Chapter 954: Dark Demon Spying on the Mysterious (4k)
Yet, shrouded in mist, it could only see those around it and a corner of the cave exposed below.
With most of the golems used to lure away the giant elephant, Dark had few golems left that he could summon immediately.
Bishop Sabrina Melville glanced at the [Imp Beast] and said, “Is this your familiar?”
Dark nodded and said, “Prepare for battle. There’s a possibility that entering the cave might trigger some traps or awaken certain beasts.”
“But your familiar is only one-star, right?” Albert Grantham finally voiced his doubt.
Dark then drew out [Pride 3], lightly touching the forehead of the [Imp Beast] to activate the summon.
The one-star [Spell Cage: Imp Beast] instantly evolved into a four-star [Spell Cage: Demon Beast].
Although in the eyes of the Twin Sacred Knights, a four-star golem might not be much different from a one-star one, it was enough to silence them.
During this time, Dark had emphasized his golems’ high intelligence.
The Twin Sacred Knights and Bishop Sabrina Melville should have heard about it during their time at the Church of the Saints, but actually seeing and hearing it made a difference.
Golems with intelligence had unique advantages in the misty environment.
Though this [Spell Cage: Demon Beast] was only four-star, it might be more useful than third-tier golems.
While they were getting ready, Dark quickly informed the [Demon Beast] of the current situation, especially the characteristics of the mist.
The [Demon Beast] started taking charge as soon as it heard half of what Dark said. After Dark said, “Go and return quickly,” he released it.
“Wait for my message!” The [Demon Beast] spread its demonic wings and fearlessly dove into the bottomless pit.
In an instant, its form vanished, seemingly swallowed by the pit.
Dark estimated its flight speed and immediately said, “This pit might not be as deep as we thought.”
When the [Demon Beast] disappeared, its actual flying distance wasn’t far.
It could be said that something inside the pit blocked perception and vision, preventing the [Magical Beast: Goddess of Heartful Eyes] from sensing the flow of divine energy.
As expected, after two to three minutes, the [Demon Beast] returned from the pit using [Instant Teleportation].
It spoke clearly, “There’s no mist below, but visibility is zero. Luckily, I can see in the dark. I’ve already descended to the bottom and circled around. The depth of the pit is roughly twenty to thirty meters. At the bottom, there’s a clearing surrounded by several caves, each emitting a dark aura.”
“A dark aura? Are you sure you didn’t misperceive it?” Dark couldn’t help asking. The [Demon Beast] frowned and said, “I’m a [Demon Beast]!”
Dark couldn’t help but look at the two professors.
Professor Kazel pondered, “Among the twelve gods of Mount Polobos, there shouldn’t be any dark attribute.”
Professor Shylph said, “It could also come from their subordinate gods.”
Bishop Sabrina Melville said, “According to records, the angels in the Heavenly Court are primarily of the light attribute, and none of the twelve gods of Mount Polobos have a dark attribute. Of course, it’s possible the records are incorrect.”
Professor Shylph asked, “So, what do you think is down there?” Bishop Sabrina Melville shook her head and said, “I tend to believe it’s a dark attribute beast born on the Mountain of Gods, but it might be stronger than what we’ve encountered so far.”
“If it’s a beast…” Emily Grantham said, “then there’s no need for us to take such risks. I suggest not wasting any more time and heading straight to the entrance of the Heavenly Court.”
Albert Grantham agreed, “I agree with Emily’s suggestion.” Dark exchanged glances with his companions, conveying their thoughts through brief eye contact.
Thus, Dark said, “I suggest going down to see if we can find the second golden key.”
Professor Shylph also said, “Since everyone else has decided to investigate the source of the floral scent, we can’t let the opportunity slip away.”
Professor Kazel said, “Let’s go down and find out everything.” Bishop Sabrina Melville said, “I agree with Albert and Emily; it’s a three-on-three situation.”
“Don’t forget me,” Chris emerged halfway from Dark’s shadow and said, “Now it’s four against three.”
Four against three, the conclusion was to enter the cave.
Dark and his group had some guesses about the source of the “dark aura,” but chose not to mention it for now.
In short, the [Snake from the Abyss] replicated by Professor Steven Harvey was indeed of the dark attribute.
The decision of the three members of the Church wasn’t as firm. In the four-to-three situation, they too chose to enter the cave.
Afterward, they got back on the [Storm Magic Carpet] and flew into the pit.
Sure enough, when they reached about ten meters deep, Dark clearly sensed them passing through a “membrane.”
Then, the [Magical Beast: Goddess of Heartful Eyes] immediately said, “I see the flow of divine energy!”
Bishop Sabrina Melville waved her hand, creating several light orbs to illuminate the surroundings.
Below ten meters in the pit, there was no mist, but a special “dark power” enveloped the area. The light orbs created by Bishop Sabrina couldn’t fully illuminate the walls.
Once outside the range of the light orbs, it was pitch black, with the dark aura surging as if something was moving deep within, sending chills down their spines.
Another twenty meters down, the magic carpet finally touched the bottom, but the strength of the “dark power” increased, compressing the light orbs’ illumination range to within five meters.
However, Bishop Sabrina Melville flicked her fingers, spreading the light orbs and easily expanding their field of view.
Dark quickly observed.
Underneath the pit, there was nothing, and the surrounding walls looked ordinary. Indeed, several caves were distributed along the walls.
Some cave entrances had wet marks, reflecting water under the light of the orbs, making them quite noticeable.
“There are more than thirty caves; it’s impossible to check all of them,” Professor Kazel opened his [Eye of Truth] and said, “Let’s first see which cave has a flow of divine energy.”
The [Magical Beast: Goddess of Heartful Eyes] observed with the [Eye of the Gods] and said after a moment, “Three caves have a flow of divine energy.”
Bishop Sabrina Melville frowned, “Three?” Professor Kazel decisively said, “Choose one, together.”
By October 10th, the last bit of holiday warmth had passed, welcoming the cool, golden autumn. In this season of harvest, both you and I should work hard. Starting today, if daily moon tickets exceed five hundred, the next day’s update will be bold and extended.
