Chapter 91: Giving Gifts
After carefully examining several new gemstone necklaces, Arthur finally settled his gaze on a sapphire necklace.
“This one will do.”
Although the others were beautiful as well, this sapphire reminded Arthur of his daughter’s bright blue eyes.
“Got it! Mr. Axi, I’ll wrap that up for you right away!”
The shopkeeper’s face lit up with a smile.
Even though it was just a transaction, it had fostered a good connection.
At checkout, the shopkeeper even gave Arthur a special discount of 30%.
Once the gift was ready, Arthur hurried off to the royal palace.
He could hardly wait.
“Is the gift ready?”
In the palace hall, Airael, seated on her throne, smiled as she looked down at Arthur who walked in.
Her gaze immediately fell on the beautiful box Arthur held.
Arthur raised the exquisite box and replied, “It’s all prepared.”
“Then follow me,” she said.
With that, Airael stood up and walked outside.
Arthur followed behind her.
The two wandered through the palace, accompanied by Celia.
Soon, they arrived at a courtyard overflowing with flowers.
Upon entering the garden, Arthur spotted his daughter.
Anna was playing in the garden under Hela’s watchful eye.
Beautiful butterflies fluttered around her, completely unafraid.
Anna was delighted to be surrounded by the butterflies, her face glowing with joy.
Seeing their daughter’s cheerful smile brought smiles to both Airael and Arthur.
Airael walked over to Anna.
Arthur and Celia followed closely.
When they heard footsteps, Hela turned around.
She was not surprised to see Airael.
However, upon noticing Arthur, her expression shifted, her brows furrowing slightly.
Arthur noticed Hela’s change in expression and furrowed his own brows.
“Your Majesty!”
As Airael approached, Hela and a group of elven maidens properly bowed.
“Mommy!”
Upon seeing Airael, Anna cast aside her butterfly friends, opened her little arms, and ran towards her.
The butterflies, reluctant to be left behind, pursued her.
Airael beamed as she squatted down to catch Anna, lifting her up in an embrace.
The butterflies that followed danced gracefully around the mother and daughter.
Arthur watched this beautiful scene, momentarily mesmerized.
After a while in Airael’s arms, Anna finally noticed Arthur behind Airael.
Seeing him, her face lit up with joy.
Though she used to feel scared when meeting Arthur, she had gradually warmed up to him and even liked him.
Just as she was about to call out, Airael spoke up, “Anna, this is Uncle Axi, and he’s come here specifically to bring you a gift today.”
Though puzzled by the new title, Anna’s attention was immediately entranced by the gift.
Arthur raised the box in his hand.
With a warm smile, he said, “Hello Anna, this is a special gift I prepared just for you.”
“Thank you, Uncle.”
After expressing her thanks, Anna’s gaze quickly returned to the gift box.
Hearing his daughter call him that, Arthur’s expression froze for a moment.
He longed to hear her call him “Daddy.”
Airael noticed the change in Arthur’s expression, revealing a hint of helplessness and apology.
At this public moment, she couldn’t yet disclose their true relationship.
However, this sense of loss didn’t linger in Arthur’s heart for long.
He quickly recovered, realizing Airael was forced into this position.
Moreover, he was already very happy to see his daughter.
Now, they were finally reunited as a family.
Once Arthur regained himself, Airael smiled and said, “Hela, please help Anna with the gift.”
“Of course!”
Hela stepped forward and took the gift box from Arthur’s hands.
During this exchange, Anna’s gaze remained fixed on the box.
“Mr. Axi, you don’t mind if we open the gift box now, right?”
Airael directed her question toward Arthur, noticing the moment.
“Of course not, Your Majesty. If you want to open it, feel free.”
Arthur replied.
“Hela, open the gift box so Anna can see.”
With Arthur’s permission, Airael turned to Hela.
“Yes!”
Hela immediately started unwrapping the gift box.
After removing the exquisite packaging, a beautiful sapphire necklace appeared before everyone.
Seeing the stunning necklace, Anna’s eyes sparkled with wonder.
“Anna, do you like the gift Uncle Axi gave you?”
Airael asked with a smile.
After glancing at Arthur, she saw him eagerly waiting for Anna’s response.
“I love it!”
Anna replied, her focus still on the sapphire necklace.
“Then let’s try it on!”
Airael said, smiling.
Arthur’s face lit up with anticipation.
Though Hela sensed something was off, she could only wait and see how it unfolded.
“Okay!”
Anna nodded.
With Anne’s consent, Airael used magic to float the necklace out of the box.
The necklace drifted towards Anna, who immediately reached out her hand to grab it.
Yet Airael held her hand down, saying, “Anna, Mommy will help you put it on.”
Next, Airael set Anna down and gently placed the sapphire necklace around her neck.
Once the necklace was on, Anna looked down at her new accessory, her face brimming with happiness.
Seeing his daughter so delighted brought Arthur great joy.
However, due to the nature of their public identities, they couldn’t interact too much as father and daughter.
After the gift exchange, Airael led Arthur away from the garden.
As for Anna, she remained with Hela and the others.
“Celia, you can go do your own thing now. Mr. Axi and I need to discuss some private matters,”
Airael said to Celia, who had followed them out.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Understanding everything, Celia didn’t refuse and quickly stepped aside, allowing the two to have their moment alone.
“Thank you, Aira.”
After Celia left, Arthur expressed his gratitude to Airael.
“Why are you thanking me?”
Airael smiled at Arthur, her eyes sparkling.
He had called her by the correct name.
Perhaps Ailia held significant meaning for Arthur.
But Ailia was ultimately just a temporary alias, not her true name, barely even a nickname.
