Chapter 74

“Fate’s Sky” Episode 4 instantly sparked heated discussions among all viewers the moment it was released.

Truth be told, it’s no surprise that new anime from Ragnar always generate buzz. After all, shows like “Knight Shin Chronicle” and “Life and Death Department” were consistently hot topics too, weren’t they?

But this time, “Fate’s Sky” Episode 4 has captured attention for slightly different reasons.

You see, those reasons go something like this:

“Akemenes, right? Holy crap, heroes from the mythic age really are in a league of their own. Who knew humans could reach such heights?”

“Krysto, even though the knight girl was powerful, the great hero is truly in a class by himself. I have no idea how anyone could possibly beat him.”

“I think this great hero is way stronger than most outsiders from ‘Knight Shin Chronicle.’ Am I imagining things?”

“Are you kidding me? From what I’ve seen, not even a couple of Knight Shins could take him down. Do you personally know Great Hero-sama or something?”

In the past, the main reason “Knight Shin Chronicle” and “Life and Death Department” became huge talking points was their shocking plot twists.

Like when Kai’s friend Luke died due to the out-of-control Zero Unit in Episode 17 of “Knight Shin Chronicle.”

Or when Earth shattered into pieces during the Third Apocalypse in Episode 25.

These completely unexpected story developments kept audiences hooked. But this time, “Fate’s Sky” is showing us something different.

Sure, “Fate’s Sky” still features fast-paced, shocking developments like its predecessors.

The protagonist got mercilessly killed by Krysto in the first episode. Episodes 2 and 3 had relentless chase scenes and dazzling action sequences.

But despite all that, the story development in Episode 4 of “Fate’s Sky” was truly shocking to viewers.

Great Hero Akemenes – a legendary figure known to everyone in the empire, practically a fairytale character.

This mythical hero appeared as the antagonist trying to kill the protagonist Yuri.

And not just any ordinary hero – one so powerful that even six other heroes combined couldn’t hope to defeat him.

While it makes sense that a hero from the mythic age would be this strong…

From the audience’s perspective, it’s impossible to imagine how the protagonist could possibly overcome such an overwhelming enemy.

At least with “Knight Shin Chronicle,” no matter how powerful the outsiders were, they could always be beaten by an out-of-control Zero Unit.

And in “Life and Death Department,” Louis’ carelessness and Mari’s interference allowed Alpha to uncover Zodiac’s identity.

But how can Yuri and the mysterious girl hope to defeat such a monstrous foe?

“Seriously, isn’t the ability to win thirteen consecutive battles without fail kind of overpowered?”

“Maybe if it was a weak hero, but with specs like this, having such power seems unfair.”

“But perhaps the knight girl has some way to defeat the great hero? She’s already fought three times in one night against him and doesn’t seem to be losing ground.”

“Maybe she has some hidden ability or secret technique she’s been holding back?”

Of course, everyone acknowledges the great hero is incredibly powerful. But the protagonist is still the protagonist.

Though at this point, Yuri is clearly too inexperienced to be of much help.

But the girl Yuri summoned – the powerful hero who easily defeated both Federal Hero Krysto and the Mysterious Archer…

Could she possibly find a way to turn the situation around?

Isn’t animation supposed to be about protagonists achieving the impossible?

That’s why people are eagerly anticipating how Yuri and the girl will overcome this challenge.

However…

“In Episode 5, the one who defeats the great hero isn’t the protagonist Yuri and the girl… It’s the Mysterious Archer under Sein’s command, not the Knight King.”

“…Huh?”

Ragnar made a bombshell statement that seemed to crush everyone’s expectations.

“But shouldn’t the natural progression be for the protagonist and Knight King to take center stage?”

Kaya questioned Ragnar, clearly thinking this didn’t make any sense.

But at this point, Ragnar felt it necessary to include a scene where the Mysterious Archer defeats the great hero.

Because…

‘This way, I won’t get accused of inserting my own original character later…!’

Indeed.

His plan to make Federal Hero Krysto the villain and draw criticism from Federal supporters had already failed.

But there was no need to despair yet.

Because “Fate’s Sky” still had plenty of controversial elements left.

One of them being the true identity of the Mysterious Archer.

The archer, who had already proven his skill by fighting Federal Hero Krysto on equal terms, was undoubtedly considered by viewers to be a renowned historical hero.

But what if the shocking truth came out that he was actually an original character created solely in Ragnar’s imagination?

‘No matter how you look at it, they’ll all be hit directly by this.’

Not just the Federal citizens enthusiastically cheering for Krysto.

Soon the Richard Kingdom people will discover the girl’s true identity and be shocked.

And the entire Empire populace who revere the Knight King as their ancestor…

At minimum, people from three countries would react strongly upon learning this shocking truth.

I guarantee the chaos caused when Earth exploded in Episode 25 of “Knight Shin Chronicle” will seem like child’s play in comparison.

Could the Imperial Household really allow someone causing such massive social upheaval to continue making anime?

‘No way, that’s impossible.’

Perfect.

This plan was flawless, leaving no room for failure.

Still, Ragnar decided to include scenes of the Mysterious Archer’s heroics as extra insurance.

By continuously showing the archer in action, it would build curiosity about his identity…

Which would make the eventual revelation of his true nature all the more impactful.

Of course, explaining all this to the production staff, including Kaya, was out of the question.

Therefore…

“I’m sorry, but that’s a secret related to future developments that I can’t disclose.”

Ragnar said firmly.

“Besides, didn’t we already agree that my decisions would take priority in this production? It’s all for our future, so please cooperate.”

More accurately, it was for his bright future as a NEET.

“…”

Kaya and the staff were left speechless, unable to argue against something they had previously agreed to with Ragnar.

After glancing at their resigned faces, Ragnar called out Reiz, who was practicing lines for Episode 5.

“Since there are no objections to Episode 5’s development, let’s start recording. Reiz, prepare for line 38.”

“Yes! Ah, understood…”

Reiz, voicing both Yuri and the Mysterious Archer, whispered quietly to Ragnar.

“Director, will the thing you mentioned last time appear in this episode? You know, the bow scene…”

“…Ah, yes.”

Now that he thought about it, this was the episode featuring the long-awaited ‘that chant.’

When discussing ‘that work,’ mentioning ‘that chant’ is unavoidable, isn’t it?

Though only a small part of the chant will appear in the story.

Even so, just showing a portion will be enough to drive viewers wild.

“The body is black…”

Ragnar watched fondly as Reiz practiced the chant he had memorized in middle school.

Was that really the correct chant content…?

It’s been so long since he watched ‘that work,’ he couldn’t quite remember.

Meh, the general meaning is there, so it should be fine.

Anyway, “Fate’s Sky” Episode 5.

Lord’s Prayer bullet loading.

ON.

I lived as an unremarkable animation producer in Korea until I died. So, I made a wish just before dying. “Please make Japanese and American anime ordinary.” “Understood.” The wish was granted. By reincarnating into another world where Japanese and American anime not only became ordinary but completely disappeared. No, seriously, this is going too far. Really.
