Chapter 511. Cold, Dark, and Complicated (4)
The problem was that the rest of the clans were in a similar situation.

[Announcement: Let’s Communicate]
– [I think we’re screwed.]
– [[Collection of Bases Agreeing with the Icarus Kingdom’s Base Alliance Opinion.jpg]]
– [Well, except for Avalon and Arklight, the other bases joined us.]
– [Yeah.]
– [But most of the major clans, the ones with real power, don’t seem interested.]
– [……]
– [Guess they’re just like Icarus.]
—
No matter how much the Central Base Alliance friends sweet-talked and promised future glory, the problem was that the clans of the Icarus Kingdom were just too lazy to deal with all the tasks required in the process. Like, *way* too lazy.

[Central Base Alliance Official Chat Room]
[Announcement: Let’s Communicate]
– [F*** this.] (Durian)
– [LOLOLOLOL]
– [Why are they refusing when it’s supposed to be a guaranteed win for them???]
– [They said it’s too much work.]
– [They’re like, “We’re doing fine without it, so if it’s so great, why don’t you come do it yourself?”]
– [Smart move.]
—
Because of this, the plan initiated by a user named Durian ended up getting twisted in all sorts of ways.
Originally, the plan was to bribe a bunch of clan leaders and base chiefs who had taken the bait from the Alliance. Then, using their “authority,” they’d gaslight or subtly manipulate regular users into following their agenda. Ultimately, the goal was to gaslight even Icarus and create a clan exclusive to the Central Zone again.
But while they managed to secure a majority of the bases, the actual “docked user population” was nowhere near enough. New clans popping up in the kingdom ended up becoming the minority, and… well, things didn’t go as planned.

[Announcement: Let’s Communicate]
– [So what do we do now?]
– [I didn’t expect them to just not do it because it’s too much work.] (Durian)
– [What now???]
– [Ha, f*** this LOL]
– [Hey, no swearing.]
—
The Central Base Alliance concluded that their political maneuvering had failed—at least for the time being.

[Announcement: Let’s Communicate]
– [What else can we do? Time for Plan B, LOL.]
– [It’s not like we completely failed to recruit anyone, right?]
– [We can use those people to plant our faction inside and slowly take over bit by bit.]
– [For real LOL.]
– [Ugh, this is gonna take forever.]
– [Well, if we can dominate the Central Zone starting with Icarus’s territory, we can win the game, right?]
– [Sigh, f***… I guess so.]
– [Come on, everyone, let’s stay strong and fight!]
– [Young.]
– [Cha.]
– [Young.]
– [Cha.]
– [Young.]
– [Cha.]
– [What are you all doing?]
– [Back in the day, this was a trend, you know.]
—
Just like Antares’s Humanity, which is currently suffering from all sorts of restrictions, the Central Base Alliance’s ultimate goal was also “winning the game.” Learning from Humanity’s mistake of openly waging a conquest war and getting brutally restricted by what they assume are the admins, the Alliance decided to move covertly, staying out of sight of both the admins and other users, and began scheming again for victory.
And at that very moment, a “sinister, dark, and utterly bizarre” conspiracy involving the Central Base Alliance was unfolding.
—
It hadn’t even been that long since the new year started, and I was already being harassed by energetic trolls and perverts or suffering through mental labor like reading Kraken x self fanfics.
When I heard in the gallery that all sorts of clans were popping up like mushrooms in that damn “Icarus Kingdom,” I just thought, “Well, whatever.”
“Commander, here’s your milk tea.”
“Yo.”
“Ah, thank you.”
“By the way, all sorts of clans have been popping up in our territory lately. What are you gonna do about it?”
“Clans, you say?”
And that thought didn’t change even when Jessica, who brought me some milk tea (delicious), spoke up.
Seeing Jessica’s bunny ears perk up in confusion, I took a sip of my milk tea, placed the mug on the armrest of the command seat, and then, with a very serious demeanor, clasped my hands together and spoke.
“Do whatever you want, I don’t care. Just let them do it.”
“…So you’re just too lazy to think about it, huh?”
“Busted.”
Of course, Jessica was momentarily speechless at my attitude, but…
It wasn’t like they were trying to forcibly appoint me as the leader of some mega-clan again, and since they were just doing their own thing, I couldn’t help but think, “Oh, whatever, as long as they don’t bother me, it’s fine!”
But apart from that, I wondered, “So who’s making clans, how, and how many?” So I decided to open the chat window to get a grasp of the situation.
And right after opening the chat window…

[The Most Glorious and Sacred Icarus Kingdom Chat Room]
[Notice: Don’t overdo clan recruitment ads]
-[What’s with the room name? Lol]
-[Soon it’ll be the Holy Icarus Empire]
-[Looking for people!]
-[How do I mine resources more efficiently?]
-[The most efficient way is to have mining ships just mine, and for destroyers, strip everything except one main gun and equip transport modules]
-[Normal-grade destroyers have the same speed as mining ships, so they can work together well, and when they return to base with resources, the mining ships will be just about done]
-[Oh, nice]
[Mine has entered the chat]
-[I came to check out the Leviathan Fleet base, where should I go?]
-[Just head to the central zone, or get a tour guide]
-[There are guides?]

‘What the heck.’
Seeing that the unofficial yet official chat room of my territory had a name like that, I couldn’t help but feel like my users had gone off the rails while I was away doing some erasing in the gallery.
Of course, since that level of nonsense was still something I could laugh off, I took a deep breath, pressing my throbbing temples.

[Central Zone Neutral Zone Chat Room]
[Notice: The Kingdom has fallen, changing the room name to ‘Central Zone Neutral Zone’]
-[From now on, the Kingdom is no more] (Icarus)
-[Nooo!!!!]
-[The Kingdom has fallen!]
-[The King has destroyed the Kingdom!]
-[Oh, my King, why have you forsaken us?]
-[Ah, damn it, please stop] (Icarus)
-[Royalists are done lol]
—————————————–
Without hesitation, I changed the room name and notice, swiftly dealing with the nonsense of the “royalists.”
Of course, my actions led to a flood of lamentations from the royalists in the chat room.

“With this, the Kingdom has fallen, and a republic led by a citizens’ council formed by village chiefs from each base is expected to take its place.”
“The former King Icarus will serve as the President…”

With the story spiraling like that, I could feel my blood pressure skyrocketing.
