Chapter 155: Long Night, Hidden Flame Part Two
Whoosh—
The howling wind tore through the night sky. Inside the fence on the south side of the town, the Holy Lance, wrapped in golden light, shot towards the approaching flames outside the town.
The fire struck the ground, igniting a massive blaze in the orchard. Outside the town, dozens of golden-armored knights stood in a row under the crimson night sky. The leading knight raised his sword and commanded, “Shield formation!”
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Heavy iron shields crashed to the ground, forming a shield wall in a straight line. The sharp spikes on the shields, about two inches long, gleamed ominously under the firelight. Hooks stabbed out from between the shields. At this moment, holy light shone within the fence, enveloping the knights in a thin protective shield.
Ahead, the flying Holy Lance exploded on impact with the ground. Several figures burning with infernal fire dashed out from both sides of the explosion, led by a giant man who let out a hoarse laugh.
He accelerated, raising his battle axe, and in an instant, charged to the front of the shield wall. His waist was pierced by a hook, drawing blood, but his movements were unaffected. With a loud crash, he swung the axe at the shield, causing a deafening sound. Flames scattered and raged, breaking the knights’ formation, and the figures were sent flying.
“Hahahaha! This is exhilarating—”
The giant laughed, pulling out the sickle deeply embedded in his abdomen. Burning blood trickled down his thigh, but he paid no heed. Raising his huge axe, he prepared to strike again. Suddenly, another wind howl approached. The giant looked up and saw two Holy Lances coming one after another, piercing through his chest and exiting from his back, before striking the ground.
“Mmm…”
The giant’s expression froze, and he took two steps back with a groan. In the next moment, dazzling gold light showered over him, and the melodious chime of the Golden Bell echoed.
Ding, ding—
As the bell rang, the giant fell to his knees.
At this moment, the other four heretics charged forward. The knights quickly reorganized to meet the attack head-on. Miraculous light flickered continuously, and the sounds of battle—”Boom, boom, boom”—echoed in the southern part of the town. The fight intensified instantly. Someone’s body was crushed by a punch, and another was engulfed by flames, screaming as they fell.
“Exactly like that. Kill these wretches. It has to be done this way…”
Not far behind, Mr. J, pale-faced, bit his finger and muttered, “Six of them, charging head-on, unrestrained… We can’t use many of our preparations. A bunch of lunatics.”
I nodded, “Just what I wanted.”
My gaze turned to the battle outside the fence.
Holy light and infernal fire intertwined. Heretics clad in infernal flames broke through the encirclement of dozens of knights. They roared and shrieked like wild beasts, tearing apart the knights’ armor with their bare hands or setting their heads ablaze. Their expressions were frenzied, as if enjoying the act of killing… They were not just lunatics; they were a pack of beasts devoid of humanity.
A surge of anger filled my chest. Frowning, I asked, “Who is the jester?”
“Not confirmed yet…”
“Oh.”
Then, let’s take them all down.
Whoosh—
Frost power condensed beneath my feet once more.
“Miss Silvija, the enemy is very powerful. You are alone. Should we wait—”
Crack!
Before the other could finish speaking, I stepped on the ice spears and leaped into the air again. Moon Step activated, carrying the force of frost, accompanied by a fierce wind, rushing towards the outskirts of the town.
Hundred meters…
Fifty meters.
Below, the heretics broke through the knights’ defenses in an instant. They shouted excitedly, flames rolling around them, smoke rising. The nearest direction, a knight burned by infernal fire fell. The giant, stepping out from under the cover of the Golden Bell, crushed the earth beneath his feet, then spotted me in mid-air and laughed wildly, throwing his deformed battle axe.
…Let’s start with you!
Crack! Crack!
Two extremely cold frost mists burst from my palms. My petite body suddenly changed direction in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the incoming battle axe. An ice platform formed, and I landed on it, bending my knees slightly. With a sudden burst, I executed the Moon Step!
Whoosh—
Gale winds whistled past my ears. In my vision, the giant figure outside the fence, initially a small black dot, rapidly expanded to less than fifty meters away. In an instant, the face with a scar came into view.
“Hey, you…”
He opened his mouth to shout, his lips stretching wide, his face showing extreme excitement. Realizing the formidable enemy approaching, the giant felt indescribable joy. However, in the next moment, unimaginable and unparalleled force erupted in front of him with overwhelming power.
Rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle…
Boom!!!
The overwhelming power surged like a tidal wave, overturning everything in its path. In that instant, the fragile arm of the young girl, which seemed as if it could be snapped by the giant, was struck by a frosty force akin to an avalanche. He didn’t even have time to see her face clearly before he felt a numbness throughout his body, and any attempt to move became impossible.
It was an overwhelmingly powerful force, completely unreasonable and unmanageable.
A frenzied cold current swept over him instantly. The giant’s robust physique turned into a piece of white paper fluttering in the wind, flying out at incredible speed!
It seemed as if the entire world was left with only the howling wind and frost.
At this moment, his mind went blank; he couldn’t react at all. However, the girl was faster. Just when he thought he would be flung into the sky, she appeared in front of him in the air, about twenty meters off the ground. Her petite figure flashed before him, and then her arm was grabbed tightly.
As if appearing from amidst the frost and snow, the stern yet enchanting face flashed before the giant’s eyes. His right arm was immediately gripped by an iron-like force.
The man could feel that force but was powerless to resist. His entire body had already been eroded by frost. Tiny, pristine ice flowers bloomed on his bulging muscles. Frost covered his face and eyes. The flames of karma had long dissipated, and his vision began to blur.
“Three hundred, thirty-six.”
In a daze, he heard the girl call out the number.
The giant did not know what it meant, but he sensed from her captivating yet cold, emotionless voice, the ominous declaration of death.
At least, let me know your name…
This was the giant’s last thought, but he had no chance.
Amidst the swirling snow, the girl swung his arm and slammed it down hard onto the ground. Her petite figure followed closely, passing through countless surging icy currents. Her skirt and hair were covered with thin frost, and her dark eyes glowed with a crimson light. As the frozen giant fell to the ground, she clenched her small fist and launched an attack like an arrow, striking the giant’s frozen abdomen with a punch.
Bang!
A loud, muffled sound spread from the land shrouded in ice mist.
Outside the fence, the heretics paused their offensive. Someone dropped a half-dead knight and turned back woodenly, gazing at the area extensively covered in frost. The terrifying cold current spread from outside the fence to a small hill a hundred meters away. Everything on the ground, plants, trees, was instantly frozen. The intense cold continued to spread, and high up in the sky, frozen birds fell stiffly to the ground, landing in the nearby grass.
Their most valiant companion who once stood there now had nothing left except for the icy spikes surrounding the area and a pair of purple feet stuck to the ground.
“Creak.”
Those feet shattered.
“What kind of joke is this…”
“Who is that person…”
The heretics had not yet recovered from their shock.
Not only them, but several priests and members of the faith who had stayed behind and did not go south with the Pope were also stunned by that earth-shattering blow.
Ten seconds ago, people here believed that Miss Silvija was alone and had rashly charged forward to face six strong heretics head-on, which was overly arrogant and reckless. At least, they should have informed Lord Karl and Lady Olivia to see if they should continue with the original plan…
But now, it seemed that the one disrupting the original plan was not the heretics… but…
“God above…”
“Go notify the rear and ask what they should do next. Is there a chance to annihilate the enemy directly on the perimeter!”
The ice mist lingering among the bushes slowly dispersed.
The girl appeared before everyone’s eyes.
She stepped out of a nearly one-meter-wide pit. Mud was still falling, and inside the pit, the giant’s body, which had been frozen, was now shattered into pieces of flesh and blood, making it difficult to distinguish limbs.
“…Phew—”
I exhaled lightly.
Stepping out from the remaining frost, I shook off the frost on my dress and gently twisted my neck… That punch was too hard, and it seemed to have twisted my neck a bit…
It was somewhat uncomfortable, but it didn’t affect my movement.
Outside the town, the knights were still fighting the heretics, but the enemies seemed to have lost their previous momentum, appearing distracted. They released karma flames to counterattack the church while keeping an eye on where I was.
…That muscular man certainly wasn’t a clown. He was too weak.
The red glow in my eyes had vanished. I looked down at my hands, clenching and unclenching them. My fingers were delicate and smooth, but the physical strength enhanced by the karma flames within me, despite numerous practices, was still a bit difficult to control when exerted fully.
I pursed my lips.
So, who is the clown…
Could it be the skinny one?
Fixing my gaze on the nearest heretic, I exhaled a breath of frost, taking moon steps. Amidst the howling wind, the sound of cracking ice echoed from my right hand. In an instant, as I dashed to the tall and skinny heretic, a short glaive made of extreme ice was formed, held high above my head, and slashed down upon the heretic!
