Chapter 72

Pastel is purrfect~!

Totally purrfectly wronged.

Just like the watering pot went purr-purr~, I felt as wronged as it does when clattering about.

After rescuing Elly and Dustin, who were both dazed from the gas, and clearing up misunderstandings with Melissa, who was staring at Craft, I couldn’t help but think these things.

Was I too naïve?

In the realm of fantasy friendships, was simply expressing sincere feelings and honest thoughts not enough?

That’s why, with no social rules followed, Pastel Love Love found herself drowning in misunderstandings and having to clarify so many things!

Oh gosh, seems right.

This is a dangerous world where swords are sparkling and shining!

Even in friendships, there must be a basic level of wariness!

But I didn’t know that and just leaped ahead and hugged many friends without a second thought.

How could I not be cautious when someone could be hiding a dagger in their embrace?

Then, coincidentally suspicious circumstances piled up, and an article was reported by the Newspaper Club, and my caution exploded!

Pastel realized.

I’ve mismanaged myself!

Thinking back, this is an aristocratic society!

Though not as much as Melissa, I should have been making some friends with a degree of class!

While walking around campus, instead of grabbing a classmate and announcing, “From today, you’re my friend!” I should have set up a tea time appointment, giggling and chatting before becoming friends!

Oh gosh.

Imagining that just screams aristocrat.

In her light pajamas, Pastel covered her mouth with one hand.

And smiled like a noble.

“Ha ha! Ho ho!”

The Demon Lord turned back after examining the gem of the mood lamp by the bed. With red eyes, he stared at the girl, then pondered before continuing what he was doing.

I could feel he was being cautious because the girl was in a sensitive state.

Pastel felt awkward.

“I’m not hormonal, you know!”

‘Didn’t say anything.’

The Demon Lord took out the gem from the lamp and replaced it with a new one. The dim light brightened.

‘However, it’s good to be aware of your own state. Don’t let yourself get swept away every time like in battle. Speaking of which, was Craft’s acting on the demon airship swayed by hormones too?’

The Demon Lord rubbed his chin.

‘Hmm, not good. If this happens often, it will negatively affect your character. Have there been any recent changes in your feelings?’

Ugh.

Totally treated like a teenager.

Pastel blocked her ears and pretended not to hear.

“Ha ha ho ho!”

Noble Pastel doesn’t listen to the Demon Lord’s whispers!

The Demon Lord awkwardly realized he had intruded and turned his body away after tossing and catching the spent gem.

“Sleep well, young Craft.”

Pastel stuck her pink tongue out a little.

“Beee.”

“Oh dear.”

The Demon Lord chuckled and headed for the door.

Just as he was about to open it, Pastel quickly shouted.

“Good night, Demon Lord!”

Bye bye.

The Demon Lord turned around, smiled, and left. He couldn’t stray too far from Pastel because he was sealed in the Demon Sword, but he could stay close in the servant’s waiting room.

Silence fell.

Pastel stared at the bedroom door and then stealthily slipped out of bed. With a bright face, she cheered.

Wow!

“Freedom from being a caretaker!”

I’ll play until dawn!

With light steps, she danced.

Doo doo doo~!

“The freest time has come~!”

She approached the wall bookshelf and pulled out a thick book. Hidden behind the book was a bundle of cookies.

“Now, this is the freedom of the early morning, even more than a cozy bath time!”

Though it’s not quite dawn yet!

Grabbing the cookie bundle, she dove onto the bed. The bed swayed, and her pink hair spread in all directions.

Pastel rolled around on the bed, humming. When she finally slid to the edge, she poked her upper body out to look under the bed. She spotted a glass bottle of orange juice and a pepper shaker filled with gem powder.

“Purr-purr-purr!”

Totally figured out the Demon Lord’s cleaning schedule!

For a genius spy like Pastel, hiding snacks is a piece of cake!

She arranged her pillow as a backrest and sat down on the bed.

Opening the cookie bundle, she giggled while holding the pepper shaker.

With snack experience number million, I finally know how to eat well.

Simply put, put the food in the bundle, sprinkle gem powder on it, and shake it!

Then, there’s no need to sprinkle it one by one!

Could it be I’m a genius?

Admiring myself, she sprinkled the gem powder.

Pepper, pepper.

A little black powder fell and then stopped.

Huh.

Pastel shook the pepper shaker more, but when nothing came out, she gave it a tap. A bit more powder fell and then stopped.

Her pink eyes went wide.

No way.

When she opened the shaker, all the gem powder was gone.

“Whoa!”

Shock.

Pastel’s hands shook.

How terrible without gem powder, I can’t even eat!

Memories of hastily eating anything and regurgitating flashed before her eyes.

“How could this…!”

Pastel cried out.

Despair!

Despair!!

A miserable life where I can’t even eat the snacks I desire!

A cold world that disregards even my hunger!

In her despair, as she twisted her body, she stopped. Pastel glanced at the mood lamp on the bedside table.

Oh, what’s this?

Rolling her eyes, she casually grabbed the mood lamp.

She examined the lamp like an expert. Her gaze was that of someone who had studied only lamps for nearly a million years.

Pastel then discovered an astonishing fact.

“Gasp! No way! I only turned it on briefly, but the gem energy has already run out! The gem must have been defective! I need to replace it right away!”

With a bite of determination, she manipulated the lamp.

Creak, creak.

The lamp turned and slowly slid off the post. Due to the small magical circle structure inside, there were some unknown gears, making it tighter than she expected.

Clunk, clunk.

Eager Pastel applied a bit more force.

Clunk, clunk, CRACK-!

Eh.

Pastel looked at the broken post and the detached lamp.

Oh, what on earth.

The gem fell from the lamp. A dull sound echoed.

No matter how she looked at it, this wasn’t a normal disassembly.

Pastel felt cold sweat form. She glanced around the quiet bedroom. Then looked back at the remains of the lamp.

Gulp.

Carefully, she held the broken wooden post and the detached lamp. She rubbed them together to return them to their original form.

Rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub.

After sticking them together, she lifted her hands.

The lamp stood tall, maintaining its original shape.

Pastel’s face lit up.

“It’s okay-!”

In an instant, the lamp part fell off the wooden post. The lamp tumbled off the table and stopped.

Pastel’s bright expression froze in place. She turned her head to glance at the bedroom door.

Then, she looked down at the (not) lamp remnants.

The girl’s hands trembled. Slowly, she grabbed the blanket. The blanket pulled and covered the entire table. The remnants were completely hidden.

Pastel’s expression improved a little.

She turned her body. The cookie bundle and orange juice on the bed caught her eye.

The girl gasped slowly.

“Who brought snacks into the sacred bedroom?!”

Pointing with her finger, she jumped up.

“Bad behavior! Totally bad behavior! Good Pastel would never do something like this!”

Absolutely, absolutely!

After a moment, she quickly hid the snacks. Slipping them behind books and under the bed.

Before she knew it, the bedroom looked neat and tidy.

“Phew!”

Pastel wiped her brow with the expression of a finished cleaning Demon Lord.

“By the way, the Demon Lord told me to sleep. I should get to bed.”

Ignoring the blanket and table, she lay down on the bed.

“Good night, Demon Lord.”

Yep, yep.

Clutching the extra pillow tightly.

Zzz.

The journey into dreamland is beautiful…

The girl fell asleep.

The next day arrived.

“What is this?”

The Demon Lord visited the bedroom, and the girl who had broken the expensive lamp designated for the Marquis’s dormitory was scolded.

“Waaaah!”

Pastel cried and cried.

She pointed at the lamp’s remains.

“It broke on its own! It broke on its own…!”

I swear it’s true!

“Waaaah!”

The eldest son of the Duke of Bellamont and the Demon Mercenary Leader, Trimaut, who planned a terrorist act under the orders of the Cult, found himself in a dire situation.

No, the word ‘dire’ simply doesn’t do justice to his current predicament.

Trimaut’s life was hanging by a thread.

“I curse you, Craft! Even in the afterlife, I will continue to curse you!”

Trimaut’s body was tightly bound with chains to a massive iron box. That alone was a death sentence, but the iron box was now precariously perched on the edge of a cliff on the Sky Island.

If the balance was even slightly disturbed, the iron box would tip and fall down below.

Thus, even amidst his shouting, Trimaut had to focus his full attention on maintaining balance.

With a face flushed from effort, he lifted his upper body and pulled on the chains wrapping around him. He did everything he could to keep the iron box from falling.

“Craft…!”

From a little distance away, the Knight Members of the Sky Island were watching the iron box and Trimaut.

“What a nasty one. He won’t even tell us what’s inside.”

“Still, we figured out the Cult’s orders through other people. If there’s a mass terror plan by the Cult, it must involve some sort of poison gas, right?”

“Could be. It’s a blow to my pride, but I guess we have to give up. Since Craft told us to dispose of it right here on the day of the tournament, it’s clear why the interrogation had to last until now.”

The leader gestured.

One of the Knight Members approached the iron box.

Trimaut widened his eyes.

“I will curse you! Even if I fall into the afterlife! I will curse everything!”

“What afterlife? The Gods have declared there is no afterlife. You’re as inferior as an infidel.”

The Knight Member raised his foot.

“Now stop this!”

With a kick, he struck the iron box. A dull thud echoed. The cliff crumbled slightly, and the iron box began to fall.

Trimaut screamed.

“Craft…!”

The Sky Island quickly receded from his view. The vast blue sky unfolded before him.

Trimaut looked around in a panic.

When will someone come to save me!?

You wouldn’t really abandon me, would you?!

The iron box started to rotate, and Trimaut, bound by chains, spun along with it. Below, the Airship awaited.

On the deck, the sturdy Professor Carlo looked up at the falling iron box. It was about to crash.

The instant Carlo touched the falling iron box, the natural order of things seemed to yield, and the world aligned.

The impact was offset amidst a storm. Cracks formed on the deck of the Airship.

The Professor frowned as he placed the iron box down onto the deck. A tremendous sound erupted.

In that process, the chains tightened, causing Trimaut to cough up blood.

“Be gentle!”

“Were we too harsh on him? Looks like today’s terror is impossible.”

The hands loosened the chains.

Trimaut staggered to his feet. He shook his head.

“I can do it! This has been my lifelong wish! Give me something from the cultists! I don’t care about the side effects, I just want a high-performance one!”

Professor Carlo raised an eyebrow. Then he dug into his pocket and pulled out a gem awakening potion.

“They say this is a new drug. If you take it, you’ll be dead by the end of the day.”

The awakening potion was tossed.

Trimaut snatched it and laughed.

“This is great! I can get revenge on that arrogant Craft!”

“Craft, huh.”

Professor Carlo looked up at the sky with a strange expression. A massive Sky Island floated above.

“A bloodline filled with sins.”
