lift it with trembling hands.

‘One strike to end it!’

“Hey! Elephant!”

“Yes, yes?”

“Get far away!!”

She swung the hammer down toward the black wave.

The elephant vehicle urgently increased its output and fled in the opposite direction, and just as the unaware zombies charged toward the hammer…

Thud.

Boom!!!

A massive explosion engulfed the surroundings.

Grr…

“…This is honestly annoying.”

With the explosion of Holy Power, all the surrounding zombies were annihilated.

Fortunately, the elephant vehicle was just outside the attack range, but it seemed to have taken some damage from the aftermath.

That would have to be dealt with later…

The problem was the zombies.

“Annoying.”

Grrr…

Not all of them had been wiped out.

Even after all this trouble, about 50,000 still remained.

She had no strength left to move, but perhaps the only good news was that the zombies were perhaps gripped by some instinctive fear?

Just a moment ago, they had been charging blindly at her hammer, but now they hesitated.

Though lying on the ground, they probably didn’t dare to charge in.

At least, it seemed they had managed to hold them off.

“…That was easier than I thought.”

Ah, of course, it had been genuinely tough.

Had Uriel not fought, a large city where tens of thousands lived would have crumbled, leading to severe losses.

In that sense, it had indeed been a perilous situation.

But Uriel suddenly had a thought.

‘Capturing them wasn’t as hard as I expected. No high-ranking dead one showed up.’

It hadn’t been about the sheer numbers; the dead ones weren’t strong at all.

There had been no news of any high-ranking dead ones in the alliance communications that had been in total chaos.

Rather, the reports had mostly been about ‘killing’ a lot of zombies…

“…Raphael?”

The communication was still cut off.

No answers came through, and neither the system nor even real-world communication was available.

“…Is this right?”

Or was there something she was missing?
