Chapter 623: The Moon Behind the Scenes
In the center of the Solar Crown,
A young lady’s eyes slightly closed as she floated in mid-air. She had light golden hair that flowed behind her like water. This golden-haired girl was Lolan Hill, and with the Solar Crown upon her, her form underwent many changes.
Her originally silver hair turned golden, and her pale blue eyes transformed into amber-like glassy gold. A pair of feather-wrapped sun patterns appeared on her forehead, and behind her were three pairs of enormous transparent golden wings.
Finally, her entire figure was enveloped by a gigantic wheel, which constantly rotated behind her, revealing intricate patterns and symbols.
After a long while, when countless people gazed at the ‘sun’ at the top of the sky, it finally began to change.
Like ripples spreading gently in water, the world suddenly became quiet, all sounds temporarily silenced. All intelligent beings in the heavens and earth simultaneously heard a voice, low, authoritative, and unstoppable.
The sky suddenly darkened, and all light began to fade away. Only the crown of the sun remained brightly lit, burning with an eternal flame of life.
Then, seven enormous trumpet shadows slowly emerged from the void. These trumpets seemed to symbolize different powers; their appearance caused everyone to feel immense pressure and unease.
The people on Earth looked up at the magnificent divine sign in the sky. Some started to kneel in fear, some began to pray devoutly, and others seemed to want to avoid the omnipresent light and heat.
But no matter how the billions or even trillions of living beings on Earth cursed and prayed, the seven giant trumpets remained unmoved, gradually becoming real.
Soon, these seven trumpets sounded together. The deep voice rose from everyone’s hearts, resonating and shaking them.
All unrest and fear vanished at this moment. Fragile hearts were like transparent castles of glass, strong and clear, isolating twisted and corrupt sounds.
Then, the second sound of the trumpet rang out.
Distant stars shone brightly, turbulent currents highly agitated. The stellar wind carrying protons and electrons spread from the middle of the star system, blowing towards the surrounding planets.
The entire planet was enveloped by the rapid solar wind, with numerous particles guided by magnetic fields, tracing through the atmosphere and leaving curtains of auroras.
This wind shimmered with a faint golden glow, weaving through every corner and crevice of the world under the guidance of some entity, chasing every unclean thing.
Thus, distorted illusions in various parts of the world gradually vanished under the stellar wind enhanced by the Solar Crown, turning into dust.
Next, the third sound of the trumpet rang out.
Many vortices slowly merged in the burning flames, growing smaller until they completely disappeared. At this moment, the only shadow revealed on Earth was the swirling abyss in Mozwah, filled with countless distorted objects. Dark turbid illusions continuously clashed with the flames, preventing the exit from closing.
Then, the fourth sound of the trumpet rang out.
A fierce beam of sunlight shot from the eternally blazing star, piercing through the vast and desolate universe to reach this tiny planet, directly hitting the surging black abyss.
Like fire burning oil, hundreds of thousands, even millions of distorted illusions writhed in agony within the fiery beam, turning into ashes and dust. Scorching heat covered the land, melting part of the planet into transparent and beautiful glass.
And amidst the glass and flames, a tiny crimson ember was carried by the intense sun and flew out, returning to the sun in the sky.
Finally, crystal-like glassy land formed in Mozwah, and the once bustling city disappeared without a trace.
Just as the fifth sound of the trumpet was about to ring out, a long and ancient dragon roar echoed in the peaceful world. It came from the edge of the star system, carrying a completely different mission.
How enormous this dragon was, its wings spanning thousands of kilometers. Its dark body glowed with flowing dark red light, resembling electronic signals, and atop its head were seven layers of spikes and a crown.
As it arrived, deep red lava spewed from its mouth, crossing the galaxy and directly colliding with the Solar Crown, causing intense energy sparks. Even the edges of the crown were slightly damaged.
“Original Sequence 10·Destruction Dragon Bahamut.”
Lolan Hill felt the name of this legendary dragon with seven layers of spikes and a crown. As one of the two remaining Sequence 10 dragons after the disasters of the Dusk Era, it was a powerful force serving the Moon Crown.
Among the few remaining Sequence 10s, this dragon’s strength was extremely rare.
However, what worried Lolan Hill more than this dragon was its arrival, symbolizing another matter.
Indeed, just outside the planet, as many angels and dragons approached to prepare for battle, a silver radiant crown began to outline itself outside the planet.
Elaborate and precise patterns, divided into six sides, each side representing a different phase of the moon—some like bowstrings, some like crescent boats, and some like full wheels.
When this beautiful silver crown formed, ripples appeared in space, light slightly distorted, and the star system controlled by the Solar Crown gradually lost its full suppressive power. Extraordinary beings on Earth regained some of their strength.
Lolan Hill watched the silver crown. When the figure inside gradually became clear, she finally understood and comprehended the mastermind behind the series of events.
The witch with the purple moon memory, Selene, still looked exactly the same as before, but now there was a hint of indifference and coldness in her eyes, lacking the compassion and tenderness she once had. Perhaps this was the price of enduring long periods of time.
“I never expected you to be so surprising, Lolan Hill.” Her eyelashes trembled slightly, and her light purple eyes looked at this newly born junior, whose transformation seemed like a miracle, directly disrupting her arrangements of nearly a thousand years.
“I’m also very surprised, Senior Selene. You should have known about the Moon Crown long ago, why did you always stay behind the scenes, watching everything unfold?” Lolan Hill slightly raised her hand, and numerous angels held golden glass swords, ready to fight against the fierce and destructive Destruction Dragon.
As the holder of the Moon Crown, Selene could not possibly be unaware of the schemes of the Roulna faction, nor could she be unaware of those buried truths. Why had she never shown herself?
“I naturally have my reasons.” Selene slightly closed her eyes and then opened them.
“As the successor of the Moon Crown, I do not agree with the Sun’s ideas.”
“Even if this is the solution to all problems?” Lolan Hill looked at Selene.
“Yes.”
“But waiting will not lead to any results. After the last great war, tens of thousands of years have passed. During this long time, the Moon has still failed to come up with a feasible plan.” Lolan Hill spoke about the aftermath of the battle between the Sun and Moon, and after the deaths of both parties’ crown holders, they finally reached a ceasefire and began implementing the Moon’s conjecture.
Unfortunately, after thousands or even tens of thousands of years, Earth remained unchanged.
“That was only because the previous holders of the Moon Crown lacked ruthlessness.” Selene said, and as she finished speaking, silver vines emerged from the void around the Solar Crown, intertwining and attaching themselves, eroding towards the crown.
Transparent flames rose from the crown, burning the strange vines, and then the halo expanded, directly smashing the silver vines, causing them to disappear.
“What a pity, once a powerful Solar Crown, now so weak. Even so, will you still execute that plan? Shouldn’t you know what it means? If the crown explodes, your body and spirit will disperse in the world, never to exist again.” Finally, a hint of emotion appeared on Selene’s face, as if she didn’t understand this young girl’s actions.
“Perhaps.” Lolan Hill shook her head slightly. She didn’t know what would happen to her in the end, whether she would vanish forever or awaken again after sleeping for countless ages.
“Since that’s the case, then I can only bring you down! You, this weak and newborn Sun.” Selene’s pupils flashed, and then her hands spread wide, with different moons floating beside her, gradually growing larger and rising.
Space seemed to ripple, stirred by the rotating moons, distorting and breaking everything in sight, becoming bizarre and surreal.
Looking at the six moons, Lolan Hill’s eyes narrowed, and her expression gradually became serious.
“Were Dorothy and the others killed by your schemes?” The six moons were naturally composed of six types of powers related to time and space, which were also the powers under the Moon Crown.
This made sense. Why did Oz Country gradually become abnormal, starting to escape Dorothy’s control? Why did the backlit ones know so many truths? Why was the Roulna faction so confident in their choices? And why did the powers of the two black and white witches disappear after their deaths?
Unlike Lolan Hill, who was originally an angel, Selene couldn’t bear the pure Moon Crown alone. However, as a compromise, she relied on the powers of six other witches related to time and space, sharing the burden and thus able to manipulate the Moon Crown.
Perhaps she had known the ancient truths from many relics and dust early on, leading her to follow the path of the crown, traveling to various extraterrestrial ruins, thus weakening her ties to the Ivar World and being gradually forgotten.
Now, the greatest obstacle for humans on the planet to gain knowledge of the Dusk Era was not language, but how to interpret those ancient storage devices. Without systems and computers to assist, how could they translate the knowledge and truth within?
Even someone as talented as Dorothy could only explore some rough ideas through her own research and reverse engineering, unable to see the whole picture, leading her to take a wrong direction.
But Selene was different. As a witch who controlled memory concepts, even without system assistance, she could decipher the information and memory fragments stored in the ancient devices.
It was under such information disparity that her many plans came to fruition.
“What future do you really wish to achieve, Selene?”
Although they had already begun fighting, with angels and dragons tearing each other apart in space, Lolan Hill still wanted to know what wishes and ideals Selene harbored.
“That, of course, is a future where humans, or any intelligent life, can adapt to the chaotic and distorted Echaka Sea, surviving even if cosmic tides rise again.”
“Why must we enter the Echaka Sea? Although growth is slow in reality, it would be more stable,” Lolan Hill asked her inner question.
“Haha, naive and kind junior.” Selene shook her head.
“All living beings tend to seek benefits and avoid harm. If the benefits of entering the Echaka Sea are hundreds of times greater than in reality, then no matter how much you try to prohibit it, someone will still attempt it, take risks. Even if humans don’t, perhaps other alien races might.”
“Because it’s there, if you don’t go, someone else will, and eventually, you’ll have to follow, as falling behind means being eliminated and dying.”
“You call this the greed or desire of life, but this is indeed the vitality of life. It extends in beneficial directions.”
“And the result will be the recurrence of the previous calamity.”
“Therefore, I hope for the emergence of new races or forms of life.”
“Even if such experiments cause the death of billions of lives?”
“So what? Individual lives will eventually pass away. I’m merely making them reach their end sooner.”
As a witch who had lived for thousands of years, Selene’s view on life was already indifferent. It was nothing more than fleeting numbers.
“But, can those born from such distortion still be called humans, or the continuation of our civilization?”
“Or maybe, they’ll just become new monsters.” Lolan Hill lowered her eyelids, and the sun’s crown rose, emitting scorching flames, gradually pushing everything around.
“I’m sorry, I still can’t forgive such a senior Selene.”
A star rose from the crown.
P.S.: I wrote and deleted, deleted and wrote again, always feeling it doesn’t reach my ideal perfection, but time is running out. I won’t dwell on it. Later, I’ll write a few chapters of extra content to supplement unfinished matters, such as the original four, and the entanglements of the previous Sun and Moon.
(The chapter ends here.)
