Chapter 86: Let Me See If Your Development Is Normal
“You… you are guilty of deceiving the emperor!”
Qian Miaoyu flushed with anger, embarrassment, or perhaps jealousy, as she pointed accusingly at Zhang Chuqiao.
She felt as if her young heart had been dealt a heavy blow.
The failure of her scheme against Zhou Tong had already left her quite discouraged, and now to face this woman’s mockery was a disgrace to the Empress’s dignity.
What was even more infuriating was that this woman was not only unbelievably beautiful but also strong in every aspect, leaving her feeling defeated.
“I am deceiving the emperor; if you can, go ahead and kill me.”
Zhang Chuqiao said teasingly, leaving the Empress momentarily speechless.
She couldn’t do that; this woman clearly had a deep relationship with a Guest Senior, and how could she dare offend her?
“Get away; I don’t want to see you anymore!”
In her frustration, the Empress could only lash out in anger.
“I see you’re playing with fire!”
Zhang Chuqiao smirked, grabbing Qian Miaoyu and, with a quick move, throwing her onto the bed, then pressing against her.
“Ah!! How dare you…”
“Don’t shout; you wouldn’t want me to stuff your mouth with my socks, would you?”
Zhang Chuqiao warned domineeringly, as her delicate hand slid down her slender beautiful leg, pulling off a snow-white sock.
This scene made the Empress’s face turn pale with fright.
“I… I am the ruler of a nation; you cannot treat me this way! Otherwise, I will have the Guest Senior teach you a lesson.”
Qian Miaoyu weakly threatened.
To her surprise, Zhang Chuqiao became even more excited, smiling seductively, “It’s a deal then; I’ve been wanting to be bullied by my Junior Apprentice Brother, but unfortunately, he’s just a blockhead!”
“Next, I plan to have some fun with you, so don’t forget to convince your Junior Apprentice Brother!”
“Let me see if the development of the Empress is normal!”
“Don’t! Please stop!”
“Be good and let me have a look!”
Zhang Chuqiao grinned wickedly as she suppressed the Empress, her hands poised to act when suddenly, a brilliant golden light flashed around the Empress, sending her flying away.
The Empress immediately sat up, hurriedly rearranging her disheveled clothes, looking like a frightened little rabbit as she stared warily at Zhang Chuqiao.
“What was that thing? It seems you have some secrets!”
Zhang Chuqiao’s expression immediately turned cold.
The golden light from earlier had startled her; the energy contained was terrifying.
With such a trump card, Qian Miaoyu was still pretending to be so weak, and even Zhou Tong was unaware; this was hardly the attitude a qualified ally should have.
“This is my secret; I cannot tell you.”
Qian Miaoyu had stopped calling herself “I” and crossed her arms defensively.
“A secret? How ridiculous! Do you know how much risk your Junior Apprentice Brother took to save you? Do you think you can just brush me off with those two words?”
Zhang Chuqiao was really angry, stepping closer, “I must see your true face today!”
However, suddenly, her brow twitched, and she halted her advance.
“What’s wrong?” the Empress asked curiously.
“Some filthy insects have crawled in…”
As she spoke, an astonishing killing intent erupted from Zhang Chuqiao, only to be perfectly restrained moments later.
“Stay here and don’t move; I’ll deal with them!”
“Do you need to notify the Guest Senior?” the Empress nervously asked.
“No need; as long as you don’t wander around, you’ll be safe.”
As her words fell, Zhang Chuqiao vanished from the palace.
Time flowed slowly; for Qian Miaoyu, each minute felt like a year.
During this time, she repeatedly wanted to summon her guards and inform Zhou Tong, but thinking of Zhang Chuqiao’s words made her hold back.
For the weak, following the commands of the strong was an important survival principle.
“Pat pat pat…”
In less than a quarter of an hour, footsteps approached, with no attempt at concealment.
Qian Miaoyu perked up her ears, readying for battle.
In the next moment, her pupils constricted as she saw Zhang Chuqiao return, holding two severed heads.
“They are…”
“Two practitioners from the Life-Death Realm, sneaking around outside your chamber, and I took care of them.”
The calmness of her words crashed into Qian Miaoyu’s ears like thunder.
These were strong individuals from the Life-Death Realm, capable of leading second-rate sects, yet Zhang Chuqiao had taken them down effortlessly.
Given her unblemished attire and calm demeanor, it was clear she had done so with ease.
“No wonder she is by the side of the Guest Senior; truly terrifying.”
“Alright, let’s disregard those ant-like matters and continue.”
Zhang Chuqiao casually dropped the heads to the ground, setting her sights back on the Empress.
“I’m just a weak woman; how could I have any ill intentions? Why are you, this great expert, making things difficult for me?”
Qian Miaoyu had no choice but to submit obediently.
“Weak woman? You have too many tricks up your sleeve! Don’t think I don’t know your purpose behind the martial arts matchmaking!”
“What purpose… I just wanted…”
The Empress attempted to defend herself but was once again forced down onto the bed.
“You unrefined fox dare to show off in front of me; truly delusional!”
“I only warn you once; the Junior Apprentice Brother belongs to me and Xiao Yue. If you dare to lay a finger on him, do you believe I’ll hang you up and beat you?”
Qian Miaoyu fell silent; her little thoughts had been thoroughly seen through, and she felt both shy and scared.
Just then, her savior arrived.
“What’s going on?”
Zhou Tong’s voice came, having just returned from outside the palace after sensing the fluctuations of a fight.
“Junior Apprentice Brother!”
Zhang Chuqiao displayed a gentle smile, enough to melt ice and bring back spring.
Qian Miaoyu also secretly breathed a sigh of relief; this woman was truly too frightening, making her, as the Empress, feel immense pressure.
“This is…”
Zhou Tong had just noticed the two severed heads on the ground and quickly understood the situation.
“Unrest that won’t dissipate,” he sneered.
“Do you know them?”
“These people are You Chong’s subordinates, either looking to settle scores with you or trying to abduct the Empress.”
Zhou Tong perfectly identified the answer. Just moments ago, he had settled Qian Miaoyu and went to track this group down to uncover their background.
He had caught a lone underling and performed a soul search, learning some secrets, realizing that they belonged to a faction called the “Celestial Master Clan.”
Unfortunately, the underling was of too low a status to reveal more information, and after Zhou Tong hypnotized him, he was released casually.
“The Celestial Master Clan seems quite powerful, but why have I never heard of this faction in my past life?”
“Could it be that… the Celestial Master Clan was destroyed before I grew up?”
After laying out everything he knew, Zhang Chuqiao’s brows shot up.
“Are these guys looking to harm Xiao Yue?”
“Just speculation.”
“No need for speculation; let’s go after them tonight and find out!” Zhang Chuqiao declared decisively.
Zhou Tong raised both hands in agreement; he thought the same.
Under the Empress’s astonished gaze, the two changed into night gear and soon vanished into the night sky.
“Good luck to you both.”
Qian Miaoyu quietly prayed; her concern wasn’t for Zhou Tong and Zhang Chuqiao, but for the unfortunate souls who would soon face them.
