Chapter 95: The Tense Arthur
The next morning, after finishing breakfast, Arthur arrived early outside the Avalon Royal Palace.
Meanwhile, Airael, still enjoying her breakfast, glanced at Celia after hearing a report from the Guard and said, “Celia, please take Mr. Axi to my office first.”
“Yes!”
Celia nodded in reply.
She then led the Guard out of the dining hall.
Inside the dining hall, Airael continued to eat her unfinished breakfast.
Yet, her mind was far from the food.
From what she had told Arthur yesterday, she expected him to have prepared a gift for her today.
Though it had been less than a day, Airael was still very much looking forward to this gift.
Finally finishing her breakfast, Airael began to feed Anna as part of her daily routine.
At that moment, Celia had already arrived outside the Elven Royal Palace.
“Mr. Axi, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.”
Celia stepped forward to bow to Arthur.
“It’s alright.”
Arthur shook his head with a smile.
Celia also smiled as she said, “Your Majesty has asked me to take you to her office first; she will meet you shortly.”
“Alright! Please lead the way.”
Arthur nodded.
“Follow me, please.”
With that, Celia started leading the way for Arthur.
Once they entered the palace, Arthur looked at Celia’s back and asked, “Celia, what is Airael… the Queen doing right now?”
In response to Arthur’s abrupt change of address, Celia turned back to smile and said, “Your Majesty is currently having breakfast, and after finishing, she will also take care of Princess Anna’s meal.”
“It seems I might have come a bit too early.”
Arthur said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Maybe if Mr. Axi came a bit earlier, you could even have lunch with Your Majesty.”
Celia said with a playful smile.
She was well aware of the matters between Airael and Arthur.
So, she found it easy to say.
Of course, she only mentioned it in front of Arthur.
She wouldn’t dare bring it up in front of anyone else.
However, words spoken lightly can have weighty impact.
Arthur’s eyes lit up upon hearing Celia’s words.
This might be a plan worth trying; he just wasn’t sure if Airael would let him stay for breakfast.
Thinking about Airael’s anger from yesterday, Arthur placed his hopes on the gift in his hands.
If this gift could help him reconcile with Airael, then there was a solid chance.
Celia continued to lead the way for Arthur.
After some winding turns, they finally reached Airael’s office.
Opening the office door, Celia ushered Arthur inside.
As Arthur entered, he began to take in Airael’s office.
It was overall quite simple with not much clutter, but each detail exuded a sense of luxury.
It was a kind of understated opulence.
This office was many times better than his own.
Noticing Arthur lost in thought, Celia called him back: “Mr. Axi, you can sit on the sofa. Your Majesty should still take some time before she arrives.”
“Alright.”
Arthur didn’t hesitate to sit on the sofa, waiting for Airael to come meet him.
Celia stood beside him to keep him company.
As time passed, a sudden wave of nervousness washed over Arthur.
He had prepared the gift, but he wasn’t sure if Airael would like it.
Celia noticed Arthur’s demeanor.
After a moment of thought, she figured out the reason.
But as far as this matter was concerned, she had done all she could; the rest was beyond her ability to influence.
Meanwhile, after feeding Anna, Airael handed her over to Kyra for care.
She headed towards her office as usual, but fueled by anticipation, Airael’s steps were noticeably faster than usual.
Arriving outside her office, a smile crept onto Airael’s face as she opened the door and stepped inside.
“Your Majesty!”
Seeing Airael enter, Celia called out.
This also prompted Arthur’s response.
Arthur stood up and looked at Airael, stuttering, “G-Good morning, Aira… Majesty.”
Airael raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Are you not feeling well today?”
“N-No… I’m fine.”
Arthur shook his head, still stuttering.
Next to him, Celia struggled to suppress her laughter.
Though she felt a bit mischievous about it, this nervousness of Mr. Axi was quite cute.
“Celia, you can leave now. I need to speak with Mr. Axi privately for a bit.”
Airael shifted her focus from Arthur to Celia.
Celia quickly composed herself, with a serious expression, and replied, “Yes!”
She then took her leave, stepping outside.
Arthur’s gaze followed Celia as she left.
He wasn’t particularly keen on being alone with Airael.
He felt he might become even more awkward.
Airael noticed Arthur’s demeanor.
Once Celia left, she turned to Arthur and asked, “Why were you looking at Celia?”
Faced with Airael’s sharp gaze, Arthur opened his mouth but found no words to explain.
Airael huffed lightly, deciding not to press further on that.
She figured Arthur didn’t have that kind of intent.
Celia was pretty, but still not quite as good as herself.
Thus, Airael changed the subject and asked, “Where’s your gift?”
“It’s… here.”
Arthur picked up the beautifully wrapped gift box from the table.
Seeing the splendidly packaged gift box, Airael’s mouth curled into a happy smile.
“Let me see what you’ve prepared for me.”
With that, she stepped closer to Arthur.
The distance between them was gradually decreasing.
Arthur’s heart was racing “thump-thump-thump.”
He was both nervous and afraid.
The answer would soon be revealed.
As Airael stood beside Arthur, she frowned and asked, “What was that sound?”
“N-Nothing at all!”
Arthur replied.
“Is that so?”
Airael looked at Arthur with confusion, then her gaze shifted to the exquisite gift box in his hand.
“Give it to me so I can see.”
When Airael reached to take it, Arthur didn’t release his grip.
Airael raised her gaze to Arthur, looking quite displeased, and asked, “Why aren’t you letting go?”
Arthur immediately let go.
Taking hold of the gift box, Airael sat down on the nearby sofa, placing the gift box on her lap.
Arthur asked, “Aira, are you going to unwrap it now?”
“Of course!”
Airael replied.
While speaking, she had already started to unwrap it.
