Basics and Understanding of Disguise.
This class is just a humble lecture that only me and Jiang attend.
Originally, there were a few first-years, but the professor seems to be a bit hysterical…?
Her personality is not great.
Rather than struggling to pass the class that looks like a tough one for grades, we decided to collectively run away.
“Hey, Jiang! How’s the exam going?”
“Quite well.”
“Oh. What’s with the confidence?”
“Oknodie surely did well.”
“Of course! I surprised even the professor!”
10 minutes before the exam time.
As we were chatting while waiting for the classroom door to open, Jiang suddenly pulled out a Magic Watch.
━━━━
[Student Council Executive Velvet is offering an opportunity for [Student Council Tour].]
[4 days left to use it.]
━━━━
“So when are you planning to use this?”
“After the exam on the weekend!”
“True. It’s easier to go on a tour with a relaxed mind after the exam.”
Huh? Jiang seems to be misunderstanding something.
“The Student Council is way more dangerous than the midterm exams, so you need to rest fully on Saturday and visit with maximum energy. Going there with a relaxed mindset would be a big mistake!”
“…What kind of dangerous invitation is that senior Velvet giving us?”
“Think of it as a recruitment offer to show the power of the Student Council and pull us into her faction!”
Jiang’s eyes quickly lost interest.
“I don’t need any annoying hats.”
“Should I go alone, then?”
“Still, I’d like to take a look.”
As we were making small talk, suddenly the door flew open.
“Alright, you’re all set. Everyone come in quickly!”
Inside the classroom, there were an overwhelming variety of clothes and accessories, sparkling brightly under the lights like a dressing room or prop room.
Professor Pinkberry confidently clapped her hands on the shelf and shouted.
“You will use the disguise items you choose from here to enter other exam venues.”
Oh, this pattern!
“The exam venue…? That looks like a ballroom.”
“Ha-ha. Good eye. This exam is…”
“I know! We sneak into the ballroom pretending to be examinees from another class without getting caught, right?”
Professor Pinkberry nearly exploded in frustration at being interrupted.
“Hmph. Just because you noticed doesn’t mean it’s all. The crucial aspect of this exam is…”
“Costumes and props, the disguise tools, all have scores attached, and the less points we use to pass the exam, the more midterm exam scores and bonus points we’ll get!”
“Hey!! How do you know the exam content when I haven’t even explained yet?!”
The professor pouted while punching my arm repeatedly.
Honestly, when it comes to pure strength stats, Professor Pinkberry is just a weak little teacher and kind of cute.
“You let that bad Mosquito Master Yumi bring mosquitoes into my bedroom, didn’t you? You rolled around on the bed, scheming and overheard all the exam details!”
“How could I overcome the Minion Detection Device and Bug Extermination Magic Circle you set up in your bedroom? I’m still just a first-year!”
“That’s true, but…”
Though still doubtful, she seemed to accept my claim of being a first-year.
The professor, who had been looking down with a losing confidence, suddenly raised her head.
“…How did you know about the Minion Detection Device and Bug Extermination Magic Circle?”
“Ah, that’s… I’ve been bitten by a mosquito before! Since there are many lately, I figured you’d have those facilities installed!”
“Liar.”
With suspicion streaming from her triangular eyes, I decided to use my secret weapon.
Mosquito, bite!
I ordered my invisible mosquito to bite my arm and used mana to spread the mosquito toxin faster.
I rolled up my sleeve to show my intensely red and swollen skin.
“Look at this! I was bitten by a mosquito too!”
“True… A Mosquito Master wouldn’t get bitten by a mosquito, huh.”
Finally, the professor seemed to drop her suspicion as her triangular eyes returned to their usual slitty, devilish look.
“I just figured it out because I’m the top student!”
“If you’re top, then sure, I guess. Oknodie, as you said, this exam is to blend in naturally with the students attending [Let’s Enter the Ballroom]. You need to complete given missions without revealing your identity and return.”
Pinkberry unfolded her Mana Board and revealed the mission.
━━━━
[Mission List]
*Basic
-Stay in the ballroom for over 1 hour and return.
*Beginner
-Wear dancing shoes and successfully dance at least one song.
-Chat with one invited guest for over 1 minute.
-Engage in physical contact with one student once.
*Intermediate
-Wear dancing shoes and dance for more than 10 minutes.
-Chat with 5 invited guests for a total of more than 5 minutes.
-Engage in physical contact with 5 students more than 5 times.
*Advanced
-Wear all dancing shoes at least once.
-Chat for over 1 minute with each invited guest.
-Engage in physical contact with all students more than 5 times.
*Expert
-(Unlock Condition: Speak with an instructor for more than 1 minute.)
-(Unlock Condition: Disguise as an existing invited guest.)
-(Unlock Conditions: Achieve the previous two unlock conditions.)
━━━━
One only has to achieve the basic mission to pass the exam.
Of course, merely scraping by will only get the lowest scores, and you need to perform the subsequent missions for more points.
After achieving full marks, additional points will flow in, and completing the hidden missions will shower you with points!
The conditions for releasing the missions are difficult, and performing them after they’ve been released doubles the challenge. It’s no easy feat without some leisure time to spare!
Of course, as a player who noticed the ballroom exam, it wasn’t that hard for me to figure out the hidden mission’s contents. Just a little memory recall, and I got it!
━━━━
*Expert
-Must disguise as an instructor for over 30 minutes without being discovered until leaving the ballroom.
-Must disguise as one existing invited guest for over 30 minutes without being discovered until leaving the ballroom.
-Must disguise as a professor for over 30 minutes without being discovered until leaving the ballroom.
━━━━
Remembering isn’t the end; it’s just the beginning.
All three are not easy missions.
Even completing one of them is a big deal!
“Oknodie. Do you know what the expert mission is?”
“…No!”
I didn’t tell Jiang right away.
If I let Pinkberry’s suspicion rise again by letting it slip, I wouldn’t be able to return!
“So, Oknodie, what outfit will you be wearing to enter?”
There were a variety of outfits.
The outfits of examinees taking the test.
The dresses of invited noblewomen.
The outfits of maids and waiters serving them.
The maid outfits naturally mixed with the bunny girl outfit and bunny headband I wore while attending lectures.
It was the perfect outfit for a beginner who only plans to stay in the ballroom and come back.
If a man wears such a bunny girl outfit, it’s guaranteed to fail the disguise!
But now I’m Oknodie, a 133 cm tall orc who has yet to grow from the backpack’s burden.
Even in a bunny girl disguise, no one should notice me!
“That’s not it, right?”
“Why not?”
“Oknodie is the shortest in the academy.”
Oh no!
Jiang pointed out a weakness I never expected.
Having always lived towering over everyone, I mistakenly classified people’s heights as similar to or smaller than mine.
From a height of 230 cm, 160 or 133 seem equally small, but from the perspective of someone 160 cm tall, 133 cm is practically a toddler!
While I might be able to cover up the outfit with hiding, I need to be clever to ensure I blend in naturally through conversation and avoid drawing attention with my height!
Where could I find someone to disguise as?
Glancing at the mirror reflecting the ballroom, I hardly saw any other students or noblewomen, or beastmen as small as I am.
“I’ll go in first.”
Jiang, determined to go with an invisibility meta, boldly stepped in with minimal disguise.
Looking at the attire, she seemed to be trying to blend in as either a student or a former student instructor.
Then who should I disguise as?
“What are you doing? Aren’t you going in? Or are you scared? Heh. You may have some insight, but taking action is daunting, huh? Sometimes first-years have to pack cute experiences like this.”
Just as I was pondering my disguise target, I spotted the remarkably tiny Professor Pinkberry.
The officially recorded height of 144 cm makes her the shortest professor at the academy.
And I’m the shortest too.
“This is it!”
Alright, I’m decided.
From now on, I’m going to disguise myself as Professor Pinkberry!
