Fifty-Ninth Chapter
Ash: It doesn’t matter, I’ll step in.
“This way!?” Akane stood up abruptly from her seat, slamming her fists on the table in agitation. “How are we supposed to stop it then?!”
“Do you mean stop? Stop a small asteroid weighing trillions of tons from falling to Earth? Are you kidding me?” Ash chuckled under their grim expressions, leaning back with his legs crossed behind him. “Are you going to use your Pretty Cure powers to push it back?”
“Ultraman isn’t a god, and neither can you girls be called gods.”
“But… but!”
Akane wanted to say more, but after looking around, she saw everyone’s expressions were downcast.
Why does everyone seem to lack confidence?
“A 10-kilometer asteroid…” Rihua frowned as she leaned her forehead against her interlocked fingers. “Can the power of Pretty Cure match such a scale?”
“As for my little siblings…” Thinking of her younger brothers, sisters, and family, Naoko was already shaken.
“Daddy…” On the other side, Yayoi had even begun to pray with her eyes closed. “Please, protect me…”
“Sugar, what should we do?”
“I don’t know…” Sugar, as an elf who brought this power from the Fairy Kingdom, was also feeling down, no longer being noisy. “Sugar doesn’t know about Kuru either…”
In the past, they had been fighting against various tragic worlds and Clown Monsters created by the Tragedy Kingdom with this power.
Even when facing powerful enemies that were nearly invincible, including Ash who guarded treasures like a dragon, they had won over enemies with all sorts of formidable or bizarre powers by believing in themselves.
But, could these legendary warriors, who fought to this day, stand against such a calamity-like enemy?
Now, even flying like the angels in stories seemed out of reach for them.
The girls didn’t know how to answer…
“Everyone!” Just at this moment of despair, Miyuki stepped forward.
“If we give up now, it will truly be a surrender!”
Her expression did not seem defeated by this terrible reality; perhaps she didn’t fully understand the situation, but she knew one thing was certain.
“Besides, if we haven’t actually seen a trend orNibiru, why act as if we’re sure to lose!?”
Miyuki’s voice, like a hammer smashing through despair, rang in their hearts, reminding them to find a glimmer of hope from Ash’s words.
“Indeed,” Li Hua stood up resolutely, her calm returning. “If we Pretty Cures lose hope over something like this, then what will others do?”
“You’re right, it’s too early to be pessimistic,” Ash’s tapping on the table brought their attention back. At this moment, they noticed a strange smile on his face, almost as if he were watching their despair.
“If you think you will surely lose from the start, the only chance you have will definitely fail.”
“Hold on, Ash, do you mean you’ve already made plans?!”
Why talk as if there’s no hope left when there’s a solution?
“Of course, I have solutions, but defeating this isn’t something the two of us can handle alone.”
It couldn’t be helped; seeing you all struggle and rise again in despair is just so beautiful…
“Please, Mr. Ash, teach us!”
Seeing Naoko and Rihua earnestly requesting, Ash graciously opened the book in front of him, revealing his true plan.
“In fact, if I calculated correctly, you don’t need to directly confront the asteroid.”
If the Tragedy Kingdom’s ability to suddenly change orbits, dragging the asteroid into Earth, were present here, there would be no need to consider anything else since they could turn Earth into an ice age and harvest a large wave of tragic energy.
After some research, Ash successfully found the energy that pulled the asteroid toward Earth in the air, likely a special item or a Clown Monster with special abilities. Pretty Cure needed to address this issue head-on!
“However,” Miyuki raised an objection. “If by the time we defeat the Tragedy Kingdom, that ‘primitive form of Nibiru’ is unstoppable, what then?”
Even defeating the enemy, yet still watching a Bad End happen… No way!
“At that time…”
A deep purple metallic gear was flipped up by Ash’s thumb, then snapped back onto his hand with another hand.
“It’s my turn, to push it away.”
“What—!?”
Ash’s audacious statement shocked the girls, especially Akane, who pointed straight at him with her open mouth.
“Just now, you said pushing the asteroid away was impossible! What’s happening?”
To Akane’s question, Ash laughed, keeping quiet as he brought the gear close.
“Guess which team will come in?”
After addressing the girls’ inquiries, his last remark—”If you don’t go home, your mothers will worry”—sent them home. Ash promised to meet them tomorrow for another round of saving the world.
Whether people worried or were excited enough to stay awake… Well, that’s not my concern.
“Not bad.”
Seeing no one around, Ash took a peach cookie from the girls’ snack jar and carefully chewed it.
Come to think of it, I can taste something sweet?
“Ack! That’s the snack I brought from my hometown!”
As she opened the door and walked into the wooden cabin, Akane saw the scene of Ash eating the cookie and forgot to take her backpack.
“Oh? Is it good?”
Ash bit off another piece, chewing with a cheek slightly puffed out. “Not bad, bring me some next time.”
“What’s wrong with you…”
Don’t you feel any shame…? I’m getting a little embarrassed…
And now, they were alone.
