Chapter 12: Back to School
Without much deliberation, it was back to the grindstone, no time wasted.
Poor Xiaoling, just waking up and still in bed, she was already exhausted and fell asleep again.
Bai Ling wasn’t sleepy yet. Watching Yuan Xiaoling sleep soundly, she gently tucked her in with a blanket.
The sun had set beyond the window once more, and the moon accompanied the rising tide, its shimmering light splashing onto the pillow next to the girl’s cute sleeping face, as if searching for the jade rabbit hidden beneath the covers.
This was fine, Bai Ling thought – she wasn’t normal, but neither did Yuan Xiaoling seem interested in a normal romance.
Normal girls don’t become lifelong tussling little female spirits.
Yuan Xiaoling’s cherry lips moved slightly, muttering something unintelligible. Bai Ling focused her hearing.
“Half an hour? No problem, I’ll easily drain her.”
“…”
“…”
“Huff~~~ Wow~~~~”
Awakening from a long, refreshing nap, Yuan Xiaoling stretched her arms high, giving herself a good stretch. Dabeitu lifted the blanket high into the air.
Where was Bai Ling? She seemed not to be in the room.
Yuan Xiaoling rubbed her eyes, pulling the blanket aside, finding her clothes neatly folded at the bedside. On top were her cat-print panties and underwear – the same ones she wore when she came.
There was also a note that read, “If you’re hungry, press the service bell and have the hotel send up food.”
So Yuan Xiaoling pressed it.
Click. The door opened, and Yuan Xiaoling wondered how fast the service was until she saw Bai Ling walk in.
In this case, entering refers to coming into the room, not into Xiaoling. Because there had been too many entries over the past two days, so it needed clarification — random thoughts swirled through the young girl’s mind.
“Where’d you go?” she asked, “Out having fun?”
Why didn’t you call me to come along to the beach?
“Just went out to sit for a bit, get some fresh air,” Bai Ling said lightly.
And to cool down.
Not because of any mood change or anything, mainly because before coming here, she planned to relax on the beach all day, sort out her jumbled thoughts, and then carefully plan the next move upon returning.
But instead, they enjoyed themselves for three whole days, completely blanking everything else. Forget the next move; they didn’t even know where they’d go next.
Thinking about this, Bai Ling shot Yuan Xiaoling a glare.
“What’s wrong?” the blonde busty girl blinked innocently.
“Nothing much, eat your meal, then pack up.”
While Yuan Xiaoling ate, Bai Ling roughly figured out their next move — back to school.
It was hard to find a suitable place in the city center, and the location was sensitive. She had just eliminated several “experts,” and was already at the center of attention in Tianhai City’s Spiritual Energy Manipulator circle. Going there now could easily cause an extreme reaction.
Anyway, they had already tricked two people into working for them, so waiting for news in a safe place would suffice, and school was an excellent hiding spot.
Too many people around; if anything happened, it would make big news. In the early stages of spiritual awakening, most Spiritual Energy Manipulators were still concerned about social impact.
“Finished eating, where are we going?”
“Back to the dormitory.”
“The dorm… sounds good.”
Better than staying in a hotel, at least in the dorm, there wouldn’t be excessive exhaustion.
Tianhai University remained Tianhai University, as the top institution in Tianhai City, despite all the gossip recently, the academic atmosphere was still strong.
When Yuan Xiaoling returned to the dormitory, her two roommates were struggling with their thesis topics.
“Hey, look who’s back, our swimsuit warrior goddess,” Gu Hui noticed her first.
“Isn’t it Swimsuit Bodhisattva?” Qiao Lili teased.
Yuan Xiaoling waved her little hand in greeting and climbed onto her bed to sit down.
Both roommates approached her.
“How was it? What’s the score after these few days?” Qiao Lili couldn’t wait to ask, “Did you and Bai Ling battle countless rounds? Who won?”
Yuan Xiaoling managed a weak smile. “This time… narrowly lost.”
“Narrowly lost?”
Gu Hui and Qiao Lili exchanged serious looks.
Given what they knew about Yuan Xiaoling, her cute little mouth always proclaimed victory.
A real win was total domination, a small loss was still a win, and a major loss counted as a minor win.
But when she admitted a narrow defeat herself, that meant… she was thoroughly dominated.
There was nothing she could do; Xiaoling really couldn’t tough it out this time. Every time she thought about that almost ten-hour experience that night, she couldn’t help but shiver.
Low heat, quick stir-fry, gentle thrusts, slow grinding.
“No, let’s not talk about that,” Yuan Xiaoling changed the subject, “How about you guys? How was your weekend?”
The two roommates sighed together.
“Don’t mention it, we haven’t even decided on a thesis topic.”
“The disappearance of popular culture over time, how could the teacher come up with such an abstract title?”
Yuan Xiaoling crossed her arms. “Looks like you guys haven’t figured out the first step. Coincidentally, I have a pretty good topic.”
So, while we’ve been playing around outside for three days, you guys haven’t made any progress and still need my help. Without me, this dorm would fall apart!
“What topic?”
“Emo Kids!”
Upon hearing the three words from the blonde-haired maiden, the two roommates fell into deep thought.
Hmm, well, at first glance, it seems a bit unreliable, but upon further reflection, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Indeed, it fits the criteria, making it a qualified topic.
“But it’s been a long time since then, and we don’t know much about this former group. We can only search for information online,” Qiao Lili voiced her concern, “Is that okay?”
If we don’t contribute anything original and just patch together online materials, we’ll face a terrifying thing—plagiarism detection.
“Don’t worry, I know an uncle who used to be an emo kid,” Yuan Xiaoling puffed out her chest, “Leave it to me.”
Now the two roommates understood—it was all pre-planned.
“Then let’s get started,” Qiao Lili held her laptop, “I’ll look up some info.”
These few days, the thesis topic selection had driven both of them crazy.
Yuan Xiaoling proudly thought, this dorm indeed can’t function without me. She lay down on the bed and picked up her mobile phone, preparing to open a chat window with Uncle He.
[锁爱の焱燄: You’ll understand later (#smiley).]
Huh?
After scrolling through the chat history, Yuan Xiaoling’s previous question was asking why he said the beast in one’s heart is a shark. Originally, the blonde girl just casually asked, expecting Uncle He to casually answer, but instead, he sent such a strange reply.
Curious, but let’s deal with the thesis first.
[Lemon: Uncle He, are you there? Do you have time? I want to learn about your emo-kid days.]
Five minutes later, Uncle He came online.
[锁爱の焱燄: Did you see those things on my space? Haha, they’re all from my youth. If you’re interested, I’ll have a couple of days off soon, and I’ll tell you more then.]
[Lemon: Okay~ You keep busy then, thank you, Uncle He.]
Putting down her phone, Yuan Xiaoling told her roommates, “I’ve contacted him. In a few days, we’ll hear firsthand accounts from a former emo kid. You two work hard, I’m going to conserve my energy.”
Saying that, she closed her eyes contentedly, feeling she deserved a rest.
Gu Hui and Qiao Lili exchanged glances. Though they didn’t speak, they both understood each other’s meaning.
‘Seems like Lemon really got worked over these past three days.’
‘Yeah, worn out.’
