Chapter 89: Successful Confession
“Airael, what am I supposed to understand?”
Arthur looked at Airael in confusion.
Seeing Arthur still missing the point, Airael took a deep breath, pointed at herself, and said, “I am the Elven Queen.”
Then she pointed at Arthur: “Though you are just a small Lord of the Human Race now, your status may see significant changes in the future. So, think about it—will our identities being together really be a small matter?”
Airael had made her point very clear.
Arthur easily understood her words.
But then, as he grasped the significance of her message, he fell silent.
Understanding the implications, Arthur realized the tremendous weight behind Airael’s words.
This was something that could affect the survival and continuation of both the Human and Elven Races, and indeed all races in the world.
Though Arthur had thought about this before, he hadn’t delved into it deeply.
Now that Airael brought it up, he had to confront such a heavyweight topic.
Looking at the silent Arthur, Airael sighed and spoke up, “Arthur, what you said before isn’t wrong. There are many commonalities between Elves and Humans, but even with these common points, there are also plenty of contradictions. It’s not just between two races; even within a race, there are many conflicts, especially evident among your kind.”
After hearing Airael’s words, Arthur grew even more silent.
He knew all this.
But knowing was one thing; solving it was another matter entirely.
Airael went on, “Where there are contradictions, there will inevitably be struggles. If these struggles escalate, they can lead to war. When that happens, no matter how many common points exist, it won’t stop the arrival of war.”
Just as Arthur sank into contemplation about Airael’s statements, he suddenly sensed something was off.
He looked at Airael and spoke, “No one can say for certain about those things. Airael, I know that our union will certainly cause a great stir and significantly change the situation in this world, but I still hope you would be willing to marry me.”
Arthur’s expression was resolute.
Airael managed a wry smile and shook her head, saying, “I never said I wouldn’t marry you. I just want to tell you: Arthur, are you prepared to welcome everything that comes with me?
Maybe in the next moment, we will become enemies to the world.”
Airael spoke with certainty.
Arthur had no doubts about it.
He knew what it meant for him to marry Airael according to the contract made between their two races.
But for that, he didn’t care anymore.
Moreover, things might not be as bad as Airael imagined.
Although others might become envious, they were not entirely a united front.
As Airael mentioned earlier, conflicts abound even among humans.
Not only are there many contradictions between countries, but there are also many conflicts among the nobility within a country.

Therefore, Arthur looked at Airael with a calm expression and said, “Airael, I am ready. I will do everything I can to protect you and Anna.”
Airael smiled.
She smiled brightly.
Even though Arthur’s words seemed naive, she could see his determination within them.

He held himself and his daughter in high regard.
To be honest, entrusting her and her daughter’s future to a man like Arthur made Airael feel at ease.

After arriving in this world, she should begin her new life, not dwell on her previous one.

After all, she was now a mother.
If everything went well, she would soon have a second child.
Arthur felt a bit dazed for a moment.
He couldn’t understand why Airael suddenly smiled, but soon he got lost in the warmth of her smile.

Arthur couldn’t resist at all.
A silly grin appeared on his face.

“You don’t need to be so shy; we’re an old married couple now, and I know very well how charming I am.”
Airael’s words ignited a warmth in Arthur’s heart.
The term “old married couple” was filled with implications.
It prompted the already restless little Arthur to recall some indescribable earlier moments, making him even harder to control.
Noticing Arthur’s embarrassment, Airael’s smile widened.
Arthur felt a surge of frustration.
But that flame of anger couldn’t be released.
Especially since he still needed Airael’s response.
Seeing that Airael still had no intention of speaking, Arthur bluntly asked, “Airael, can you tell me what your answer is?”
“Didn’t I just say it?”
“What did you just say?”
Arthur was utterly baffled.
Did he lose his memory?
He didn’t recall Airael replying to him.
Airael thought for a moment and realized she hadn’t given Arthur a clear answer.
“Uh, um—!”
She awkwardly cleared her throat and said, “Arthur, before I give you a precise answer, I still have one more thing to mention.”
“Airael, feel free to say whatever’s on your mind.”
Arthur urged eagerly.
He desperately wanted an answer, not for Airael to continue teasing him.
Especially the answer he so hoped for.
“After I agree to you, even if we get married, Anna and I won’t be moving in with you for now. It’s simply safer here than at your place.”
Upon hearing Airael’s words, which initially stirred uncertainty within him, Arthur felt completely at ease and smiled, replying, “Airael, I have no objections to that.”
Looking at the happy Arthur, Airael finally revealed the answer that Arthur had been anxiously waiting for: “If that’s the case, then I agree to marry you.”
After saying this, Airael felt immensely relieved.
Recently, she had been troubled by this matter.
Though there might be many troubles ahead, she decided to deal with those later.
