Chapter 78 Echoes
I am very sorry for the late update today as many things happened.
Last night, I stayed up all night waiting for the review response in the morning. At half past nine, I received a reply from the site, but it was still not approved. My heart sank instantly.
I got up to eat something, lay down for a nap, and only woke up drowsily at noon at twelve. Then I opened my phone and saw that it was already half past eleven. There was another message saying that another editor had taken an interest in me and notified me that if I switched groups, I could sign the contract.
For a moment, it felt like a new dawn after a dark night, just like in a novel, and my heart leaped with joy once again.
With trepidation, I quickly contacted the editor who left the message. Finally, after half an hour, I received a positive response, and the stone in my heart slowly settled.
In the afternoon, I began filling out the forms on the backend according to the process. After the application was approved, I walked one kilometer to a store to print the contract, then placed an order through the SF Express app for delivery. It was already eight o’clock when I returned to my place.
Sitting in front of the computer, I still couldn’t believe it, feeling as if I were dreaming. I thought I would only truly feel that I had signed the contract when I received my salary someday. Haha.
I have read novels for many years, and this year, I decided to try writing one for the first time. During the first half of the year, I used my spare time after work to write intermittently. However, that book was still immature and did not get signed. It helped me accumulate some experience.
The treatment at work was average, and the company was small with little prospects. After the pandemic ended, I originally planned to change jobs, but the idea of writing a novel suddenly came back to me. After hesitating and weighing my options for several days, I thought I would always regret not trying. So, I started preparing at my place, and that’s how this book came about.
Some friends advised me that it was too risky, but I still wanted to chase my dream. After all, I had read so many novels over the years, and there were some emotions I wanted to express.
Starting alone at the beginning, I gradually gained some readers. Seeing my collection steadily increase, I felt very happy inside. It was like a chef who made a table full of delicious dishes and felt satisfied watching everyone enjoy them.
When I didn’t get the contract before, I originally wanted to give up and start a new book. At that time, I had already stopped updating. But even after midnight, some readers still gave me recommendation tickets, and it was still the familiar names. Moved, I silently changed the status of my updates to three to four days per chapter in the backend, and then wrote a chapter every day. Slowly, I resumed double updates, and finally, I persisted and achieved today’s results.
I wouldn’t say it was particularly great, but having gone through it personally, it was quite moving. (Previously, it felt too awkward, so I revised it.)
Thank you very much for your support all along.
And now, I am one step closer to my dream.
