Chapter 88: Misunderstanding
Chen Ansheng stood up, preparing to head behind the tall grave in the distance.
“Junior Brother Chen, where are you going?” Yao Jianyuan asked.
“Just looking for a place to take care of some business, cough cough.”
Chen Ansheng casually brushed off the question.
“Make sure you go further away, and don’t defile the ancestral grave. If you’re caught, the consequences will be severe,” Yao Jianyuan reminded him.
“Got it, got it.” Chen Ansheng left without a care.
The ancestral grounds were vast, with hundreds of thousands of disciples, many moving around in pairs or small groups, so Chen Ansheng didn’t need to be discreet.
Strolling leisurely to the back of the tall grave, Chen Ansheng saw a beautiful woman squatting there, she must be the demoness in disguise.
Chen Ansheng concealed his aura and sneaked over, squatting down beside the woman: “Senior Sister, it’s not that I’m meddling, but just take a look at what mischief you’ve been up to!”
Hearing the noise, the woman turned her head, immediately turning pale, with a look of wanting to cry but having no tears. She said, “I’m sorry, I… I had no choice, please don’t tell the Elder, okay?”
Chen Ansheng rolled his eyes, the demoness had just threatened to report him, and now she seemed scared. He rubbed his hands together and said, “If you don’t want anyone to know, hehe… you know what I mean.”
The woman nervously looked around. If her disrespect toward the Old Ancestor were discovered by her seniors, she feared she would be stripped of her cultivation and expelled from the cave, ruining her life.
“I promise you can do whatever you want, just please don’t report me, woo woo…” the woman said, her voice trembling with tears.
Chen Ansheng was taken aback. What was this demoness playing at? Acting so pitiful, she must be messing with him. Hmph.
So she wants to put on a show, huh? I’ll play along.
“Then I won’t hold back, Senior Sister…” Chen Ansheng lunged at her, accidentally pushing her down to the ground.
Something was wrong… very wrong.
Why is she so weak? Why is she closing her eyes without resisting?
“Thud!”
Chen Ansheng felt a hit on his head, and a cold voice came: “You stupid donkey, is it so shameless you can take action in public?”
“Ah…”
The woman finally covered her mouth, let out a startled cry, and quickly got up, lifting her skirt and dashing away.
Chen Ansheng looked at the puddle on the ground and realized he made a mistake; that little junior sister was not the demoness, she was just hiding here to relieve herself?
So… she was afraid he would report her for disrespecting the ancestor and thus promised…
“Damn it, Junior Sister, don’t go! Let me explain…”
Chen Ansheng’s face turned red as he wanted to chase after her but was pulled back by Zhong Li.
“Enough, stop pretending. How shameless you are is your business; I won’t interfere.” Zhong Li looked at him with disdain.
Chen Ansheng was speechless and sighed, thinking that the pretty junior sister wouldn’t dare to spread the word, a misunderstanding is a misunderstanding. What a pity the demoness came an hour early, phew!
After a moment of silence, Chen Ansheng solemnly said, “Senior Sister, it’s not that I’m criticizing you. Just look at what you’ve been up to!”
Zhong Li’s expression darkened. She had been watching Chen Ansheng’s every word and action and finally snapped back, “I’m sorry, should I respond with, ‘Please don’t tell the Elder!’?”
Chen Ansheng was startled, awkwardly laughing, “Just a joke, let’s talk about serious matters.”
Zhong Li glared at him in frustration and said, “Give me the spirit liquid.”
Chen Ansheng replied, “What about the treasure? Share some with me.”
Zhong Li, as if receiving an order, reluctantly took out a small piece of metal plate.
Oh?
What a coincidence, I have one too!
Seeing that metal plate reminded Chen Ansheng of the one he obtained from the forbidden area of the lower realm, which was much larger than her fragment.
The demoness risked her life for this? Who knows what it’s useful for.
“Why are you dawdling? The spirit liquid!”
Zhong Li was already injured, and now her celestial power was depleted, making her feel extremely uncomfortable, hence her eagerness for the spirit liquid.
“Why the rush?” Chen Ansheng said nonchalantly, “First, tell me what this is, what’s it used for?”
Zhong Li looked like she wanted to strangle this silly donkey, “Chen Gongzi, do you believe I’ll take you down with me?”
Seeing Zhong Li’s eerily calm expression, Chen Ansheng knew he couldn’t provoke her anymore. “Alright, alright, I believe you, just don’t play tricks on me.”
Then, Chen Ansheng took out ten drops of spirit liquid. Zhong Li quickly grabbed them and began to refine and absorb them.
“Whew.”
After most of her pain subsided, Zhong Li’s face turned rosy, looking entirely relaxed and rejuvenated.
“I know you must have a lot of spirit liquid tucked away, stop being stingy, give me a jar.” Zhong Li thought she understood Chen Ansheng well; with his cowardly personality, he must be hiding plenty of spirit liquid, otherwise, he wouldn’t be selling it.
Seeing Chen Ansheng looking around as if he hadn’t heard, Zhong Li added, “Think carefully, once this anomaly in the world passes, the experts from Qian Yue Cave will definitely come for you, and don’t blame me for not helping.”
Chen Ansheng said, “Then you must swear that you will ensure my safety no matter the situation.”
This oath was something Zhong Li longed for, and if she had to act to save him in the future, she wouldn’t have to cover it up with excuses. “Fine, I swear by my soul’s blood that in any crisis, I will share life and death with Junior Brother Chen Ansheng. If I break this oath, may heaven and man conspire to destroy me. Are you satisfied now?”
Chen Ansheng was momentarily stunned. It seems he had misunderstood the demoness all along; she truly valued loyalty, daring to make such an oath.
Then, Chen Ansheng smiled and said, “I was just joking; Senior Sister, you took it seriously, making me look like a petty person. My bad, my bad.”
Zhong Li, exhausted, said, “Shut up, the spirit liquid.”
Spirit liquid? I have plenty, and I could keep producing it, it’s no big deal.
Chen Ansheng filled three small jars and handed them to the demoness. “Now, you should tell me what treasure lies in the forbidden zone.”
After absorbing some spirit liquid, Zhong Li felt completely at ease, and she didn’t want to beat around the bush with Chen Ansheng, fearing it would tire her out. She said, “It’s a technique. The metal plate contains the technique from the Alien Immortal Realm!”
“That’s it?” Chen Ansheng thought it would be something that would drastically increase his cultivation. Instead, it was merely a technique. “Not to mention what the Alien Immortal Realm is, that technique doesn’t align with the laws of the universe; what use is it?”
“Fool!” Zhong Li blurted out, “If you can master the technique from the Alien Immortal Realm during the opening of the Alien World, you can still exert a certain level of combat power. Do you think that is useless?”
Chen Ansheng frowned slightly.
If looked at this way, it indeed held some value.
Just imagine, if he could master the techniques of the Alien Immortal Realm and have a massive quantity of spirit liquid in hand, wouldn’t those elders and cave masters with depleted celestial power outside be at his mercy?
However, Chen Ansheng had a question: “Senior Sister, this technique seems to only be useful under the rules of the Alien World. Is it worth you going to such lengths to obtain it?”
Zhong Li rolled her eyes at Chen Ansheng and said, “You really are dense. The forbidden area contains not only techniques but also other treasures that do not exist in our Immortal Realm. Once cultivated successfully, you could seek treasures in other forbidden areas, significantly increasing your chances of gaining benefits compared to others!”
Chen Ansheng finally nodded slowly, “That makes sense. The question is, can you read the characters on it?”
