Chapter 90: Buying Gifts for My Daughter
Upon hearing the long-awaited answer, Arthur excitedly rushed forward and embraced Airael.
However, Airael felt like she had suddenly crashed into a very hard wall, and this wall was persistently squeezing her body.
Arthur held Airael tightly, as if afraid she would escape from his grasp.
In fact, at this moment, Arthur was somewhat scared.
When Airael had left him before, she hadn’t given him a hint at all.
This made him realize it was already too late.
“Aarthur, I know you’re excited, but could you not hug me so tightly? I can barely breathe!”
Airael frowned in dissatisfaction.
“Sorry, Ailia!”
Realizing his mistake, Arthur hurriedly loosened his grasp and apologized to Airael in his arms.
Although Arthur’s hold was no longer so tight, Airael’s frown did not ease.
She looked at Arthur and asked, “What did you just call me?”
“Ailia!”
Arthur replied, confused.
After he said this, a look of bewilderment froze on his face.
At that moment, he understood why.
Not long ago, Airael had specifically emphasized that he should no longer call her Ailia.
Yet, in a moment of enthusiasm, he had forgotten this point.
“Have you already forgotten what you just said?”
Airael glared at Arthur.
“I didn’t forget; I just overlooked it for a moment,” Arthur replied.
“Overlooking means you didn’t remember.”
Airael ignored his explanation.
At that moment, Arthur felt like a wronged little wife.
He looked at Airael with sincerity and said, “Aira, I truly remember.”
“Hmph—!”
Airael huffed, turning her head away and adding, “I’ll generously forgive you this time. But I’m only giving you this one chance; if you mess up again, I won’t let you off so easily.”
Ecstatic to have Airael’s forgiveness, Arthur replied, “Aira, I promise I will remember what I said and won’t overlook it again.”
Airael’s lips curved into a smile.
She turned her head back to look at Arthur and said, “Let go of me; I’ll take you to meet Anna next.”
Hearing he was going to meet his daughter made Arthur even more excited.
However, he wasn’t so overjoyed that he lost all sense of reason.
After his initial excitement, he frowned and said, “Is it okay for me to go see Anna right now?”
Their private relationship had not been made public.
Although Arthur didn’t mind going public, he respected Airael’s opinions on the matter.
“As my suitor and future husband, what’s the big deal about me taking you to meet our daughter?” Airael replied nonchalantly.
“Since you say so, I’ll go with you to see Anna.”
Airael’s words eased Arthur’s worries as he once again showed his excitement.
Thinking of the adorable daughter he shared with Ailia, Arthur couldn’t wait to see her.
“Hold on, did you bring a gift today?”
Airael shook her head.
“A gift?”
Arthur responded, puzzled.
Airael, looking displeased, said, “Well! Last time I took our daughter to find you, I couldn’t exactly ask for a gift on behalf of her because things were so sudden.
But now that you’re going to see our daughter, you have to bring her a decent gift.”
Indeed, he shouldn’t have expected Arthur to be savvy in this area.
His mind seemed like a literal block of wood when it came to gifts.
Realizing this, Arthur’s face turned troubled.
Meeting his daughter was such an unexpected turn of events.
He now realized he hadn’t prepared a gift at all.
“Aira, can we delay the gift thing for later?”
“No way! Delaying changes the meaning of it, and there will always be more gifts to give later. Don’t you know the saying, ‘Tomorrow and tomorrow, so many tomorrows’?”
“What does that mean?”
Arthur looked confused.
“It means if something can be done today, it should be done today, rather than putting it off until tomorrow.
Because you’ll have more things to do tomorrow as well.
If you keep putting it off, you’ll end up with a mountain of things waiting for you.
At that point, you’ll be in a state of chaos.”
So this saying is telling us that today’s tasks must be done today.
Although he didn’t entirely grasp it, Arthur understood that he couldn’t postpone buying a gift for his daughter.
“I’ll go prepare the gift right away.”
Arthur replied to Airael.
Airael nodded in satisfaction.
“A promising student!”
Just then, Arthur awkwardly looked at Airael and asked, “Um, Aira, can you tell me what Anna likes?”
“She likes pretty, shiny things.”
Airael responded.
Upon hearing this, Arthur’s eyes lit up.
He already thought of what to get his daughter.
Airael smiled, having done this intentionally.
The goal was to help Arthur make up for the time he had lost with their daughter.
On the elven street, Arthur walked briskly.
Soon, he arrived at a luxurious elven jewelry store.
Arthur was now somewhat of a notable figure.
Knowing he could potentially be the future husband of Her Majesty the Queen, the store owner warmly welcomed him.
“Mr. Axi, what can I help you with today?”
“I’d like a gemstone necklace.”
The owner gave Arthur a meaningful glance and then smiled, “Mr. Axi, you’ve come at just the right time; we just received a new batch of gemstone necklaces, and they’re all top-notch.”
“Then please take me to see them.”
“Certainly, Mr. Arthur, right this way.”
Led by the owner, Arthur arrived at a counter.
The counter displayed an array of exquisite gemstone necklaces.
The finely crafted necklaces were adorned with various gemstones.
Rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and more.
Apart from their colors, they also varied in shape.
Arthur was dazzled.
To him, all these gemstone necklaces were gorgeous; each could be deemed a masterpiece in the realm of humans.
However, in the elven race, they were utterly common.
As Arthur stared, the store owner carefully pointed out a few necklaces that were prominently displayed and said, “Mr. Axi, these new arrivals are all top-quality.”
Arthur followed the owner’s finger to see several crystal necklaces inlaid with different gemstones.
Indeed, these necklaces looked even more beautiful than the others around them.
