Chapter 87: The Couple’s Showdown
Crown lay on the ground, his eyes wide open.
He lost!
Hearing Arthur’s words, he had no reaction at all.
Arthur sighed and turned away, no longer looking at Crown.
There was little more he could say; if Crown still couldn’t understand, then so be it.
“The final victor is Axi from the Machia Republic!”
With the host announcing the competition results, elven priests came up with two guards to take Crown away for healing.
In the stands, Celia cheerfully said, “Miss, Mr. Axi is the one who won!”
Airael didn’t respond to Celia.
She looked down at Arthur, her lips curving into a slight smile.
Since Arthur had gone this far for her, there was really no need to hesitate anymore.
Since the storm was coming, let it come even fiercer!
As the competition concluded and participants exited, the audience in the stands began to disperse.
Airael and Celia blended in among them.
As they walked back to the Avalon Royal Palace, Celia leaned closer and whispered, “Miss, should we not go see Mr. Axi?”
“Why would I want to see him?”
Airael paused, turning to respond to Celia.
Celia quickly added, “Mr. Axi achieved the ultimate victory, so you don’t have to marry those human suitors you dislike.”
“Who told you I like Axi?” Airael asked back.
After saying this, she resumed her steps toward the palace.
Celia watched Airael’s retreating figure, covering her mouth to stifle a laugh.
Airael’s appearance right now was utterly one of evasion, betraying her inner turmoil.
Your Majesty, if you have no feelings for Mr. Axi, why would you think of him as a possible father for your children, or even seek him out after he came to the Elven Race?
After Airael returned to the palace, on the other side, Arthur also returned to the inn.
He was now quite the hot topic.
As the competition winner, he was just one step away from becoming the Elven Queen’s man.
In fact, Arthur had already crossed that line; only confirmation was left.
In the afternoon, Celia arrived at the inn where Arthur was staying.
Unlike the previous disguise and stealthy approach, this time she came boldly, bringing along a squad of Royal Palace Guards.
In the inn room, Celia looked at Axi and smiled, “Mr. Axi, Her Majesty wishes to see you.”
“You are Celia.”
Looking at Celia’s figure, Arthur spoke out.
“That’s right, Mr. Axi, you might have heard of me before,” Celia replied.
Arthur nodded.
Then, he followed Celia to the Elven Royal Palace.
Previously, he had only wandered through the elven city.
Now seeing the Elven Royal Palace, Arthur had to admit that his understanding was once again refreshed.
Compared to the city, this palace was built with far more elegance and beauty.
Celia brought Arthur into the grand hall of the palace.
When he arrived, Airael was already sitting on the throne, waiting for him.
Dressed in her ceremonial garments, she looked both dignified and sacred.
Arthur was momentarily mesmerized.
It was his first time seeing Airael in this way.
As Arthur admired Airael, she was also looking at him.
Satisfaction filled Airael’s heart at his reaction.
Then, she shifted her gaze from Arthur to Celia and said, “Celia, you all can leave now. I’d like to have a private talk with this Mr. Axi.”
“Yes!” Celia replied with a bow, then took the guards with her as they left the hall.
After a while, only Airael and Arthur remained in the grand hall.
At this moment, Arthur had regained his senses.
He looked at Airael on the throne, smiled, and bowed, saying, “Good afternoon, Your Majesty!”
“Good afternoon, brave warrior from the human kingdom,” Airael replied, her expression still smiling.
After exchanging pleasantries, she continued, “I hope sending Celia to invite you didn’t disturb you?”
Airael still wore her smile.
She found this quite amusing.
“It didn’t! I’m genuinely delighted to be summoned by Your Majesty,” Arthur replied.
Airael stood up and stepped down the steps, approaching Arthur, and said, “Then tell me, am I as beautiful as the rumors suggest?”
In the split second, the goddess high above transformed into a charming little enchantress, while still retaining some of her earlier dignity and grace.
Arthur’s heart raced, feeling as if it could hardly take it.
Seeing Arthur’s reaction, Airael couldn’t help but smile with delight.
She was quite confident in her charm.
Not to mention that Arthur, the ice block, had already melted on his own.
Realizing he had lost to Airael, Arthur nonetheless decided the act could still go on: “Your Majesty is beautiful, even more so than rumored.”
Though he had never spoken such sweet words before, it came out naturally now.
Airael regarded Arthur with surprise in her eyes.
But soon, she dismissed it, looking at Arthur with a smile and saying, “Your words are sweet, but that’s not enough to satisfy me. You should know, you winning was merely an opportunity; whether you seize it or not is up to you.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her lips were suddenly sealed by Arthur.
He pulled Airael into his embrace and leaned down, kissing her deeply.
Mmm—!
Caught off guard, Airael froze for a moment but then began to struggle lightly.
Only symbolic struggles; there was honestly no escape from Arthur’s hold.
Once the kiss ended, Airael and Arthur gazed at each other, both breathing a little heavily.
Looking at those enticing lips he had just kissed, Arthur smiled.
“You, you really are putting that mouth to use!”
Watching his expression, Airael replied with mock annoyance.
“Does my mouth satisfy Your Majesty?”
Arthur asked with a beaming smile.
“Not satisfied!” Airael shook her head.
“Really?”
“Really!” Airael affirmed.
Even if she were satisfied, she would say otherwise.
Yet in the next instant, Arthur’s lips found hers again.
That familiar feeling washed over Airael, making it hard for her to resist.
Mmm—!
Airael struggled again.
But it was still just a symbolic struggle, without much force.
After enough kissing, Arthur pulled back and asked again, “Is Your Majesty satisfied now?”
Airael huffed softly and replied, “Do you think this will make me yield? You’re underestimating me too much.”
