Chapter 212 – Darkmtl

Chapter 212

Chapter 212 Who Explodes Better

Xia Xinyan was similarly taken aback for a moment.

If she guessed correctly, this airspace mothership—so out of place with the entire city—should be the Control Hub in their mission, though she hadn’t expected it to appear in such a form.

Could it be that Monica had been forced into a corner?

Speaking of which, the exterior of this airspace mothership… wasn’t as handsome as the one she had manifested before her death in her previous life.

—Other people didn’t have her leisure to think about such chaotic things. Once they confirmed their situation was in absolute danger, everyone sprang into action, trying to escape this place as quickly as possible.

Murong Yue was the first to sprint toward the last plane: “Get on the plane and leave! What are you waiting for?!”

The fat guy hurried after her, panic etched on his face: “Wait, does anyone know how to fly this thing?!”

“Can’t you switch to simple driving mode?!” Murong Yue had already climbed into one of the planes, diving into the cockpit. “It’s not locked, you can start it directly! Don’t waste time!”

Summer Jincang rushed to Xia Xinyan’s side: “Xinyan, let’s go!”

Xia Xinyan pulled Ling Mo along: “Time to go!”

Summer Jincang: “…”

While everyone was hastily trying to escape, they also noticed a massive hatch had opened at the underside of the airspace mothership, revealing a glowing orb that was growing progressively brighter—though it was unclear what it was, it definitely didn’t seem like a good thing.

Meanwhile, the spire’s tremors were growing more intense, with muffled sounds reverberating below as if it was about to collapse entirely.

All signs indicated imminent danger, compelling everyone to quicken their pace.

Fortunately, there were enough planes at the back, and even though each had only two seats, it was more than enough for their group to escape.

Xia Xinyan ignored Summer Jincang’s resentful glare and hopped into the same plane as Ling Mo, with Ling Mo at the controls and her at the fire control position—though in the face of that colossal ship, she figured they wouldn’t be much help.

It’s worth mentioning that before boarding the plane, she glanced at the armory door, only to find Monica was already gone, probably off to do her own thing, while the Resistance Army hadn’t made it up to attack yet—maybe they had already fled, considering the Control Hub was personally intervening and there was no need for a bunch of puppets to confront them.

Murong Yue, being the first to board a plane, was the first to take off from the spire’s top, followed by Tian Yi and Zhu Di. Summer Jincang shared a plane with the fat guy, tailing Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan as they flew out of the spire.

During this time, the high-energy alarm inside the planes had not stopped blaring, and the orb under the mothership was growing brighter, threatening to become a miniature sun. And whether it was a coincidence or a game mechanic, just after the last plane had taken off, the orb beneath the mothership suddenly exploded, shooting a beam of light directly toward the top of the spire.

Then—

Everyone saw the sun.

If we’re talking about explosive power, the things Ling Mo had tossed in the tower before and even the two chainsaws the fat guy had at the end probably didn’t even add up to a tenth of this explosion’s strength. In an instant, the entire spire was reduced to mere foundations, and the tremendous shockwave sent the planes that hadn’t flown far reeling in a stunning rollercoaster ride.

Fortunately, high technology lived up to its name; even with such an outrageous explosion, the planes withstood the ensuing shock, suffering only minor damage except for the fat guy’s and Summer Jincang’s plane, which had taken some scratches, while the others remained largely unscathed.

However, since they had already made their move, the airspace mothership wouldn’t give them much time to breathe. Before the earlier explosion had fully settled, alarms triggered by high-energy weapon locks echoed inside all the planes again.

Once they boarded their planes, communication among them was cut off; for now, everyone could only look after themselves.

“Xinyan, what do we do now?” Ling Mo asked quietly after stabilizing their flight posture, glancing up at the imposing mothership.

“Force our way onto the ship and take them down,” Xia Xinyan replied, not hesitating in the slightest.

The armament on their plane probably wouldn’t even tickle that mothership. This game wasn’t like the great aerial combat games; in a real dogfight, none of their planes would be able to fit anywhere near that mothership. Compared to this suicidal attack, boarding the ship seemed like a more sensible move.

After all, their goal was to destroy the opponent—wasn’t it all about who could explode better? With Ling Mo on her side, was she even going to worry?

At the very least, they had a fat guy on their team.

“Alright.” Without a second thought, Ling Mo pushed the throttle all the way in, directly flying towards the mothership.

Xia Xinyan then took control of the plane’s fire control system, and judging by the feedback, this time the mothership didn’t use the destructive ray but rather launched standard missile attacks, which could be slightly interfered with using heat flares…

—Then she saw the attacking weapons released by the mothership.

Indeed, they were missiles, but given their overwhelming number, there had to be over a hundred of them!

“Ling Mo! Watch out!” Xia Xinyan quickly released all the heat flares, and Ling Mo swiftly adjusted the plane to evade.

The other planes pretty much followed suit, releasing a large volume of heat flares that created a massive smokescreen in the air, causing the majority of missiles to lose their targets—but when luck ran dry, even getting hit by just one or two wasn’t an unlikely probability.

The only hit was on Tian Yi and Zhu Di’s plane.

Xia Xinyan noticed that after their tail was struck, the plane began to plummet—mercifully, the two ejected in time, and Tian Yi hurried to scoop up Zhu Di, heading back towards the mothership.

She sighed a bit in relief: “Ling Mo, let’s hurry up too; the longer we wait, the more dangerous it gets.”

At least on the mothership, there was a chance to fight back; in this plane, they were just empty cans in the sky.

She couldn’t fly.

Ling Mo nodded, pushing the throttle again, finally arriving just before the second wave of attacks came raining down on them.

The mothership was currently hovering, with several anti-air weapons on the deck. As they flew up, those weapons immediately locked onto them. Ling Mo took a deep breath, lowered the airspeed, then suddenly gripped Xia Xinyan tightly: “Get ready! We’re just jumping down!”

Xia Xinyan paused for a moment.

But she didn’t say anything; instead, she transformed into a kitten and nestled into his arms.

This guy…

Tsk.

Ling Mo seemed a bit unaccustomed to having his girlfriend turn into a cat out of the blue. He awkwardly adjusted his grip to protect her, and as the plane neared stall, he detached from the cockpit, sending the plane crashing straight into the soldiers pouring out from the deck while he conjured a massive, ultra-soft cushion with sliding wheels right in front of him.

Just then, Tian Yi and Zhu Di, who had just flown in, were hit right in the face by the suddenly appearing cushion.
