Chapter 62: The New Magical Energy Cannon
Looking at Airael enjoying herself so much, Linis shook her head.
This private matter was better left for these young ones to handle themselves!
“Your Majesty, do you have any other matters?”
“There is one more thing.”
Then Airael shared with Linis the changes she had undergone since returning to Avalon.
Seeing Airael’s puzzled expression, Linis smiled and asked, “Your Majesty, Avalon is the homeland of the elves and the place where the World Tree takes root.”
“I know!”
Airael nodded, fully aware of that.
Linis continued, “As the queen of the elves, you are the messenger of the World Tree in this world.”
Messenger of the World Tree!
Airael pondered this concept.
It’s quite easy to understand, similar to the way one would think of the emperor in the past life.
But what does this have to do with her returning to Avalon and enhancing her power?
Could it be that the World Tree boosted her strength?
If one considers the World Tree as a god, then this place would be the divine realm of the World Tree.
A terrifying thought suddenly crossed Airael’s mind.
She looked at Linis in astonishment.
“Just as you suspect, the moment you completed your trials and returned, you were already recognized by the will of the World Tree and became the ruler of Avalon.”
Ruler of Avalon!
Airael keenly noticed the difference in Linis’s wording.
Although the elven race occupied Avalon, the title of Elven Queen was not the same as that of Avalon King.
The Elven Queen merely referred to the elven race, whereas the Avalon King referred specifically to the land distanced from the continent.
Especially since this involved the World Tree.
Elven Queen, Lord of Avalon?
After some thought, Airael found that title didn’t sound unpleasant at all.
Even though she wasn’t sure what kind of responsibilities she would have to bear for it, it seemed she didn’t have the power to choose.
With many thoughts racing through her mind, Airael sighed and replied, “I understand now, Linis.”
Leaving Linis, Airael decided not to dwell on it further and headed towards the Magic Research Institute in the west of the city.
Boom—!
Just as she stepped out of the royal city, Airael heard a deafening roar, as if the very earth shook with the sound.
“What happened over there?”
Staring at the rising dust not far away, Airael was dumbfounded.
Celia spoke up, “It seems like that’s the location of the magic testing grounds.”
Upon hearing this, Airael felt even more excited about their upcoming visit to the magic testing grounds.
What had Teacher Domiya developed this time?
At the Magic Research Institute, Domiya looked at the large crater created with a diameter of several meters before her and nodded in satisfaction. She then turned to the magical energy cannon that she had painstakingly created.
Compared to the previous one, this magical energy cannon had a significantly increased caliber.
It had grown from 300 millimeters to 356 millimeters.
“We did it, Domiya-sama!”
Her silver-haired assistant, Chris, exclaimed excitedly beside her.
“Yes! We did it!”
A smile spread on Domiya’s face.
Although she had already successfully developed a 300-millimeter magical energy cannon, Domiya knew that this was just the beginning.
After gathering enough people and resources, she continued her subsequent research.
After many failed attempts, she finally succeeded in expanding the cannon’s caliber from 300 millimeters to 356 millimeters, significantly increasing its power as well.
Naturally, the requirements for the cannon also increased.
For instance, it needed better materials, more magic power for charging, and it became considerably heavier—all challenges that couldn’t be avoided at this time.
“When will we start on the next project?” Chris asked.
The 356-millimeter caliber was already their limit.
While there were ideas for even larger calibers, the materials they had were insufficient to support the creation of such powerful magical energy cannons.
In other words, until there were breakthroughs in magical materials science, they could only temporarily shift their focus to other projects.
“Let everyone take a break for a few days! Let me think about which direction we should head next.”
“Understood!”
With those words, she and the nearby experiment personnel walked towards the office a short distance away.
The successful experiment filled everyone with joy, especially with a holiday approaching, laughter and cheer resonated within the group.
Not to mention them, after covering some distance, Airael and her companions finally arrived outside the Magic Research Institute.
Looking at the heavily guarded magic testing grounds, Airael turned to Celia with a troubled expression. “It seems we didn’t ask Linis for a pass, and these guards don’t seem to recognize us.”
The guards looked at them with a cautious demeanor.
Airael had every reason to believe that if they did anything out of line, the guards would swarm them and take them down.
“Your Majesty, while we don’t have a pass, we can ask someone to call for Domiya-sama.”
“That seems to be our only option.”
With Airael’s agreement, Celia stepped forward and addressed the guards, “Hello, I know we can’t go in, but we are here to see Master Domiya. We are her acquaintances and hope you can help us pass the message to bring Master Domiya out.”
The guards scrutinized them and replied, “Please wait a moment.”
Before long, Domiya returned with the guards.
Seeing the three outside, Domiya’s face brightened.
“Your Majesty! I didn’t expect you to have returned from your trials already.”
Upon hearing Domiya address Airael, the guards suddenly changed their expressions.
“Thank you, Domiya-sensei. It’s also thanks to your earlier teachings.”
Airael replied modestly.
Hearing Airael’s praise, Domiya felt delighted: “Let’s not dwell on this. Your Majesty, do you have something in particular you wish to discuss today?”
“I heard from Linis that you seem to have created something incredible over the years, so I couldn’t wait to come and take a look.”
Domiya’s smile grew even wider.
That was her proud creation.
“Your Majesty, please follow me.”
As Airael followed Domiya into the Magic Research Institute, the guards naturally wouldn’t rudely stop them now.
One by one, they lowered their heads, looking like little girls caught doing something naughty.
“Your Majesty, please don’t hold it against them; they are just doing their duty.”
Noticing their demeanor, Domiya understood and said.
Airael smiled in response, “I understand them; they have done well.”
“Your Majesty is indeed wise and magnificent.”
Domiya praised.
Meanwhile, the guards shared the same sentiment as Domiya.
