Chapter 127

Chapter 127 Discovered a New World

After a moment of silence, Xia Xinyan asked, “Did you complete the mission?”

Ling Mo frowned slightly and shook his head. “No.”

The game system provided no prompts.

Xia Xinyan also hadn’t received any completion notification.

She looked around, deep in thought.

From the current performance of the Hunter, they were much weaker than she had imagined; they weren’t up to the task of hunting them down. Perhaps the Mechanical Soldier posed some threat, but that Taoist was really subpar; she could not handle him, but if Ling Mo faced him, it would be like bullying a child.

Overall, it did not align with the difficulty of Dungeon [Medium].

Could there be other Hunters?

Or are they still alive?

Xia Xinyan stared at the scattered remains of the Mechanical Soldier for a while.

She didn’t believe such fragmented remains could be pieced back together; besides, the other Taoist was completely obliterated. However… this was just a game, so anything could happen.

Still, they were lucky to have snagged a few talismans and a grenade launcher so quickly.

Unfortunately, Ling Mo had turned the Taoist into dust with a grenade; otherwise, they could have probably found a few talismans.

Ling Mo, unaware of her lament, saw her examining the spot where the Taoist had stood and said, “Could it be that we need to eliminate the other Hunters to clear this?”

“Maybe.” Xia Xinyan didn’t dwell on it. “Didn’t you mention seeing some commotion in the city? Let’s find the others first.”

We’ll deal with whatever comes our way.

Ling Mo nodded and led her back in the direction they came.

Now, without experiencing fatigue as a zombie, and after getting used to his sluggish body, his mobility had noticeably increased. He could maintain his speed throughout the journey, and it didn’t take long before they returned to the city.

As a ghost, Xia Xinyan also had a decent speed while floating. However, she barely managed to keep up with Ling Mo, which she found quite ridiculous.

A ghost moving slower than a zombie.

Ling Mo noticed this as well, so once they entered the city, he slowed down slightly to allow Xia Xinyan to keep pace alongside him, while remaining vigilant of their surroundings to prevent Xia Xinyan from being abducted again right under his nose.

He was almost staring at the ground while they ran.

Xia Xinyan watched from behind, fearing that if he stumbled, he’d take a nasty fall.

At that speed, if he tripped, he’d likely scrape his face.

Though for a zombie, that damage didn’t seem to matter—it’s just that skin is quite important, right?

Fortunately, Ling Mo was fairly coordinated and avoided making her worry too much… cough, not letting her stress out too much.

And as Ling Mo said, the city had completely descended into chaos.

One could hear police sirens everywhere, and occasionally spot police cars racing in various directions—yet not just one direction—indicating that everyone was busy.

“It seems they split up,” Xia Xinyan frowned slightly, following one of the police cars as it took off in a specific direction. “Let’s check out that way first.”

The police car headed toward the Vegetable Market.

It was early afternoon, and there weren’t many people buying vegetables at the market, but a crowd had gathered around, creating a barrier. Xia Xinyan and Ling Mo pushed through the crowd and saw a green fat man dodging an attack from a Western medieval soldier.

Ling Mo raised an eyebrow. “Damn, did he turn into the Hulk?”

“…No, he should be a green dwarf.” Xia Xinyan’s lips twitched as she almost burst out laughing.

Because the fat man was genuinely green now.

If he wasn’t wearing the outfit from the hall, she really wouldn’t have recognized him at first glance.

His skin had turned a poop green, and his height shrank considerably, but his movements were still as nimble as before, slipping past the sword’s edge without a scratch.

Unconsciously, Xia Xinyan recalled the fat man’s suave demeanor against the Iron Giant earlier.

Honestly, this guy was pretty suited to tanking.

Not sure about taking hits, but he could definitely draw fire like a champ.

Upon seeing a ghost push through the crowd, the fat man finally noticed his companions and immediately ran over, “Help me, bros! I’m about to get killed!”

Seeing this, Xia Xinyan patted Ling Mo’s shoulder. “Mo Mo, it’s your time to shine.”

Ling Mo nodded, exerted force with his feet, and dashed over, directly confronting the soldier, then smashed a fist into the soldier’s chest before he could attack.

The silver armor the soldier wore caved in from Ling Mo’s ruthless punch, sending the soldier flying backwards into a nearby vegetable stall, causing the onlookers to scream in terror.

They couldn’t see the players and Hunters, so from their perspective, the stalls were inexplicably collapsing, making it feel like an eerie haunting.

Even when the police arrived, they could only cordon off the area and maintain order while questioning their life choices.

But nobody cared about what they thought.

After landing a hit, Ling Mo pressed his advantage; however, the soldier quickly got back up, as if completely unharmed, and charged at Ling Mo.

His longsword was incredibly sharp; every strike came down with a deadly sword energy, leaving many cuts on Ling Mo, yet Ling Mo nonchalantly turned the soldier into a meat pie.

For a zombie, such superficial injuries weren’t fatal, not even close to a tickle, and since he and the soldier both excelled in strength, his insensitivity to pain allowed him to overwhelmingly overpower the soldier. It wasn’t until Ling Mo had the soldier pinned to the ground, motionless, that he finally stopped attacking.

The fat man and Xia Xinyan approached, and upon seeing the soldier turned into a mushy pile, the fat man chuckled triumphantly, “Nice job, Old Ling! Damn, that guy chased me for three streets; if I’d been able to fight back, I would’ve shown him why flowers bloom for a hundred days.”

Saying that, he kicked the soldier’s family jewels as a finishing move.

Xia Xinyan quietly picked up the dropped longsword and glanced at Ling Mo. “You alright?”

Ling Mo glanced at the injuries on his body, about to say he was fine but then recalled that moment when they had been trapped under rubble at the beginning.

He paused, his tone a bit weak. “I’m barely holding on…”

Xia Xinyan: “…”

What an idiot.

She told him to step up, not to fight like he was throwing his life away. She’d watched as he primarily focused on offense.

But after a brief silence, she moved closer, wrapped her arms around Ling Mo’s neck, and sealed his lips.

As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and she had lost count of how many times they had done this; she was beginning to get used to it.

…Just for healing, just for healing.

She barely convinced herself.

But if Ling Mo dared to get too handsy like before, she would absolutely bite his tongue off.

Fortunately, this time, Ling Mo simply let her take control.

Hmm… he felt like he discovered a new world.
