Chapter 65: The Unusual Human Soldiers
Once the Human Vanguard secured the landing point completely, Victor ordered the main force to start disembarking.
As the large group landed, those earlier vanguards began setting up temporary camps on the island to guard against the Elven counterattack at the landing site.
Meanwhile, the cautious Elves had all entered the Silnas Fortress by now.
After returning to the castle, Airael immediately called her newly formed council to thoroughly discuss the recent coastal battle.
The Human fighting style had been so wild that it left Airael feeling a bit frightened.
Facing the reckless, one had to deal with the desperately reckless.
To Airael, those Human soldiers seemed utterly fearless.
Although the four Elves were puzzled by Airael’s sudden meeting call, they each hurried to attend.
Once all four had arrived, Airael spoke up, “Currently, the Human army is landing, and it won’t be long before they head toward the castle. Although we previously agreed on a battle strategy, after observing today, I believe we should re-evaluate it thoroughly.”
“May I ask where you feel our strategy might be flawed, Your Majesty?” Rove inquired.
“It’s the Human soldiers. Watching them assault the island today truly impressed me. They were incredibly brave, and our previously secure defensive line was pierced by them, revealing several vulnerabilities.”
Airael’s words plunged the four Elves into a brief silence.
While some of them hadn’t witnessed today’s battle firsthand, they had heard the rumors.
Today’s Human soldiers truly were madly reckless.
At this moment, Airael continued, “That’s why I decided to hold this meeting, to reassess our battle strategy and determine if it still suits our current situation.”
Not long after Airael’s statement, Nasin spoke up, “Your Majesty, I found the Human soldiers today quite abnormal. Previously, both Mohas and I had contact with Human soldiers, and while their combat abilities nearly equaled ours, they were never this wild.”
He hadn’t figured it out before, but once Airael mentioned specifics, his mind began to connect the dots.
As Nasin pointed this out, Mohas also recognized the unusual behavior of the Human soldiers today and added, “Your Majesty, as Nasin indicated, I too find the Human soldiers’ behavior today quite peculiar. Logically, having defeated us, they shouldn’t be this frantic; it’s as if they feel cornered, while we Elves stand on solid ground.”
The two Elves spoke in succession, causing Airael to furrow her brows gently.
Rove and Robel also shared a similar expression.
Like Airael, they hadn’t seen how the Human soldiers behaved previously.
Especially Robel.
As the steward handling mostly internal affairs, he knew little about military matters.
Now it seemed there must be a compelling reason behind the Humans’ reckless frenzy.
Airael pondered for a moment, then focused her gaze on the four Elves below, saying, “If that’s the case, there must be some circumstances among the Human army we’re unaware of that are driving them into such madness.”
“Indeed!”
Nasin, as the one who had first proposed this perspective, affirmed.
The other three nodded in agreement.
Seeing all four Elves concur with her assessment, Airael sighed, “It would be great if we could know exactly what happened within the Human forces.”
The four Elves remained silent.
It was merely wishful thinking.
While they could gauge the general movements of the Human army, obtaining specific intel was a different story—it was nearly impossible.
So, the best approach was to abandon such unrealistic fantasies.
Rather than wasting time on things without concrete results, it was wiser to do practical tasks.
Airael understood this principle well.
She only lamented a little.
However, if there were truly an intelligence agency capable of discovering such information, Airael would be more than pleased.
Information plays an irreplaceable role in warfare.
And not just in battle; it has numerous applications in other areas as well.
Unfortunately, Airael didn’t have that luxury right now.
With a sigh in her heart, Airael pulled herself from her daydreams, looking at the four silent individuals and saying, “Though we don’t know what is happening within the Human army, it doesn’t hinder us from revising our original battle strategy.”
“What does Your Majesty intend to modify in our battle plan?” Rove asked.
He could tell Airael had a rough draft in mind.
Airael replied directly, “Given how insane the Human soldiers are right now, our priority should be to avoid confrontation with their main forces. We should utilize the fortified and well-defended Silnas Fortress to battle against them. Once their current fervor dies down, we’ll engage them again.”
Her words made the four Elves exchange glances.
Even Robel, the civilian, could tell Airael’s approach was quite feasible.
The other three generals were astonished that Airael could articulate such insightful military theory.
How old could their Queen be?
And she already possessed such advanced military insight—she would surely become a master tactician in the future.
Unbeknownst to Airael, her remarks had significantly elevated the four Elves’ perception of her.
To her, she merely understood some superficial concepts.
However, she overlooked one aspect.
What seemed like trivial knowledge in a bustling information society was nothing short of remarkable in a more isolated one.
Seeing the four Elves did not oppose her idea, Airael continued to share her thoughts: “As for the Treemen, let them remain concealed in the great forest. We must instruct them not to reveal themselves until new orders arrive; they might become key to winning our next battle.”
By this point, Airael’s heart was already shaping a new battle strategy.
However, it allneeded further refinement.
A mere draft would not secure their victory; she required a more comprehensive plan.
