Chapter 39

What should I do?

BAM!

An unexpected problem has arisen!

The people I sent my memories to don’t want to summon me.

Here’s where it all started. After collecting memories of Yasle’s summoning incident, I cut them up and sent them piece by piece. The reason I didn’t send them all at once is that people can’t withstand memory transmission and die.

So, I conducted an experiment, gradually lowering the capacity and then increasing it bit by bit until I found the maximum point to send.

But some quick learners used just the memories I sent to cast spells that Yasle used.

Yep.

No matter how much I look at those memories, I can only see that part about summoning me. But some people understand the principles from those memories and start using simple magic. How do they do that?

Anyway.

They can use new magic.

That’s the fundamental problem.

All the light falling on me, who is sinking like the cold sea below the surface, is from people who have deeply despaired and resigned themselves.

However, when blessed, they fundamentally gain powerful strength. Just in case, I conducted a thorough investigation, and it turns out that not only did their physical abilities improve before and after receiving my blessing, but their intelligence also increased.

There are varying degrees from person to person, but overall, their physical bodies improve. And if they’re lucky, they even gain special abilities.

So far, out of 797 individuals, 236 have gained abilities. About 30% gain abilities. Isn’t that a pretty decent probability?

Just to clarify, when I say individuals, it’s because there aren’t just humans.

By the way, in the world where I was summoned, I blessed a total of 542 people. The rest are just the number of lights that have fallen on me over time.

Every single person who received that blessing became stronger.

Incurable wounds healed, they became younger, stronger, smarter, and some even gained special abilities.

Most problems are solved when the body gets healthy and strong.

That’s already a problem in itself, but people who are smart enough to understand Yasle’s knowledge can even use magic.

Many people show dramatic improvements before and after the blessing.

Yes. That’s the biggest problem.

If they gain the power to escape a tough situation, they won’t have the need to summon me.

But if I wait for the blessed ones to become unfortunate again, the timing for their misfortune is way too ambiguous.

It’s not being marginalized or abandoned; it’s the moment they get their heads chopped off.

They end up running rampant with the power they suddenly gained and, in failing to achieve their goals, they get killed.

It’s a dilemma.

To give knowledge to those desperate enough to call me, I must first bestow them a blessing.

But if I give them a blessing, there’s no need to summon me.

When I was in that world, I could impact those with little warmth, but under the surface, I can’t do anything.

Not only was my consciousness pulled up, but it seems my actual body was also raised up. That’s why I could interfere in that world.

Now that I’ve come back down, I can’t interfere with that world anymore.

Speaking of coming down, a scene comes to mind.

Back then.

I remember seeing cracks forming in the air when I tried to make a phone. What would have happened if I just put in power then? Would the warmth have increased? Or would I have fallen through that crack again?

There’s so much I don’t know.

At times like this, you have to take it slow and step by step.

First, let’s see if the blessed person can summon me.

What should I do?

I’m pondering.

How can I make them summon me?

What can I do?

First thing.

I can bestow blessings.

To be precise, I transfer myself to them. Then, the light they hold turns black, and their bodies mutate.

We call this blessing.

Those blessed grow stronger.

Sometimes they gain special abilities. They could manipulate elements like fire, water, lightning, or wind, or freely change their size, or even regenerate instantly if an arm is severed. Some have even gained the ability to tap into another person’s mind.

This is good.

But let’s think about the other side too.

From a third-party perspective, the bad side.

I can steal warmth.

And if I just take warmth from a living person, they turn into monsters.

I couldn’t help but think that maybe I also became a monster after having my warmth robbed.

But the first person I took warmth from turned into a monster and felt an intense chill.

Then, to obtain warmth, they attacked the person in front of them. However, the warmth of the person they attacked got drawn to me.

Not the attacking monster, but to me.

Let’s make a hypothesis.

That monster became infected by me.

There’s a tale of a vampire who drinks his victim’s blood, and then the corpse rises to become a bloodthirsty zombie, right?

Just like that, if they lose warmth to me, it could be seen that they’ve become a lesser entity than me.

However, this is a bit vague. When that monster saw me, it looked at me as if sizing me up like prey before selecting a different target.

After that, I don’t know. Its face was covered in a white shell, so I couldn’t read its expression.

But it was terrified of me. Was it afraid because it’s completely alien to me? Or maybe because I’m the one giving orders?

Whichever it is, if the monster transformed kills another person, I gain warmth. In other words, I can create unpaid workers to exploit.

Not bad. I like it. It’s the most efficient way beyond thought. I can use them at will and toss them aside, right?

But this isn’t a good method.

The part about descending into a mindless monster is particularly bad.

Because simple enemies are easy to kill, right? There’s no guilt, and you can think of it as a job while slaughtering.

Let’s use an example.

In a shooting game, zombies. They look human, but killing them brings no guilt whatsoever. They’re monsters that eat people, they’re already dead, and they lack reason. For various reasons, there’s no psychological burden to hunting them.

If this continues, they’ll eventually be hunted without a question.

It’s good at first when it spreads like a plague, but the next part is the issue. You see it in all kinds of plague simulator games, right?

If the infection is low and the mortality rate is too high, people will quickly find a cure. If I create monsters out of warmth, they might find a solution I didn’t think of and kill those monsters.

I realize that if I have to do something, spreading is more important first.

So, blessings are better than warmth.

It doesn’t necessarily bring bad results to those around them. No matter what the substance is, it’s just power; it appears there’s no such thing as good or evil.

But people who receive blessings give off warmth more than expected.

When someone is pushed to the extremes, they use the strength gained to tackle their difficulties.

And due to their experiences in extreme situations, they tend to choose violence over conversation.

Someone once said, “What kind of worries can you have when there’s no rice at home?”

It’s not about right or wrong.

Human nature isn’t that simple; a person with leisure will concern themselves with that.

What matters to me is, where is the higher probability?

Are there more people who act rationally in extreme situations? Or more people who just want to survive?

Purely considering it, probably more people will want to live.

And violence will inevitably bring forth revenge.

Of course, the one who commits violence could be in the right. The one who got hit might be the evil one.

So, if that evil person gets hit, is it their karma, or should they blame the one who hit them?

The blessings will certainly bring forth more warmth.

Yes. More warmth.

I can bide my time.

I’ll choose the option with the larger total sum.

In other words, my strength is in giving blessings. I’ll just set aside warmth for now. That’s a problem to think about when I go to that world.

First, I need to sell my strengths.

How should I sell them?

Let me sift through all the memories I’ve gathered so far.

Hmm.

Oh.

There was something that always jumped out at me on internet video sites, right? Exactly, various forms of media have ways of spreading specific information to people.

Advertising.

What if I inserted my advertisement while giving memories?

“Receive even more blessings to those around you!” If I insert content like this, one of them might bite.

Especially, I don’t believe there are just a few people like Yasle and Andrew. There’s definitely a lot more.

Even the memories of the faded man have this kind of thing.

They say a small church only needs 80 people to properly operate.

With that, they say they can break even and be stable.

Yes. For some people, religion is a business. Wouldn’t blessings be a tremendous business item for such people?

I’ve actually seen and experienced this kind of business up close.

Surely, looking at my advertisement, someone will come to summon me.

Yes. I’ve decided.

Though it will take a while to insert all the necessary memories into one person, I’ll insert ads in between.

What kind of advertisement would be good?

Can you hear me? Can you hear my voice? Should I start with this and eventually imitate that backstabbing goddess from some game?

I hope there’s someone who mindlessly calls on me like a cosmic horror piece. No, I got off track; most of those show people who are crazy for alien knowledge, so there’s little useful information in it.

Hmm.

Let’s keep it simple for now.

“Call me with this knowledge if you wish for more blessings.”

This line carries a bit of trickery.

It sounds like they could gain more power for themselves, right? I meant to say that I spread the blessings to more people, but it can be interpreted differently.

However, depending on the language, I might have to change the phrasing a bit. Some nuances might require completely different words.

But the basic framework remains the same. It sounds like I’m giving the other party benefits, but in reality, it’s for my own gain.

I’ll try to make short and simple phrases to stimulate desires as much as possible.

Isn’t that what advertising is about?

Besides, there are no laws, right?

Hehe!

I’ve made my advertisement!
