Chapter 463

‘….’

I was dreaming about the Blue Girl.

Her body felt somehow uncomfortable compared to the Gray Reaper’s.

Maybe it was because I had properly controlled the Blue Girl’s physique before, but I recognized it instantly, feeling a strange familiarity.

In the dream, the Blue Girl was walking down that mysterious path I had once traversed.

A high and bizarre road, seemingly connecting to the sky.

Perhaps because it was far too long for a human’s steps to reach the end, the Blue Girl was riding on an unusual mount.

It was a White Hungry Ghost, elongated like the Black Reaper I had seen at the Tower at the End.

It was the same White Hungry Ghost I had seen from Mini Yerin’s perspective, but now it was at least twice the size.

It looked about the same size as the White Hungry Ghost that had joined my garden.

Kyu-hing-hing.

The White Hungry Ghost seemed unhappy with its long legs, making kyu-hing-hing sounds with every step it took.

But as much as its legs had grown longer, its speed was quite fast.

The Blue Girl was holding onto the antennae of the quick-moving White Hungry Ghost, looking genuinely joyful as she laughed.

Perhaps due to the rapid speed, her hair fluttered in the wind like a flag.

The Master sat on the somewhat stiff but wide back of the White Hungry Ghost behind the Blue Girl, uttering a few words of admiration.

“It looks a bit off-putting, but it’s revolutionary as a mode of transportation.”

Amidst that admiration, there was a hint of distaste for the oddly shaped Hungry Ghost with long legs.

In response to the Master’s words, the Blue Girl muttered in a slightly sulky voice.

“But it’s cute… Surely later everyone will want a Hungry Ghost like this for transportation.”

Not reacting to her complaint, the Master looked around with a curious gaze.

It was a peculiar road that couldn’t possibly be explained physically.

Despite stretching skyward without any supports, it remained unbroken, offering a view down to the distant ground and clouds drifting by the roadside, causing the Master to express his wonder.

“I can’t believe such a road was hidden near the city.”

“It requires really special conditions to discover this path,” the Blue Girl explained with a smile.

“From what I’ve investigated….”

“It seems it must be a magical book that listens to wishes and grants them to find this road.”

“So only those called ‘children of God’ by the cult can find it.”

“Well, I’m not sure if they’re really children or not.”

The giggling Blue Girl paused for a moment before adding,

“And there are other conditions, but… I can’t really explain them verbally. It’s because of the ‘Book that Killed God’.”

Upon hearing that, the Master nodded slightly in agreement as if to say that he understood.

“The Book that Killed God, even if broken, is still searching to shatter the ‘Records of God,’ so we must be cautious.”

As they were having this conversation, they finally arrived at the highlands.

It was exactly the barren highland I had seen before, but two things were different.

There were no massive claw marks left where the city had been.

And in the emptiness where the Black Corpse had vanished like a mirage, the Black Giant was lost in a deep sleep.

That enormous corpse was clearly different in size from the Black Giant that had died within the Unchanging Sphere.

It was a colossal corpse, enormous enough to seem like it could reach beyond the sky into the universe.

The moment I saw that corpse, I realized.

This highland was a space created solely for that Black Giant.

In the expanse of the highlands, the Blue Girl and the Master gazed at the massive Black Giant.

The Black Giant was not moving at all, but its mere presence radiated overwhelming stature.

The Blue Girl observed the Black Giant with an expression of calmness.

As if she felt no pressure from its immense presence surrounding her.

However, the Master’s expression beside her was different.

His eyes shone as if he had discovered the answer to an ancient riddle, filled with a sense of awe.

In my view, this meant he looked a bit insane.

Yes, it had a similar vibe to the ‘Leader’ I had seen before.

“This is the true God….”

The Master’s voice trembled slightly.

Although his words scattered into the air, they felt like they were meant for himself.

The Blue Girl was still engrossed in observing the giant, oblivious to the Master’s agitation.

Her gaze was solely fixated on the enormous black figure.

“Humans killed God. And then needed Him again.”

The Master murmured those words.

Sensing that the Blue Girl was lost in her investigation, she added as if receiving an ancient verse.

“God was cruel, yet He protected humanity.”

Accepting the Master’s words, the Blue Girl slowly opened her palm.

As she did, a faint light began to gather on her palm.

It looked beautiful, like countless fireflies dancing.

That which slowly took shape on her palm was nothing other than ‘Firewood.’

Compared to the firewood I used, it was lacking in color, brightness, and completeness, but it was undoubtedly firewood.

“May the wishes of those who need you reach you.”

With those words, the light that blossomed from her palm flew towards the Black Giant.

In that moment.

Grggrrrk.

The sound of giant claws scraping the ground reverberated through the highland.

That was a sound leaving an indelible scar upon the indestructible highland.

And the eyes of the giant, which had been closed for eons, slowly opened.

The movement was slow, but its meaning was intense.

The God awakened.

And simultaneously, I too awakened from my sleep.

*

James Tower on the Outskirts of Songpa District.

Recently, James Tower had been incredibly busy due to multiple incidents.

The appearance of a gigantic Gray Reaper on the surface of the Black Planet.

The slight change in the color of that once ink-black planet.

And the occurrences of grass and trees beginning to grow and spreading green across that planet.

Of course, since the situation was ongoing, James Tower remained on high alert, but James was enjoying a short break with the Golden Reaper.

‘Humans should just die!’

The Golden Reaper looked truly sad after working so much.

So, James took ample sleep and took breaks occasionally.

Sipping hot chocolate he had warmed, he watched a personal broadcast channel called [Mini Reapers Today] with the Golden Reaper.

It was a video channel focusing on the increasingly popular Mini Reapers lately.

That meant the Mini Reapers were starting to spread like dogs and cats.

Previously, all channels related to Mini Reapers were conspiracy theory channels, so it was a sign that the efforts of the James Research Institute and the Object Association were finally bearing fruit.

As the Golden Reaper began to understand the videos, James would often watch them together during breaks.

When the video started, it showed the Black Reaper flailing to protect an Attached Human who was scared of a dog.

The dog looked significantly small and benign, yet the Attached Human was truly terrified even of that tiny creature.

Perhaps because the Black Reaper felt both that dog’s and human’s emotions, it looked bewildered, only to suddenly wear a pondering expression.

Then, displaying a terrified expression, it slammed a concrete wall hard.

Then the dog shockedly ran away.

Initially, the Attached Human started complimenting it for doing well, but upon seeing the Black Reaper had utterly demolished the wall, it was left stunned as the video concluded.

‘Oops! Humans shouldn’t break things….’

From the moment the Black Reaper broke the wall, the Golden Reaper wore an anxious expression as if it had made a mistake.

James chuckled while petting the fidgeting Golden Reaper as he watched.

Flipping to the next video, a streamer with a familiar face was broadcasting while sitting the Golden Reaper on their shoulder.

It was the streamer who had first discovered the ‘Gray Reaper on the Black Planet.’

Seeing it streaming together with the Golden Reaper, it appeared that the ‘Golden Reaper Operation on the Pizza Box’ had been a success.

‘…?’

Noticing James’s laughter, the Golden Reaper had a curious expression.

“It’s nothing.”

Seeing that expression, James replied it was nothing and just as he was about to switch to the next video—

Beeep!

An emergency signal began ringing chaotically from James’s phone.

‘No way!’

The Golden Reaper sprawled across the floor with a sad expression, but James received the call with a serious face.

[Boss! Most people have thought of ‘Nameless’!]

“….”

Hearing those words, James finally displayed a look of acceptance that the inevitable had come.

In fact, the signs had been around for quite some time.

The rules were always loose, and recently the rules of ‘Nameless’ had become even more lax.

Moreover, instances of it simply not appearing had been on the rise.

James placed the phone down, got dressed, picked up the sprawled Golden Reaper, and left the office.

It was time to get back to work.
