Sixty-Second Chapter
What should be proven?
“It’s too much, it hurts…”
Hanging upside down on hooks with kitchen utensils, Akane hurriedly covered her skirt to prevent it from slipping, revealing something inappropriate. She rubbed her head where it was struck by a hard fist.
I rushed here after skipping breakfast because we had an appointment today. After wandering around in this large robot for a while and not finding anyone, it’s no wonder my stomach was growling. And then I found the kitchen which had warm food! How could I possibly resist…
“This is left by my friend for me; how could I not be angry if you touch my stuff?” Ash said, spinning a spoon he took from Akane’s mouth on his fingertip as he sat at the other end of the table, holding half a plate of food. “As punishment for eating without permission, you should reflect on yourself here!”
Akane, who felt both embarrassed and indignant, found it hard to believe what Ash said. Aside from Miyuki and Yayoi, you have other friends that get along well with you? Hanging upside down from the ceiling with disheveled hair, Akane swayed like a dried fish, her eyes filled with disbelief.
“Then, didn’t you eat all our snacks yesterday? This should count as a give-and-take, why are you so angry about it?”
In general, such situations usually lead to the cancellation of debts and mutual accommodation, right? Where did our common ground go?!
“This is our ship, and I can do whatever I want.” Scooping up the curry sauce soaking into the hamburger patty, smelling the warm, nostalgic aroma, Ash eagerly mixed it with a generous serving of rice and fed it into his mouth.
“Hold on — that spoon was just used by me! Ah….”
Seeing Ash stubbornly keep the spoon in his mouth, Akane gradually fell silent.
However, Ash wasn’t paying any heed to her anymore; his focus was entirely on the curry rice before him.
“Hu…”
After a long while, Ash finally put the spoon aside.
It seemed like such a long time had passed since he last experienced the intense taste stimulation on his tongue. Almost everything about ordinary dishes, including their appearance, fragrance, and flavor, seemed forgotten except for the taste that particularly appealed to him.
No wonder many people spend their days thinking about eating rather than anything else. Warm and delicious dishes can indeed bring immense joy to one’s soul.
If you were to ask Ash, who has lost his sense of taste for a long time, about his feelings when tasting exquisite food again, he would tell you:
“Strange how a person who got enraged over being interrupted while eating curry would destroy an emperor and his son in a cosmic-scale ruthless empire.”
Thinking back, that prince was really unusually generous compared to Regina, even more so. Sadly, his pursuit of unattainable heights due to lack of ability resulted in a tragic and pedestrian end.
“Tell me, why are you here?”
After eating his fill, Ash wiped the oil from his mouth with a cloth similar to Jo’s sword-cleaning rag and, in the end, fixed his gaze on the swaying Akane.
“I’ve already said… First let me down!”
“But this is a pirate ship. Do you think pirates will show mercy to stowaways?”
“Sigh…” With a murmur, Akane finally submitted to Ash’s ‘tyranny’. “Fine, if you must know… When you were leaving, I happened to find a door on the pink foot. Seeing it wasn’t locked, I just walked in.”
“It’s so simple… You actually climbed all the way from the foot to the cockpit.”
“There’s nothing to it. I’m part of the school volleyball team!”
Ash estimated it was another instance where the princess forgot to close the door. Without holding a grudge, he swung his hand, cutting the rope that suspended her.
“However, I told you and Xie about this before,” meeting the pair of crimson eyes in his embrace, Ash, having stripped away the previous frivolous facade, took on a more commanding tone.
“Attacking your Change Device is definitely my problem, but considering what happened, if you guys can’t transform, don’t get involved indiscriminately either. Engaging in battle purely out of heart desire is extremely dangerous! Not only might you harm your companions, but what good are you to yourself if you rush in?!”
We’ve already broken through the atmosphere and entered space. If something happens now, you won’t have anywhere to return!
Gazing out the porthole at the magnificent yet indifferent vast expanse of stars, Ash felt such anger that even he started to feel carried away.
“Why won’t you listen, and disobey me on purpose!”
“Because — I am showing you!”
Akane clenched her fists, her expression resolute and determined.
Ash tilted his head, puzzled by a riddle he didn’t understand here in this world.
“You said I’m not suitable as a Pretty Cure, wanting to avoid injury, so you sealed our transformation abilities!”
“Now I’m proving I can do things and have the courage to act to show you were wrong!”
With these words pouring out the genuine and valiant spirit of a young girl, Ash fell silent momentarily. Just as Akane felt she had won with her fierce manner, Ash gently put her down and turned toward the cockpit, his voice devoid of emotion.
“Are… you a fool?”
“What!?” The girl immediately showed displeasure. What does “are you a fool” mean? Compared to Miyuki, who often fails all weekly tests, at least I’ve passed half in ten subjects, and I always score full marks in PE!
“Hot-blooded fool might sound bad, but it’s good. Hot blood makes a warrior charge forward without hesitation, and a fool pushes beyond their limits. However, relying solely on these qualities will never win against true enemies.”
“I’m not your father or mother.”
With a tumultuous feeling deep inside, Ash lost interest in her changing expressions and stepped alone back into the cockpit.
“You don’t need to prove anything to me, or to anyone. The only one you need to prove it to is yourself.”
