Chapter 9: Practicing Magic
“So where are we heading next?”
In response to Airael’s question, Domiya smiled and replied, “Naturally, we’re going to a place where you can practice magic.”
Airael’s face was filled with black lines.
She felt Domiya’s answer was as good as no answer at all.
“Your Majesty, please follow me?”
However, Domiya had already started heading out of the classroom without saying anything further.
Airael hurried to catch up.
Hela and the other elves also quickly followed in her footsteps.
Under Domiya’s guidance, the group wove through the exquisite Elven Royal Palace.
With Airael, the Elven Queen, present, they had no trouble getting through.
Before long, an open area came into view.
“This is the training ground specially built in the palace, and only Your Majesty has the privilege to practice here.”
Airael nodded, indicating she understood.
She seemed very calm about having such a vast training ground.
After all, she was the Elven Queen, and everything was as it should be.
So it felt perfectly normal.
To be honest, Airael had already gotten used to this luxurious lifestyle.
“Let’s get started!”
Domiya didn’t say anything more and directly announced the beginning of the magic practice session.
“Teacher Domiya, what should I do next?”
“Do you remember the spellcasting methods I taught you before?”
“I do!”
“Great! Choose a method you like, channel your magic power to connect with the surrounding magical elements, and then arrange them in order according to the magic you want to unleash.”
Airael nodded and began to ponder which method she would use for her spellcasting.
In this world, there were many spellcasting methods.
For instance: reciting incantations, drawing magic circles, using special gestures or hand signs, and so on.
In short, there was a plethora of choices.
If possible, combinations of methods could also be used.
Basically, any spellcasting method helped the caster better control the magical elements around them.
After some thought, Airael finally made a decision.
She started channeling the magic power flowing inside her.
In the next moment, a golden hexagram magic circle, drawn by her own magical power, appeared beneath her feet.
The magic circle was about one meter in diameter and constantly rotated under the support of Airael’s magic power.
As Airael’s magic circle emerged, the magical elements around her instantly began to gather closer.
Choosing to use a magic circle as her spellcasting method?
But this could be a bit challenging!
Domiya raised the corners of her mouth, quietly observing Airael’s next performance.
After all, maintaining a magic circle required the caster to expend effort and magic power deliberately.
Of course, the magic circle also had its own advantages.
Compared to other spellcasting methods, the caster didn’t need to recite those tongue-twisting incantations or make complex gestures…
Just maintain that magic circle and it would gather a steady stream of magical elements for the caster to use.
Airael chose the magic circle spellcasting method partly due to the vivid vision she had when she first obtained the Staff of Eternity yesterday, and partly because she thought it looked super cool.
Compared to other methods, standing on a magic circle and casting powerful magic without any extra movements felt incredibly stylish to Airael.
The power and other aspects didn’t matter for now; looking cool was a lifetime affair.
Feeling the magical elements ready around her, Airael took a deep breath.
Now was the critical moment.
Drawing a magic circle to gather magical elements wasn’t hard; what was difficult was arranging those magical elements in order.
After all, the external magical elements weren’t like the magic power within her body, making them tough to control.
Of course, with a high-level equipment, things would have been much easier.
Airael quickly noticed that the magical elements gathering around her were much harder to control than when she wielded the Staff of Eternity the day before.
Although they were still gathered around her, yesterday’s were a well-trained elite army, while today’s were a ragtag bunch.
Airael felt quite troubled.
How was she supposed to cast spells like this?
“Your Majesty, use your will to control the surrounding magical elements.”
Domiya reminded her from the side.
Upon hearing the reminder, Airael snapped back to reality.
Just now, she had been trying to rely on the Staff of Eternity again.
She needed to depend on herself.
Airael calmed her mind and began to control the magical elements around her.
The magical elements were immediately activated by Airael’s will, forming magic.
Airael gently reached out her right hand, palm facing up.
Suddenly, a flame about the size of a ping-pong ball appeared in her palm.
Seeing the flame, Airael felt quite embarrassed.
Actually, she was planning to unleash the classic magic of the basic spells—the Fireball Technique.
And the difference between the two was just a little too big.
After some thought, Airael realized she had to change the situation.
She began to control more magical elements.
Slowly, the magical elements around her were pulled into her labor force.
The flame in Airael’s palm also gradually grew larger until it was the size of a soccer ball.

She was really satisfied with this outcome.
At least, the fireball in her palm was indeed a real one.
Domiya watched all of this with great satisfaction as well.
As expected of Your Majesty, her ability to gather and control magical elements was far beyond that of ordinary folks.
To successfully control those magical elements to form magic without the aid of a staff during her first attempt was impressive.
Although it took a bit longer, it was totally understandable.
“Very good, Your Majesty, now let’s see the power of the magic you’ve unleashed.”
Airael looked around.
But the surroundings were all empty, with no target to attack.
Noticing Airael’s dilemma, a silver hexagram magic circle much larger than hers appeared beneath Domiya’s feet.
Next, not far from her, a Stone Golem rose from the earth, standing still as if it were taking on the role of a target.
Airael immediately sent her soccer-sized fireball flying towards the stationary Stone Golem.
However, what happened next left Airael even more embarrassed.
The fireball missed the Stone Golem entirely and instead dropped weakly to the ground, bursting apart.

Airael’s mouth hung open in disbelief at the ridiculous scene before her.
The magic she had worked so hard to gather ended up in such a comical fashion.
