Chapter 68: The Nisos Family Banquet
Hopeland, Nisos Family.
The Nisos Guild is one of the five major guilds in Hopeland. The eldest son of the family, Finleton, is relatively older among the younger generation in Hopeland, now at the age of 31. However, he married later in life, and his two children are only 1 to 3 years old.
Today’s banquet is hosted by him, inviting the upper echelons of Hopeland to celebrate his youngest daughter’s safe first birthday. In reality, this is just a pretext; he would likely carry his daughter around during the event and then everyone would continue eating, dancing, or engaging in other entertainment activities.
The Nisos family is the most enthusiastic about hosting banquets among the prominent families in Hopeland. Their social circle is extensive. If you want to quickly meet the influential people in Hopeland, attending their banquets is the best choice.
Of course, the Nisos family’s preference for hosting banquets is not just a hobby; they primarily deal with the brewing industry. Forty percent of the alcoholic beverages in Vergha are produced by their family, and various types of alcohol are exported to many countries. They are particularly famous in the southern and western regions of the continent. The purpose of each banquet is to promote their new types of alcohol, which can also be seen as advertising. Once these top-tier figures in Hopeland recognize and like the new type of alcohol, it will gradually become popular from top to bottom.
Lolan Hill sat upright in the carriage, looking out the window at the bustling carriages on the road, the street lamps by the roadside, and the lanterns hanging on the carriages. The interplay of lights turned the streets into a dim yellow reminiscent of bygone days. She often heard the jingling of carriage bells and people’s conversations. On the way to the Nisos family’s residence, the road was packed with various carriages and guards.
“Is the Nisos family so popular?” The young lady asked curiously.
“It’s hard to judge, but they indeed have a wide social circle. Every banquet they host invites many guests and provides their new types of alcohol for free. After all, this is their main business,” Chelsea replied beside her.
“Do we have any connection with them?”
“Four or five years ago, they came up with a new type of Cointreau wine, which was very popular when launched. They then specifically purchased a batch of oranges from us, which is the main ingredient for Cointreau wine.”
Chelsea continued after recalling slightly.
“Because the climate requirements for growing oranges, sweetness, moisture, etc., are quite demanding, the head of the Nisos family consulted with Lord Angus several times back then.”
“The Cointreau wine is crystal clear orange, as transparent and lustrous as amber, with a rich, smooth taste, and the natural fragrance of sweet oranges. It has been well-loved by people in Snowflower Seven Kingdoms over the years. Rumor has it that some of it was even transported to the distant Eastern Continent, the House of Plantagenet.”
“Is that so? Then how did the cooperation go later?”
“At first, it was fine, but they didn’t want to rely on us for supplies continuously. Later, they built their own orange orchard, and this year, their procurement is less than previous years.”
While Lolan Hill and Chelsea were discussing the Nisos family, they finally arrived at their destination.
The entrance of the Nisos family was very spacious. The tall black iron gate had beautiful lines, not all vertical, but forming a pattern in the middle—a tilted bottle with liquid flowing out, depicting grapes, showing that the Nisos family originally started with winemaking.
The lively courtyard and hall were filled with servers guiding visitors to park their carriages in designated spots and welcoming the distinguished guests.
“Mrs. Misha from the Prulho family has arrived!”
“Master Hrang from the White Cross Sword has arrived!”
As Lolan Hill’s carriage entered through the gate, the welcoming voices echoed again.
“Miss Lacy from the Callites Guild has arrived!”
Upon hearing the server’s announcement, a butler hurried over to guide her carriage to a spacious and bright spot.
The guests present turned to watch the carriage emblazoned with the Night Flower pattern. The carriage was entirely black with purple lines and decorations, exuding a low-key yet luxurious aura.
Lady-in-waiting Chelsea stepped down first, opened the door, and Lolan Hill emerged gracefully, holding her dress. She didn’t need help.
Her long dress was as vivid as flame, with blooming red Night Flowers on it. The upper part was more fitted, outlining her slender figure. The neckline revealed a small V-shaped collar, and the cuffs were slightly wide, like blooming petals. She wore white lace gloves on her hands.
Her golden hair shimmered under the light, with bangs giving her a dreamy and exquisite face. The strands of hair at the ends were slightly wavy, adding a touch of earthly charm.
From the moment she appeared, Lolan Hill captured everyone’s attention, like a powerful magnet. Her clear blue eyes, blinking like water, made hearts skip a beat. She seemed to descend from a mythological scroll.
The entire entrance fell into a brief silence, making both those outside and inside the mansion curious about what had happened.
Inside the quiet entrance, the Nisos family’s butler led Lolan Hill, while several servers quickly entered the hall to inform the family’s head and make other preparations.
Finleton, the eldest son of the Nisos family, personally greeted her at the entrance, partly to show respect and partly out of curiosity about this new owner of the Callites Guild, Miss Lacy, who had never publicly appeared in Hopeland. Rumors said she was an unparalleled beauty, but rumors are often unreliable. He wanted to see for himself.
When the fiery red dress entered the hall, Finleton swore that if he hadn’t been married already, he would have become her most devoted suitor. Her breathtaking appearance, serene and clear eyes, and perfect figure were treasures beyond compare, unforgettable for a lifetime.
Unfortunately, he already had children and was getting older. Though his heart wished otherwise, he could only sigh inwardly and quickly greet her.
“Welcome, Miss Lacy. I am Finleton of the Nisos family.”
This eldest son of the Nisos family wore a white suit, slightly plump, with a small family emblem pinned on his white suit—a tilted wine bottle.
According to etiquette, Lolan Hill, also known as Lacy, should extend her hand for a kiss, but she did not wish to do so. Instead, she placed her hand on her waist. Not extending her hand was not considered too rude because it was a privilege of unmarried girls, especially in conservative areas.
“Mr. Finleton, I am Lacy. I just arrived in Vergha and haven’t quite adapted yet. I apologize for accepting your invitation to the banquet so late.”
“No matter. As long as Miss Lacy is here, I am very happy,” Finleton said genuinely. Who wouldn’t love seeing a beautiful young lady?
At this moment, another round of welcome sounds came from outside the hall.
“Miss Wind of the Anemyi Guild has arrived!”
