Chapter 54: Arthur, This is Your Opportunity
Upon learning about this matter, Arthur certainly couldn’t just sit back and wait.
However, there weren’t many people he could discuss this with.
He’s no longer the solitary person he once was; now he had to consider many factors.
So, before taking action, he needed to find someone to have a good discussion with.
Ideally, he wanted to devise a perfect plan.
The only one who could discuss this matter with Arthur was the Shadow.
The others around him had no idea about the beautiful connection Arthur once had with the Elven Queen, who was now at the center of controversy.
After summoning Shadow back, Arthur immediately went to consult with him regarding this issue.
In that same inn, which had become their regular meeting place.
“Shadow, you should be aware of that matter by now!”
Arthur sat across from Shadow with a serious expression.
Just thinking about that issue made him furious, let alone voicing it out loud.
So, he simply referred to it as “that matter.”
As the audience, Shadow couldn’t help but twitch his mouth, thinking:
Thank goodness I understood; otherwise, it would have turned into a farce.
Just imagining a cross-domain chat was quite awkward.
“My lord, I’ve heard about that matter, but I think you don’t need to be so angry.”
Shadow not only knew about it but also understood the impact it had on Arthur over the past few days.
“Those people are forcing Ailia!”
Arthur looked at Shadow, his eyes filled with rage.
Though he knew Ailia was merely a pseudonym used by Airael, he preferred to refer to her as Ailia.
“Actually, I think this is also an opportunity for you.”
Shadow smiled, looking unbothered.
“Opportunity? What opportunity?”
The bloodshot in Arthur’s eyes faded, replaced by confusion.
“From what I know, your Elven Queen Your Majesty is not fully complying with those people’s wishes. Although she agreed to hold some sort of martial arts competition for marriage proposals, the candidates are quite broad; the requirement is merely that the winner must be an excellent young man from the Human Race, and even then, it’s only a qualification.”
“So what’s the big deal?”
Arthur continued to question.
Seeing his expression, Shadow’s forehead twitched.
He had been very clear, yet it seemed Arthur still hadn’t caught on?
After observing for a while and realizing Arthur truly didn’t understand, Shadow had to explain, “My lord, you are now also one of the excellent young men of the Human Race. If you do get selected, it would be easy for you to win the favor of our Elven Queen Your Majesty. This means those people’s efforts are effectively working for you.”
Arthur’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.
That’s right!
How did I not think of this earlier?
Plus, it gives me a perfectly legitimate reason to seek out Airael.
Even though he was now a father, no one outside knew about it.
Let alone the fact that his goal was to retrieve his wife and daughter.
In his heart, Arthur already regarded Airael as his wife.
Although they hadn’t held a wedding, they had done everything else, and they even had a child together.
This was certainly more persuasive than any wedding.
Seeing that Arthur finally understood, Shadow added, “However, my lord, you should also be mentally prepared. From the previous news I brought, it seems that Airael Your Majesty doesn’t wish to see you right now; this could become an obstacle.”
“Shadow, Ailia must have feelings for me!”
Arthur was very confident about this.
They had shared an intimate bond countless times, and Airael had given him their love child.
Shadow didn’t comment on Arthur’s confidence about this.
He couldn’t say for sure.
So, he merely emphasized the current reality to Arthur: “I know that, but the fact remains that Airael Your Majesty doesn’t want to see you right now.”
They weren’t discussing the past or the future; only the present.
This statement struck a blow to Arthur’s confidence.
Indeed, the current Ailia did not wish to see him.
Although he didn’t know the specific reason, it was an undeniable fact.
Watching Arthur’s spirit dim, Shadow shook his head and didn’t say anything more.
He had already expressed everything that needed to be said; now he just had to wait for Arthur to come to his own conclusion.
He believed Arthur would figure it out, and it wouldn’t take too long.
Sure enough, Shadow didn’t have to wait long; Arthur soon bounced back and looked at Shadow, saying, “Shadow, even if this is an undeniable fact, I will strive to fight for it. I won’t let anyone else claim this qualification; that’s absolutely out of the question!”
The determination on his face and the blazing fire in his eyes expressed his resolve.
Seeing such a determined Arthur, Shadow felt quite satisfied.
He hoped that Arthur would have a smooth journey ahead.
Whether it was Arthur’s career or his love life, both were expertly intertwined at this moment.
Having resolved to join in the competition for marriage proposals, Arthur returned and began preparing for this endeavor.
His mood improved significantly with a set plan, and the territory gradually returned to its previous state, with residents living their usual lives.
Everything that happened here was observed by one person.
Avalon, upon receiving the news that Arthur had joined the competition for her hand, found herself somewhat amused yet speechless.
But upon further reflection, it made perfect sense.
Arthur now knew her identity as the Elven Queen.
So, would he let her simply marry another man?
From what Avalon’s gathered knowledge of Arthur, the answer was clearly no. Though he lacked talent in romance, he cherished what belonged to him.
And she had clearly been labeled as his.
His various actions had also affirmed this point.
Although some of his somewhat macho behavior didn’t disgust Avalon, it even brought a hint of sweetness to her heart.
Realizing she had such thoughts, the daydreaming Avalon quickly shook her head.
She was the Elven Queen!
Even if Arthur was her man, she shouldn’t rely too much on him.
She should be self-reliant.
The Elven Race couldn’t depend on others for their survival; they needed to be self-sufficient.
Forcing herself to dispel these inappropriate thoughts, Avalon threw herself back into her work.
As for the Humans, they could stir up their own troubles.
What she needed to do now was to watch and develop the Elven Race, buying as much time as possible.
With Avalon gaining the loyalty of numerous Elven Race members, they entered a new phase of development, constantly evolving.
