Chapter 93: What Her Majesty Wants Isn’t a Gift, But Heartfelt Intentions
Celia spoke with great sincerity.
Arthur lowered his head, pondering carefully, then looked up at Celia and said, “Celia, Airael told me to bring her a gift she likes, or else I won’t be allowed to see her.”
Celia blinked in surprise and asked, “Mr. Axi, did Her Majesty truly say that?”
Celia found it quite strange.
Although her queen could be a bit willful, she wouldn’t go that far.
“Absolutely.” Axi replied.
“Alright then.”
Celia nodded helplessly.
After thinking for a moment, she looked at Arthur and asked, “So you’re troubled about what gift to give Her Majesty?”
“Yeah.”
Arthur nodded.
He gazed hopefully at Celia, wishing she could offer him a suggestion.
He had just been pondering this in his mind.
It soon became clear that only Celia could help him right now.
The only elves he was familiar with beside Airael were Celia and Aurora.
Aurora wasn’t around now, and her cold demeanor wouldn’t guarantee she’d help him with this matter.
Celia, on the other hand, was quite the enthusiastic type.
And Celia definitely had the capability to assist him.
After all, she had been by Airael’s side since Airael was a child.
So, she must know what Airael liked!
Under Arthur’s hopeful gaze, Celia didn’t find it as easy as he imagined.
Even though she had been by Airael’s side for hundreds of years, she didn’t know everything.
Furthermore, considering the current situation, it was really hard to guess Her Majesty’s true feelings.
So, for a moment, Celia found it difficult to provide her suggestion.
What if she was wrong? Not only would she let Arthur down, but it would also tarnish her own reputation.
After a while, Celia hesitantly looked at Arthur and said, “Um, Mr. Axi.”
Arthur watched her uncertainly.
Celia gritted her teeth and said, “I have a suggestion, but I’m not sure if it’s truly effective.”
Arthur looked a bit dazed and felt disappointed.
Celia felt quite helpless about this too.
She wanted to offer a safer suggestion, but deciphering the thoughts of Her Majesty was just too tricky.
Women’s hearts are like needles in the sea.
Celia felt that Her Majesty’s heart was even more elusive than that of an average woman.
Ultimately, Arthur decided to at least hear her out; having a suggestion was better than having none.
Who knows, it might actually work!
With a glimmer of hope, Arthur looked at Celia and asked, “What’s your suggestion? Please share, I’ll give it a try if it seems feasible.”
“Mm.”
Celia nodded and then said, “I think it doesn’t matter what you give Her Majesty; what truly matters is your heartfelt intentions.”
“My heartfelt intentions?”
Arthur looked puzzled.
Could it be that Airael didn’t understand his feelings?
That shouldn’t be so!
He felt he had been quite clear in expressing himself.
“Gifts are essentially a medium to convey one’s feelings. If they’re valuable, they seem more precious. However, as Her Majesty is a queen, she lacks for nothing. So, in my view, what she truly desires is the sincerity of Mr. Axi.”
Arthur still struggled to understand.
Could it really be this complicated?
Seeing Arthur’s expression, Celia anxiously inquired, “Mr. Axi, don’t you get it?”
She thought she had made her explanation simple enough.
Arthur gave Celia a sheepish smile and replied, “I’m sorry, but I still don’t quite understand.”
“Then what don’t you understand?” Celia asked.
Though it was a bit convoluted, for the sake of her queen’s happiness, she decided to be thorough.
“Celia, you just said that gifts are used to express one’s feelings, so must one use gifts to convey them?”
Arthur asked right away.
Celia shot him a deadpan look.
That question was truly infuriating!
Arthur awkwardly waited for her answer.
Celia took a deep breath and calmly replied, “Of course, you can express your feelings in other ways. Isn’t Her Majesty asking you to bring her a gift?”
After a while, Arthur finally had an epiphany.
Right!
There are many ways to convey heartfelt intentions, and what Airael was testing him on was to express his feelings through a gift.
“Do you understand now, Mr. Axi?”
While Arthur appeared to comprehend, Celia asked again, just to be sure.
“Got it! I’ll go prepare a gift for Airael right away. Thank you, Celia!”
With that, Arthur turned and walked away.
Watching Arthur leave, Celia sighed.
She just hoped that things would turn out as she envisioned—that Her Majesty merely wanted a gift without any specific conditions attached.
Meanwhile, back at Airael’s side.
Airael’s furrowed brow had finally relaxed.
She no longer felt distressed about Arthur bringing her a gift and set the matter aside.
She’d been overly worried earlier and couldn’t think straight, but she had just sorted through her thoughts and realized that the issue wasn’t as hard to resolve as she had anticipated.
It all started when she was angered with Arthur, purposely giving him a hard time.
So, the initiative lay in her hands.
This meant that, as long as she didn’t deliberately make things difficult for Arthur regarding the gift, everything would be fine.
In a much better mood, Airael walked out of her room.
She made her way to the garden where her daughter, Anna, was playing.
Seeing Anna happily frolicking in the garden brought a smile to Airael’s face as well.
However, when she noticed the gemstone necklace around her daughter’s neck, the matter of gifts crossed her mind once more.
Though she was no longer concerned about gifts, she still hoped that Arthur would give her something presentable.
While Airael was lost in her thoughts, Anna spotted her.
She stopped playing with the butterflies and excitedly exclaimed, “Mommy!”
Anna was thrilled to see her mother return.
But she couldn’t help but wonder why her mom was alone this time, without the man who was both her dad and uncle, or Aunt Celia.
Anna’s call caught the attention of Hela and the others, who had been focused on her.
“Your Majesty!”
Hela was the first to bow respectfully.
Airael shifted her gaze from Anna to Hela and said, “Hela, you all go ahead and leave for a while. I’d like to spend some time alone with Anna.”
“Yes!”
Hela quickly complied, leading the elven maidens out of the garden.
