Chapter 236

A pig with bent knees and stairs that descended toward the ground.

It was truly an unexpected series of events.

The jelly pig was so large that, even with its knees bent, the stairs going down to the ground felt like a staircase leading up to the sky.

Following those stairs, the butler hungry ghosts began to move the alchemist on a stretcher.

I stepped onto the fascinating jelly pig mobile fortress with high expectations.

Following behind the butler hungry ghosts, I hopped along.

Towards the snack stairs that looked delicious, I hopped along.

As I began to ascend the stairs, the alchemist’s younger sister and the golden reapers also started to follow, seemingly curious.

Hmm, it seems the golden reaper is seeing this pig fortress for the first time too.

It was a bit disappointing that the mini reapers kept it a secret just from me, but it didn’t seem to be the case.

Bouncing, bouncing.

The sensation under my feet felt somewhat strange.

It was soft, bouncy, and had a nice elasticity.

The stairs made of fluffy jelly and marshmallow were pushing my body upwards with a rather intriguing sensation.

With regular jelly and marshmallows, such a thing would be impossible, so the blue reaper’s magic must have been infused a bit.

The railings made of cookie that looked like they might break with a tap.

Strawberries coated in sugar hung decoratively on such railings.

Though it looked like a very fragile structure, it was sturdier than expected.

It really looked delicious, and I tried to take a little bite, but no matter how hard I tried, it wouldn’t crumble.

Sigh.

Even the kind golden reapers, who resembled me, clung to the railing and bit it, but their biting power did no damage at all.

Yikes.

I took advantage of the butler hungry ghost’s inattentiveness and started to tear off a bit of the railing with a spatial cut and began munching on it.

I shared a little with the golden reapers to make them accomplices.

At first, the golden reapers looked puzzled, like, ‘Is it really okay to do this?’ but as I crunched and munched, they too squinted and started munching away.

It looked like a cookie, but the texture was quite unique.

Fortunately, the snacks that fell from the railing had lost the steel-like firmness.

‘!’

The golden reapers looked incredibly delighted, their eyes widening as their antennae shot up to the sky.

It was a response similar to that of golden reapers trying James pudding for the first time.

On the way back, I felt like I would cut a big chunk of the railing to take back to the attached human.

So, I continually nibbled on the railing whenever I was bored and ascended the long staircase.

Though it felt like quite a long journey, the scenery that revealed itself at the top was worth it.

An endless expanse of marshmallow ground.

A sea of hot chocolate surrounding the land.

In the distance, the black sugar desert was visible.

The candy mountain and the cookie stick forest.

It was a wide and pleasing landscape in its own right.

Still, it looked a bit warm, so I wished there were some snowy fields piled high with milk shaved ice.

Would a lot of objects related to the snowfield suddenly appear?

And when I turned my head, a huge building was situated against that garden backdrop.

It somewhat resembled the Sehee Research Institute, and in some aspects, it was like a massive hospital nearby.

From the entrance of the white building made of snow, golden reapers wearing nurse hats tumbled out.

‘Patient!’

‘Transport!’

It was a real hospital.

*

The younger sister rushed after her sister on the stretcher, panting as she reached the high steps and arrived at the mini reaper hospital.

With a sweet scent like a scene from a fairy tale, the stairs and buildings made of snacks.

At first, I wondered, ‘Is it really correct to find the gray reaper?’ — the scenery didn’t seem trustworthy at all.

But maybe my sister was right.

Seeing the well-established hospital facilities, I felt my sister was going to be okay.

It looked like a sophisticated building, reminiscent of the Sehee Research Institute.

And instead of the usual mobile bed, a large alpaca-shaped hungry ghost began carrying my sister.

Were they worried about the vibrations while moving? The alpacas were wearing roller skates.

Of course, the alpacas didn’t walk or move like wheeled beds; the golden reaper nurse leading the way held a leash and guided them.

The large hospital had a rather unique layout.

It felt like I was looking at a cat-only building.

Along the wide paths where alpacas and humans moved, endless mini reaper-exclusive paths were lined up.

On the small path, made about the height of a railing, mini reapers were bouncing around in droves.

It felt like a fairy hospital for human patients.

With a blue reaper in a blue witch hat and white gown, and a golden reaper wearing a nurse’s hat, it felt even more so.

As we walked and explored the hospital, the alpaca bed carrying my sister arrived at what seemed to be the destination.

It was a hospital room where a blonde girl and a man in a black suit were lying.

Could those people also have the same symptoms as my sister?

As soon as my sister entered the hospital room, the hospital began to stir.

Numerous golden reapers with cookie-shaped clubs were running somewhere.

Beep! Beep!

Was that the sound of the black reaper?

A cheerful sound that didn’t suit an alarm echoed periodically.

Was something happening?

Now that I think about it, the gray reaper who was always near my younger sister had vanished.

*

The more I wandered through the mini reaper hospital, the stranger I felt.

How could I have not known about such a large facility!

If they weren’t deliberately hiding it, there was no way I could be unaware of its scale.

Suspicious.

Moreover, this building was quite easy to seal off.

It felt as though I could dive right into the sea of hot chocolate.

Could it be that they were hiding in the sea of hot chocolate when there weren’t any visitors?

To solve this mystery, I used ghosting to sneak away from my party.

As I wandered inside the hospital, I stumbled upon a very suspicious room.

A room that looked as if it was made from black reapers, dotted with yellow, glowing eyes.

Unlike the other hospital room doors made of cookies, the door made of black reapers looked very sturdy.

Additionally, a sign was set up outside the door.

It was a simple design that resembled a road sign, with a red X mark drawn over a picture of a gray reaper.

This must mean no entry for gray reapers, right?

The mini reapers made a room like this!

To have a no-entry sign along with walls made of black reaper security, could it be a revolution?

Thinking of a revolution, I felt like there must be a red reaper with a mustache inside.

Among the current TV-watching red reapers who were getting a bit smarter, there was a possibility.

‘Moms come and go. But mini reapers remain. Only mini reapers are forever.’

I had a feeling there might be a red reaper who would say something like that.

Even if that wasn’t the case, something that I had to keep hidden must be in there.

I had to get in quickly and catch them in the act!

But there wasn’t a clear way to enter.

Tearing space?

A mom who tears her own child apart is a bit…

But without another way, I couldn’t get through the sturdy black reapers.

After much contemplation, I chose the Halo of the Labyrinth as a means to infiltrate.

It would be extremely painful, but it was the most certain method.

Twisting reality with the halo, I created another door.

It was a cookie door that blended seamlessly with the hospital scenery.

And slowly, making sure not to make a sound, I opened the door and entered, revealing an unexpected scene.

There was a cotton candy puppy ravenously tearing apart a marshmallow shaped like a gray reaper.

A cotton candy puppy, tearing into its prey like a wolf shaking its prey by the neck, was right there.

And that puppy spotted me as I entered the room.

“…”
‘….’

The puppy rolled its eyes and started stomping its feet and running away.

And I began to chase that puppy to throw it back into the water once again.

Then, the black reaper spotted me and started to squeak, and I began hearing the golden reapers bustling about.

With the raucous noise in the background, as I sprinted toward the puppy with time acceleration, one thought crossed my mind.

Why do the hungry ghosts get to munch on everything, yet only that puppy gets special treatment?

*

The chaotic hospital quieted down the moment the gray reaper returned.

There was only one thing that had changed.

The once-empty-handed gray reaper now carried a large water bucket and the cotton candy puppy.

The gray reaper occasionally dunked that puppy into the water, bringing it in and out repeatedly.

It looked too pitiful from my sister’s perspective, and the golden reapers seemed to be thinking similarly, as they clung to the gray reaper, trying to stop it.

My sister averted her gaze, beginning to look at her sister, who lay like a corpse, and the two patients.

The man in the black suit lay there, as still as a corpse, without even a breath.

However, oddly enough, it didn’t feel like he was dead; he still seemed alive.

In that moment, a blue reaper in a doctor’s gown and a golden reaper entered the hospital room.

The blue reaper held a paper that looked like a chart tightly to its chest, while the golden reaper held something strange that didn’t fit in the hospital at all.

It wasn’t plastic, but it looked like a white, blunt bread knife resembling plastic.

The blue reaper approached the man in the black suit and began examining him closely with an intense gaze.

The seriousness of the expression made my sister unconsciously hold her breath.

Then, the blue reaper started pointing with a finger at one part of the black-suited man’s arm.

The golden reaper nodded and plunged the bread knife into the black-suited man’s arm.

“!”

My sister was so taken aback that she shot up from her chair.

But contrary to her thoughts of expecting a massive bloodflow, no blood flowed from the site of penetration.

“!!!”

And where the bread knife had been removed revealed a cross-section that looked just like a roll cake.

The scene looked so unrealistic, it felt as if I was trapped in a nightmare.

Having been quite exhausted from various incidents, my sister began to feel dizzy, as if she was dreaming, and finally fainted.
