Chapter 835: Dusk Harbor
“Please board the train in an orderly manner.”
Under the coordination of the station staff, the crowd boarded the still brand-new train in an orderly fashion. The metal body of the train reflected a faint golden light under the sun. It seemed to be made of some kind of specially crafted alloy, very sturdy, somewhat heavy, giving a sense of solid weight and texture.
After boarding the train, Lolan Hill and Ye Ling sat opposite each other, with a window that could slide open beside them.
“This is a train? How special.” Ye Ling looked around curiously.
“Yes, its principle is similar to the school’s magic-guided vehicles, but now it’s more widespread, and the designs are quite different,” Lolan Hill explained.
“Currently, most trains in Clancia use magic-guided steam turbines, while the school’s magic-guided vehicles use magic furnaces as power sources.”
“Woah, Lolan is starting to talk about complex magic-guided technology again.”
Ye Ling raised her hand in surrender; she disliked the incredibly complex alchemy of magic-guided technology the most in the academy. Fortunately, she was studying the Dragon Sequence, so she didn’t need much of this kind of coursework.
“Alright, then I won’t go into it.” Lolan Hill affectionately rubbed Ye Ling’s head and then turned to look out the window.
The whistle sounded, and a burst of hot air escaped from the chimney. Then, the train shook slightly, and the sound of steel wheels rhythmically rolling and clattering on the tracks could be heard. The speed increased until finally, the entire train left the station and quickly moved forward on the tracks.
On the light green wilderness, some white clouds drifted in the sky.
The tender shoots and flowers emerging from the ground swayed in the sunlight and wind. As the distant whistle drew closer, a long steel dragon-like train passed through this land. The sound of the high-speed rotating wheels merged into a continuous noise, and the strong wind generated by the train swept up some grass and petals, carrying them into the sky.
Since Clancia defeated the Empire and successfully resisted the invasion, recovery and construction work had been bustling within the country.
Many excellent scholars and mages were also involved in this effort. Some came from Emanas, others from several prestigious universities built by Clancia, and some were exchange students from the Juvenile Moon Council.
Under their meticulous design, detailed and beautiful city preview blueprints were distributed to the construction teams. Breaking away from old shackles, these new architectural styles were diverse and beautiful, showcasing a new era of openness and grandeur.
Some of the city buildings resembled huge circles, with the central structures connected by streets like tree canopies. From above, it looked like
As beautiful as a large tree pattern.
Some cities were built along the mountains, with tall brick and stone buildings merging seamlessly with the mountain lines, exuding a natural and lofty aura. Other cities were constructed deep within massive canyons, with tiered houses built into the cliff walls, and waterfalls flowing through them.
After uniting many races and ethnic groups, the designers of Clancia freely experimented with various styles, no longer constrained by the past, striving to achieve a new kind of beauty.
In the moving train, the scenery outside the window continuously approached and receded, revealing a grand and magnificent beauty that spanned mountains and rivers.
“Look, Lolan!”
While Lolan Hill was lost in thought, recalling the people and events from her memories, Ye Ling suddenly shouted happily, pointing ahead.
The young lady couldn’t help but turn her gaze to the window, where a vast expanse of brilliant gold engulfed her view.
On the fresh green wilderness, countless tender green stems stood proudly in the wind, their tips adorned with small yellow flowers that gathered together, filling the air with a familiar fragrance.
It was the blooming of rapeseed flowers in spring.
They had no elegant names or titles, being so common and plain. But when the golden sea of flowers swayed across the hills outside the train, another grand beauty flooded her heart.
Lolan Hill watched the flourishing golden flower sea, occasionally hearing the passengers’ exclamations and comments.
“How beautiful~” a girl whispered softly.
“What a huge field of flowers, I can’t see the end. How many have they planted?” a companion added.
“These are all oil, just like the cooking oil we use at home,” said a mother nearby, teaching her child.
“How is that possible? Those are clearly flowers; how could they turn into oil?” the child asked, puzzled.
“Haha, of course, it’s done with that wondrous machinery. In the future, you’ll need to learn these things too,” she replied.
“Really? I will definitely learn it,” the child said joyfully.
“It’s wonderful,” Lolan Hill felt a gentle sense of comfort and happiness listening to these voices.
The wheels continued to move forward, carrying the passengers from the southern region of Clancia northward, passing through several provinces. People got on and off the train intermittently, and at dusk, the train stopped at a station.
“Hopeland has arrived,” the alchemical audio device inside the carriage announced the conductor’s voice, followed by a long deceleration sound as the train gradually came to a halt.
“Let’s stay here for a few days,” Lolan Hill told Ye Ling, then the two stood up and walked toward the door.
Stepping off the train, they set foot on the hard, smooth marble.
After stepping off the station platform, a gentle sea breeze swept over from afar.
The tall station was not built like the church-like Backwind Port station. Instead, it adopted an open design, allowing one to overlook the distant golden beach from the platform. The fragmented face of the sunset entered their eyes.
I’m back again. I wonder if those people are still here.
Lolan Hill raised her arm slightly to shield the golden afterglow, gazing at the city she had been away from for so long.
It was still that crescent-shaped seaside city, still with its brick-red rooftiles, and still with houses in the Bavarian style, but the layout of the streets and the main buildings were slightly different from before.
“What a beautiful city,” Ye Ling said, standing still and looking at the world dyed red by the sunset glow.
“Yes, I stayed here for some time before.”
The young lady sighed softly, then walked out of the station with Ye Ling, holding a wicker box in hand.
Wearing light-colored leather shoes, she stepped lightly on the steps, walking down toward the street, where the scenery gradually came into view.
On both sides of the street, iron street lamps hung with flower-like lights emitting orange-yellow glows, with pale purple glass petals wrapped around the bases of the lamps, creating a very elegant and tranquil sight when viewed together.
Although it was getting darker, the street remained lively, with people everywhere. Under the illumination of alchemical lanterns, vendors enthusiastically hawked their goods—redwood handicrafts, tropical fruits from the southern islands, engraved daggers from falcons, and various local grilled fish. The night market had just begun.
Walking through the bustling street, Lolan Hill and Ye Ling strolled leisurely, occasionally stopping to look at various things and eat snacks. They continued until they reached the street near the sea, where the sound of fireworks exploded, followed by several colorful rockets ascending into the deep blue twilight sky.
“Welcome everyone’s presence. Tonight we will celebrate here.”
“Celebrate, the noble mage who inherited the alchemical techniques of generations,
transcending the past era,
the electric songstress who understands the beauty of connecting music and magic,
her name is, Lan Lir.”
Amidst the sound of fireworks blooming, people cheered loudly. On the seaside Tide Stage, a songstress dressed in a shimmering gold dress slowly ascended the stage, and her wild, electric voice echoed through the air.
Like an electric current reverberating through the body, accompanied by the flowing electric light from the guitar, the explosive waves surged through the crowd.
Under the sweep of new-era skills, the forms of music and songs had taken on a brand new direction.
