Chapter 407

Chapter 407 Demon Castle

Although this time, the original plan was just to gather intel, now that the car door was welded shut, there wasn’t much to worry about anymore.

For Ling Mo, the most important existence he wanted to protect was Xia Xinyan. He had said that he would only harm Xia Xinyan if he died, and he would always stick to that.

So he wasn’t actually very scared of this so-called Demon Castle—any presence that could endanger Xinyan was an enemy.

Just wipe them all out, simple.

Including the countless undead below. Initially, they were worried that making too much noise would attract more monsters, but now it seemed they could only go about it this way.

Then… let’s fully commit to the thrill.

“Are you serious?” the fat guy exclaimed, “If you do this, we’ll be enemies with an entire city of monsters!”

“As if not doing anything would make us not enemies,” Ling Mo shot him a sideways glance. “Or do you have a way to make them sit down peacefully for a negotiation?”

The fat guy fell silent.

Indeed, given their current situation, it seemed like it was going to be a fierce battle no matter what—they either kill or be killed, with no third option.

Xia Xinyan, at this moment, also came to a realization: “Let’s move. After clearing out the undead down there, we’ll regroup with Monica.”

After all, Monica was here too; if it really came down to it and they couldn’t handle it, they could just ask for her help—she had become their last resort.

But before that, Xia Xinyan still wanted to fight these guys with their own abilities as much as possible, as this would allow them to gather more intel and learn about the situation inside the Demon Castle, which she had no idea about. If they could manage to sneak inside and investigate, it would definitely be a huge help for their future expedition.

Just now, she did feel a bit scared, but after understanding things, she no longer felt fear.

She had faced countless demon armies in her past life, and now she had so many companions. If she were to back down now, it would just be embarrassing.

Plus, she had always been confident in her own strength.

And Ling Mo’s strength.

Ling Mo was quite straightforward; upon hearing her words, he immediately fired a devourer bomb downwards, the warhead exploding against the numerous biological bombs that were firing up, causing a massive explosion upon impact that obliterated a large area. As the smoke cleared, the enormous crater left behind showcased the bomb’s power.

The fat guy’s eyebrows jumped: “Damn! If you throw a few more of these, you could probably turn the whole city to ash!”

Ling Mo looked toward the still standing Demon Castle in the distance: “But that thing won’t be affected by explosions.”

That was what weighed most heavily on his mind.

If that castle was immune to explosive attacks, then it meant he was at a disadvantage.

But it was also understandable; after all, this thing was probably equivalent to the final boss for their showdown. If it could be blown up in just a few hits, that would be abnormal.

“So what’s your plan now?” the fat guy asked instinctively.

He felt that he wouldn’t play a significant role this time; in such a big scene, the most his abilities could do was make some noise. If they were looking for real firepower, they had to rely on Ling Mo.

“Find a way to get into that castle,” Xia Xinyan suddenly said. “To solve the spatial blockade here, we have to find the source inside.”

Ling Mo nodded, then materialized a cannon mounted to him and Xia Xinyan—filled with devourer bombs, to take care of the undead below.

Then, he hugged Xia Xinyan tighter and tossed a “stay close” to the fat guy before charging towards the castle.

The control stick for the cannon was on Xia Xinyan’s side. Without Ling Mo needing to say anything, she intuitively took control and dropped the care bomb into the densely packed monster area below.

Wherever it passed, nothing was left intact.

The fat guy followed closely behind, his heart racing.

Booming explosions and massive clouds of smoke continued to rise below, even shaking the dark clouds above. After this carpet-like destructive onslaught, it seemed the city was about to be wiped off the map.

They could at least make a little water for a man-made lake.

It was yet another experience for the fat guy to feel Ling Mo’s terrifying power—what was most impressive was that as long as conditions permitted, he could create maximum destruction with minimum cost and effort. Just now, casually materializing a bomb could obliterate a large area. With just that, no one in the world could compare to him.

For a moment, the fat guy even felt that he could kill all the demons single-handedly.

Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan obviously had no idea what the fat guy was thinking. After the cannon’s ammo was expended, they were nearing the castle, but where they passed by was no longer a good place. When they arrived, they could still see remnants of the city, but now it looked more like an alien planet.

The good news was that most of the undead had been successfully exterminated by the physical assault, and the annoying biological bomb anti-aircraft artillery had finally quieted down.

But those were just the lowest-grade expendables; their real opponent, the demon, hadn’t even shown up yet.

It wasn’t until they got closer to the Demon Castle, gazing up at its towering peaks piercing the clouds and feeling the immense pressure radiating from within, that Xia Xinyan’s previously ventilated mood became heavy again.

“Be careful, it’s definitely very dangerous inside.” She whispered while searching for a way in, “It’s best we wait for Monica and the others to come before we enter together.”

Since it was a team, they shouldn’t act alone.

She didn’t want to encounter the same situation as in her last life, for both herself and Ling Mo.

Ling Mo also listened to her: “Alright, we’ll wait a moment.”

“No need to wait,” Monica’s voice soon came through the communication device, “We’re right under the castle; you’ll see us when you come down.”

Xia Xinyan looked down and indeed saw Monica and the others in front of the castle, even closer than she and Ling Mo were.

Ling Mo immediately brought Xia Xinyan over, and by this point, Xia Xinyan finally landed after being carried out of Ling Mo’s arms—but she was already used to it, and even felt no discomfort anymore: “How did you guys discover this castle?”

Looking around, the castle had burst out of the ground, causing a deep sinkhole around it, turning the area into ruins. A lot of dirt and rock were piled up on top of the castle, yet it hadn’t caused the slightest damage to it, as if it had always been there.

Monica shrugged: “I just suddenly found a big thing underground and tossed a bomb over to test it out—and it brought it up.”

Xia Xinyan: “…”

Has this guy caught Ling Mo’s infection?
