Chapter 65

Before the necromancer unleashed their power, Ji-a and Yu Byeong-jun were fiercely battling it out.

Meanwhile, other hunters were engaged in intense combat with countless undead hordes.

“Haha! Come at me, all of you!”

Kang Cheol-min charged into the crowd of monsters, swinging his massive hammer.

He shouted loudly.

“Everyone! Follow me!”

The hunters from Cheongrim Guild rushed after him en masse.

Their performance was absolutely dazzling—at first, anyway.

“…This is bad.”

Ye Do-hyeong frowned as he assessed the situation.

S-rank Hunter Yu Byeong-jun’s undead were being handled well by Kim Ji-a. Honestly, he thought she’d be overpowered, but she wasn’t backing down—she was even pressuring Byeong-jun. It was an incredible display.

However, the problem was Kang Cheol-min, who had declared himself leader but then suddenly charged ahead, isolating the group following him.

This move proved to be extremely disadvantageous since they were inside an undead dungeon where enemies kept respawning endlessly while their numbers dwindled with no reinforcements.

“If we leave this unchecked…”

Even Kang Cheol-min and the members of Cheongrim Guild could become fodder for the boss.

Undead can be killed again and again, but hunters? Their numbers just keep decreasing.

Ye Do-hyeong glanced at supporter Choi Ga-eul standing in the back.

With the hunters too far away, her skills weren’t reaching them, and she looked visibly panicked.

“…Let’s push through this as much as possible!”

Ye Do-hyeong began casting a spell. Soon, powerful lightning struck multiple times, wiping out a large group of undead.

“Nice!”

“Wow, Do-hyeong Oppa, you’re amazing!”

Cheers erupted from various hunters.

“We can’t afford any casualties! Let’s push forward!”

“Yes sir!”

With Do-hyeong’s spirited cry, the hunters prepared their attack spells. A rainbow of magic flew through the air, tearing apart the undead.

Encouraged by this momentum, melee hunters also surged forward. At this point, everyone was confident in victory, sure that the dungeon would fall.

But…

BOOM!

A piercing scream echoed through the room.

The moment the boss unleashed their true power, the tide began to shift.

Dark mana infused the undead, boosting their morale dramatically. Skeleton resurrection speeds skyrocketed. From the opposite side, the Lich—a boss-level monster—reawakened.

On the other hand, the hunters felt their stamina draining with every breath.

“Hahaha! Die, all of you!”

The woman seated on the throne let out a sharp laugh. Though its meaning was unclear, the hunters felt deeply unnerved.

Unable to bear it any longer, some rear-line hunters shouted.

“Ga-eul-ssi! Can you do something about this?”

“You’re A-rank! Do something!”

There was no malice in their cries; they were simply overwhelmed by the oppressive aura and sought help from Korea’s top supporter.

Ga-eul tried desperately to use her skills, helping the hunters however she could. But it was useless. The gap in power was just too great.

Eventually, Ga-eul broke down and wailed.

“I’m trying! I’m trying my best here!”

The hunters who had shouted winced and trembled at her reaction.

A female magic-type hunter participating as backup watched the scene unfold in terror. The heavy atmosphere pressed against her throat like a vice.

To be honest, the situation was serious, but it wasn’t dire enough to say they were completely overpowered—not yet, thanks to Ye Do-hyeong’s exceptional performance.

Still, the oppressive mana clawing at their bodies amplified their fear, planting seeds of doubt and negativity in their minds.

Are we all going to die here?

Is this how we meet our end?

These ominous thoughts filled her mind, making her body shake uncontrollably.

Right at that moment…

Someone placed a hand on her shoulder, gently squeezing before stepping forward.

She turned her head to see who it was.

It was the nun who had been standing quietly until now.

“Sis… Sister! It’s dangerous!”

Without realizing it, she blurted out a warning.

The nun paused briefly, glanced at her, tilted her head slightly, then…

THUMB UP.

Her delicate hand peeked out from under her habit, giving a thumbs-up before continuing forward without a word.

The magic-type hunter stared blankly at the nun’s retreating figure.

Si-hyun looked straight ahead.

Truthfully, she didn’t want to step up. Even when provoked by the necromancer, she held back. She wanted to enjoy her peaceful healing life for as long as possible.

But…

“…I guess I can’t hold back anymore.”

Seeing people trembling in fear made her realize she needed to act. Everyone else was putting in so much effort—how could she stay idle? Was this really the right thing to do?

Ultimately, Si-hyun decided to step forward. She’d fulfill her promise to Director Jang: bring everyone back alive except those already dead.

At the same time, she resolved to exact revenge on the arrogant necromancer for past grievances.

“I haven’t forgotten what you did to me.”

In this world, she endured everything because the continent was on the brink of destruction due to the overwhelming power of the Demon King. Surviving until the Demon King’s defeat was the only way to find a way back to Earth.

So she endured every injustice.

“Not that I deliberately avoided thinking about it.”

But things were different here.

Clearing the dungeon meant returning to a cozy home—not some distant realm where patience was the only option. This was Earth’s dungeon.

If she didn’t want to endure, she didn’t have to. She could live however she pleased.

No one could oppress or bind her anymore.

Not anyone.

“I’ll return everything I suffered—and more.”

Ji-a joined the fray where hunters were locked in chaotic battle. Si-hyun watched her join before taking a firm step forward.

BOOM!

An explosive wave of divine energy and mana radiated outward from where Si-hyun stood, clashing with the necromancer’s dark mana filling the boss chamber.

Who possessed the stronger aura?

Who was truly the strongest here?

Their powers collided fiercely, testing each other’s strength.

CRACKLE, CRACKLE!

Opposing forces clashed violently, producing deafening sounds.

And it didn’t take long for the victor to emerge.

Holy Maiden Si-hyun triumphed.

“Grrr…”

The necromancer gnashed their lower lip in frustration, unable to comprehend what was happening.

Is this person even human?

From divine energy alone, there was already a noticeable power gap. They were being pushed back relentlessly.

But it didn’t stop there.

Si-hyun dominated the space, drawing in surrounding mana and making it hers. The necromancer’s mana was being devoured.

A chilling sensation, like flesh being peeled off, coursed through the necromancer’s body as they trembled in fear.

And now…

The prelude to judgment began.

“OOOHHH!”

“The strength! I feel empowered!”

“I could do anything right now!”

As the defeated necromancer’s influence receded, Si-hyun’s holy energy enveloped the hunters, strengthening everyone.

The magical girl watched in awe, her eyes wide open. It was as if a ray of light, a goddess herself, had descended upon the world.

BOOM!

Si-hyun took another step forward. Her presence grew even stronger, more explosive, overpowering everything around her.

“Ughh…”

Weaker undead crumbled one by one, their connection to their master severed, reverting back to inert matter. The endless skeleton revival ceased.

Choi Ga-eul, Korea’s strongest supporter, gaped in disbelief at the sight of Si-hyun. What she was witnessing seemed impossible.

BOOM!

Si-hyun continued moving forward.

Close-range hunters, battered and bruised, couldn’t help but stare at Si-hyun. Their wounds disappeared as if by magic, their exhausted bodies rejuvenated with vitality.

They had never seen such potent magic in their lives—it was akin to experiencing a miracle firsthand.

Leader Ye Do-hyeong of Blue Guild felt the same way.

His rapidly depleting mana started replenishing at an astonishing rate. With this speed, he could unleash spells freely without worrying. Ga-eul lacked such abilities.

BOOM!

Si-hyun kept advancing.

Every ounce of her power poured out, overwhelming all adversaries. High-tier undead monsters couldn’t resist either, their enhanced bodies deteriorating rapidly.

Conversely, high-ranked hunters fighting these creatures grew several times stronger.

The master of Knight Guild, who had been carefully managing his stamina, perked up sharply. His blade cut through dozens of undead effortlessly.

“HAHAHA! Bring it on! All of you!”

Kang Cheol-min, whose expensive gear was dented, went wild with excitement. He believed he had transcended his limits in this extreme situation. Regardless, he had grown stronger.

“Hmm…”

Si-hyun stopped momentarily, staring at the necromancer seated on the throne.

Her lips curled upward beneath her veil.

“Pathetic loser.”

She mocked the necromancer using a term she’d picked up online—one that felt oddly fitting and likely to become a regular part of her vocabulary.

Step by step…

Si-hyun resumed her march.

The situation had completely reversed.

Though the necromancer ruled the boss chamber, Si-hyun had become the true dominator. This was now her domain.

“Grrr…”

The necromancer bit their lips until they bled, utterly baffled by the turn of events.

When she left the party midway, hadn’t the holy maiden been nothing special? Barely deserving of the title?

What happened afterward to transform her into this monstrous being?

“…”

Regardless of the necromancer’s confusion, Si-hyun marched toward the throne with unwavering determination.

“KKIIIEE!”

“KIIIIEEEK!”

Some undead lunged forward, attempting to obstruct Si-hyun’s path.

SWISH!

But nothing could stop her. With smooth precision, she sliced through the monsters.

This was her territory now.

“Praying girl, don’t get cocky!”

The necromancer thrust their staff forward, unleashing rapid-fire dark magic through the ornate wand.

But…

BOOM!

Simultaneously prepared spells clashed and canceled each other out.

“Don’t come closer! Stay back, I said!”

The necromancer screamed, frantically casting spells.

They used dark blades, shadow traps—every trick in their arsenal—to halt Si-hyun’s advance.

Yet Si-hyun’s steps never faltered.

In an instant, she reached the necromancer’s side.

Farther back, the sounds of hunters battling undead persisted.

Between the throne and the necromancer, it was just the two of them now.

Si-hyun spoke softly, almost whispering.

“…You should’ve behaved better. Why crawl this far?”

“Dieeee!”

Infuriated by her mocking words, the necromancer swung their staff wildly.

Si-hyun didn’t even bother with her sword. A poorly trained mage’s weapon wouldn’t harm her.

She easily caught the staff with her left hand.

With sheer force, she wrenched it away and hurled it behind her.

The staff rolled across the floor, leaving the necromancer weaponless.

“…Anything else you’d like to say?”

“You insolent wench!”

Upon hearing the question, the necromancer spat out foul curses.

Si-hyun hadn’t expected communication to work anyway. There was no need to waste time. Hunters were still fighting intensely elsewhere.

She raised her sword to chest level.

Then…

SWISH!

The blade pierced through the necromancer’s heart.

“Cough…”

The necromancer grabbed the blade, spitting blood from their mouth. They writhed desperately, their eyes slowly losing life.

Finally, they gasped out a last spiteful remark before dying.

Face expressionless, Si-hyun pulled the sword out of the corpse.

With a kick, she sent the lifeless body flying.

Looking at the rolling corpse emotionlessly, she thought: No respect deserved for someone like her.

“…I’ve returned what I suffered.”

Si-hyun glanced around.

The masterless undead began disintegrating into dust.

Behind the throne, a return portal formed.

Without hesitation, Si-hyun stepped through first, meeting up with Director Jang Han-soo nearby.

One by one, hunters emerged from the gate.

Many searched for the hero who saved them, looking around eagerly—but no one could find the vanished nun.
