Chapter 199 – The Land of the Great Dragon Part 6
He has set his sights on me…
From dozens of meters away, the man with bulging eyes commanded all the beast-controllers to close in on the figure. Glittering golden light burst forth, and countless golden chains erupted from the ground, shooting towards the hunched old man.
In the next moment, the old heretic moved. His footwork suddenly changed, one step and one kick, his figure flickering like a ghost several times, evading the flying chains with astonishing speed. He slipped through the gaps between the chains, his dual blades rising and slashing down swiftly. Two sharp sword whistles echoed, and intense sword energy flashed out like a startled wild goose. Several cultivators were unable to dodge in time, along with their riding hornhorses, which were torn apart by the sword energy, splattering blood everywhere!
Whoosh—
The old heretic continued moving, his figure darting like lightning, cutting through the spraying blood. He leaped up, flipping twice in mid-air, his dual swords like venomous snakes striking out. Two fiery lines slashed at the crowd of beast-controlling cultivators in a flash, causing limbs and blood to fly everywhere amidst the chaos.
The old man then landed, crouching to avoid the incoming holy spear. He steadied himself, pulling his short weapons to his waist. With one slash and one chop, a massive cross-shaped sword energy surged forward, flashing towards him with intense momentum!
“Ring the bell—!!!”
The cultivator who had lost an arm had bloodshot eyes. He could only shout back, but his figure was grazed by the end of the cross-shaped fire line, slicing through both him and the grass beneath his feet. Then, the priests behind him were hit as well. The cross-shaped sword energy from the old heretic sliced through everyone in front of him, rushing toward my direction.
Fifty meters.
The distance to the enemy, the chaotic storm, was now less than fifty meters.
Amidst the splashing of flesh and blood, I could almost see the pale strands of hair on the old heretic’s head and his solemn, gloomy expression.
Buzz—
The old archbishop’s body glowed brightly for the third time. As the sword energy approached, a loud buzzing sound filled the air. The knights ahead were already dead or injured, while the remaining cultivators gathered together, forming a human wall with their bodies wrapped in a faint protective shield.
“Great deity! Be with us!”
“Ahhh—!!!”
They screamed frantically, fearless in the face of the sword energy, trying to shield me with their bodies. The cultivators at the front huddled together, while those behind began to chant softly, preparing to counterattack. The golden light from the archbishop shot out, just as the cross-shaped sword energy was about to cut through the crowd. Many cultivators clenched their teeth and closed their eyes, but a solid ice wall, towering like a hill, suddenly appeared before them.
Boom—!!!
Frost burst forth, white mist enveloped everything, and a ten-meter-high ice hill rose from the ground. The cold cross-shaped sword energy followed closely, slamming into it. In the midst of the loud explosion, ice shards scattered like an explosion, and the thick ice hill cracked with a “crack.” In the stunned gaze of everyone, it collapsed, but it had managed to block the sword energy!
Behind the crowd, I retracted my frost-covered arm, the blue light in my eyes fading. On the beast’s back, I shouted loudly, “Go around! All of you, go around! Hurry up! Get out of the Frost Mist range! Farther away!”
After the ice hill collapsed, the spreading cold air reached the crowd. The people at the forefront started feeling the chill, their disheveled hair frosting over. Upon hearing my words, they immediately changed direction, leading the others around the piled ice blocks, continuing their charge from the sides.
On the other side, the archbishop urged his hornhorse forward, already ahead of me. The golden light from him condensed into a giant bell in the distance above the old heretic’s head. The deep and resonant bell sound echoed across the battlefield. The old man swung his short sword, just cutting down a cultivator from his mount when a huge pressure suddenly descended upon him, his body sinking as if crushed by a thousand jin weights!
“Child, now! Go—!”
The修士 controlling beasts quickly surrounded the old heretic. Amidst the flickering golden light, several chains were thrown out once more. At this moment, I and the old bishop had already circumvented the shattered ice rocks. He shouted loudly in front of me, his fingers drawing in the air, two intricately carved holy spears materializing instantly, accompanied by howling winds, “whoosh,” they flew towards the fallen heretic.
Twenty meters.
The fierce storm was already blowing against my face. The chaotic tornado carrying purple lightning was just one step away from me.
There was no time for hesitation or concern. Almost simultaneously as the old bishop shouted “go,” I had already stood up on the back of the beast, gripping Captain Gray, leaping up with the saddle. In mid-air, I stepped on the ice platform using moonstep, shooting like an arrow towards the center of the storm.
Boom—
Suddenly, in the corner of my vision, the fallen heretic was bound by the resplendent iron chains, flames bursting forth from his body. With a tremendous sound, the terrifying impact spread out from under the Golden Bell, sweeping away the surrounding Beast Controllers who were constantly moving around. Even before they hit the ground, blackened burns began to spread across their skin.
This happened almost instantaneously. The holy spears shot by the old bishop were still in transit, and the surrounding cultivators chanted in unison. Before the sin barrier could fully form around the heretic, the Golden Bell had not yet sounded a second time. At the center of the exploding flames, sword and blade light suddenly appeared amidst the ringing sounds, severing all the entangled chains. A short knife, red-hot from the flames, was thrown into the sky with a loud clang, shattering the Golden Bell!
In the next moment, wind sounded, the sharp sword light pierced through the flames, aiming at me—
Damn it!
I suddenly twisted my body in mid-air, barely avoiding that fatal strike. The crimson fireline nearly grazed my nose, leaving a deep, bottomless trench in the lawn soil. The sharp airflow struck my eardrums, filling my head with a buzzing noise. Before I could land, the old man’s figure flashed, suddenly appearing right in front of me.
For the first time, someone intercepted me while I was using moonstep. My mind was overwhelmed with shock, stunned for a moment, and when I reacted, the old heretic had already grabbed my arm in the air. He looked panicked, no longer retaining his previous gentlemanly demeanor, shouting loudly at me, “Wait, listen to me—”
“Get away!!!”
Out of necessity, I couldn’t kill you first, and you actually dared to come looking for death!
I pulled back forcefully, pressing down on his frail body as it fell to the ground. My scythe raised, I slashed fiercely at his arm which held mine!
Clang—
A cold light flashed, and the left arm of the old heretic was cleanly severed from his elbow, blood spurting out with flames. His face contorted in pain as we both tumbled to the ground, scrambling to our feet after rolling a few times. I also hurriedly got up, lifting my vicious gaze forward.
The chaotic storm was now mere inches away from me but was blocked by the old heretic. His white hair danced wildly in the thunderous gale, not rushing to attack but opening his mouth as if he wanted to say something else.
Boom—
In the next instant, azure lightning suddenly flashed from the left side of my vision, the charging thunder crashing with astonishing power, accompanied by a series of explosions, pushing the old heretic’s body and his unspoken words violently to the right.
I faintly saw the figure in the lightning.
Carlos…
No, it wasn’t… it was a woman…
“Enter the storm—”
The anxious shout of the old bishop came from behind, golden light suddenly blooming before my eyes, swirling into the storm, forcibly creating a path through it.
“Hurry! There’s no time!”
The urging voice rose again. Without further thought, I gritted my teeth and took another moonstep, instantly rushing into the storm. Through the golden light, I flew past, and in a blink, endless tree trunks appeared before me.
I reached out to touch them.
