Chapter 59

Extra Case File 59 Madness Lost

“What’s so funny——”

As expected! That guy wouldn’t be easily taken down by me, he would get up again, only to be struck down once more by myself, or alternatively, I’d pin him down, and then relentlessly punch that detestable metallic helmet, punch after punch, until—

“It’s over!”

What is this— too terrifying!

Seemingly influenced by something deep within it, the Final Monster, having barely regained its footing, trembled with fear in the face of the impending battle.

A monster devoid of self-wisdom was now experiencing a primal fear.

“Don’t scream there!” came the roaring voice of the Fierce Final Monster from behind. Still lost in her fury and inexplicable joy, Yell bellowed as she turned around, grip of the Melody Holy Sword reversed, throwing it like a spear towards the Fierce Final Monster.

I know, no serious words from Time Fire are shocking, but why am I this angry?

Is it because he was right? Did Mr. Ash’s matter strike my fragile heart too much?

The unextinguished, glaring light pierced through the Fierce Final Monster’s skull as if slicing tofu, explosive energy erupted from the massive wound, weakening the already weakened roar of the Fierce Final Monster.

After much contemplation, I understood.

8 years of loneliness, pain, and fear made me yearn desperately; and I had thought that beam of light was the end of torment, only to find that it was the beginning of an end.

Ha, is this what they mean? Without seeing the light, I would have endured the darkness?

“It’s over already!!”

The wretched, increasingly mingled with Saya’s female voice, the Final Monster was genuinely afraid at the moment, yet the red-eyed Yell couldn’t tell what sounds they were making.

Thump–!

A sound akin to a heartbeat reverberated from Hana’s body. The darkening in the crystal representing her soul had solidified even more than before!

Yet Hana remained oblivious.

“You’re the one who’s finished!!!!” yelling while charging forward, Yell smashed her clenched fist into the Fierce Final Monster’s face. The monster’s teeth and explosive energy flew out; yellow eyes wide, tears rolled freely.

But would Yell care about the Final Monster’s suffering?

Maybe once, but not anymore. She would hit it again and again, making the monster’s hateful mouth never open again, and the mocking “It’s over” forever silent.

Just now, did they say… someone was inside?

However, this notion vanished instantly as the expanding inner chaos of Wild Flower under the influence of rage pushed this thought aside.

There was someone inside the Final Monster? Ha, how could there be, after fighting Final Monsters for eight years, I should know if there was anyone inside or not.

Even if there was someone inside, what difference does it make? Now that my sword has lost its purification ability, does it still matter? Inside or outside, they’re all Final Monsters, dead or alive, it’s for world peace! Smash, smash, keep smashing!!!!!!!

Hit them hard enough until—

No sound, begging cries at first disappeared under the full-on onslaught by Yell. Under relentless abuse and torture, the Fierce Final Monster had no intact spot left, its explosive energy formed nurse uniform long shredded to rags. If not for the absurdity of explosive energy, the Fierce Final Monster would probably have closed their eyes in death.

Yell stopped hitting, not having vented her anger but realizing inflicting harm on this helpless ugly thing wasn’t satisfying anymore.

This Final Monster was useless to Yell, so she’d treat it like the others.

Shaking her wrists, Yell stepped heavily over the dying Fierce Final Monster. Each step exacerbated its wounds; the Final Monster’s trembling no longer caught Yell’s notice, her eyes focused solely on her sword.

Pulling the sword from the dying Final Monster’s head, Yell watched the creature coldly.

“Glad you die.”

Cruel words she wouldn’t have uttered before were spoken effortlessly.

“Hold on!”

Another voice—a woman’s.

Yell ignored it. To her, had it been Time Fire’s voice wanting a beating, she would throw the sword, replicating her actions on the Fierce Final Monster.

If it wasn’t Time Fire, she saw no reason to care.

“Yell—Miss Yell? Please, Miss Yell!”

Annoyed, annoyed, who are you to order here? Do you know what might happen if you don’t kill the Final Monster?

“Young Yell—”

“Annoying you are, woman, if you don’t come to fight, then get out!!”

Cannot tolerate it! Part of me actually understands Time Fire. These clueless, powerless creatures just nag; they contribute nothing and interfere when needed! See, the final monster nearly escapes.

I’m—PRECURE! It’s my duty to decide what happens to monsters.

Yell turned, wanting to see who kept meddling—she wanted them away quickly regardless, throw whoever doesn’t listen far away.

So, who was it?

“Miss Yell…”

It was Saya’s mother, Lira Yakushiji. No graceful composure as at the opening ceremony: her elegant gown ripped during disaster, leaving her in tatters.

Terrifying, very scary! This wasn’t the same person encountered occasionally, yet—

“Yell, please spare her!”

Daughter, what nonsense? Her daughter beneath this Final Monster?

She heard snippets, a seemingly familiar nameless woman stammering something about her daughter being under this Final Monster.

Oh, what a tragic story? Should I weep? I probably would cry yesterday. But now, maybe my tears are dried out.

Don’t understand, not keen on thinking, killing or being killed seems to be the situation.

So, even more reason to kill.

Yell raised her Melody Holy Sword once more. Radiant light gathered, a thrust would surely kill even the strongest Final Monster, her confidence unwavering.

Lira watched Yell raise the sword and the increasing glow, collapsing to her knees as her strength faded.

“No—please—”

Her daughter… Saya!!!

Crack!

Splat!

A screech of burning air sounded, a slight shudder as Hana spotted sparks and light piercing from her bubble sleeves.

In mid-attack, Yell couldn’t dodge. A tiny blood bloom appeared on Yell’s left shoulder.

The cracked flame visor reflected her turning figure; behind her, Ash’s gun barrels glowed with faint heat.
