Chapter 10: The Heaviest Sword Has No Edge
On the little path by the seaside, two girls who had changed back into normal clothes were walking back wearily.
These were Xin Lan and Yi Jie, two Heaven’s Favorite Daughters who were always in the spotlight elsewhere but had just taken a big fall since arriving at Tianhai City.
40:0…
“Our performance today was poor,” Xin Lan muttered as she walked, suddenly feeling a bit puzzled. “Why did she still agree?”
“Maybe she thinks we have resilience?” Yi Jie guessed.
Being hammered with forty balls and still finishing the game could be considered resilience, right? Maybe this water volleyball match was a trial after all.
Xin Lan nodded in agreement, thinking it very possible.
“Let’s try to complete the next trial sooner.”
Show her value, make Bai Ling realize that they’re not like that brainless Blonde Busty Girl decoration.
…
At this moment, the Blonde Busty Girl was being carried towards the hotel.
“Put me down, I won’t run away,” Yuan Xiaoling tried to resist. “I can walk myself.”
Being carried like a little girl while her Dabeitu bounced along with every step, so embarrassing.
Bai Ling didn’t budge. Why put her down when it felt so comfortable? She enjoyed the sensation of softness bumping against her body with each step, quite pleasant indeed.
And—she whispered close to Yuan Xiaoling’s ear, “Did you forget what I did before?”
Yuan Xiaoling hesitated slightly, remembering how this person had planted mental suggestions on everyone at the beach to get what she wanted.
She glanced around cautiously; people on the beach were busy with their own affairs. Occasionally someone would glance at them, giving only a knowing smile without much reaction.
In their eyes, Bai Ling transcended everything, allowed to do anything.
But Ningning felt embarrassed, unable to look at others, raising her little head to gaze at the sea instead.
The sun was setting, the distant horizon roiling with waves, one after another. When night fell, they would welcome the moon’s tide.
Ningning knew that she too would soon welcome her own tide.
But upon further thought, tides come quickly and go quickly. Just like how high or long the ocean tides depend not on themselves but on the moon’s gravity.
Ningning was the same. How high or long her tide would be depended not on her Water Dragon Lord tier but on how good Bai Ling was.
To sum it up in one sentence—what’s there to fear, thirty minutes of chaos.
Bai Ling raised an eyebrow.
The big Dabeitu in her arms suddenly stopped fussing, no longer sensing any panic or fear. She looked down to see Yuan Xiaoling calm, her little face seemingly inscribed with “who cares.”
“What happened earlier?” Bai Ling asked curiously.
“Nothing, just a bit sleepy,” Yuan Xiaoling yawned cutely. “Let’s finish early and rest. Playing ball today was exhausting.”
Bai Ling tightened her lips, saying nothing.
Whatever, she’ll take action.
The beach hotel was located a distance from the edge where tides couldn’t reach. Since it was off-season, there were plenty of empty rooms, and Bai Ling easily secured the best room.
The first thing upon entering was tossing Yuan Xiaoling onto the bed.
“Wait,” Yuan Xiaoling suddenly said. “Let me check the time.”
“Why check the time?”
“To see if there’s time for dailies later. Oh, there are three hours left, so whatever,” Yuan Xiaoling put her phone back. “Come on.”
Bai Ling didn’t move, just looking meaningfully at her.
“Don’t stare, hurry up,” Yuan Xiaoling touched the tie of her swimsuit underwear, then thought for a moment and said, “Maybe I don’t need to take it off.”
“Why?”
Out of interest or instinct, Bai Ling asked this question, her voice calm.
Yuan Xiaoling spoke bluntly, “Because your hands are small.”
Just like eating instant noodles, you don’t need to fully uncover the lid, just open half of it.
After saying that, a system notification appeared in her mind.
[Ding Dong, Congratulations for completing Weekly Task: Provocation. Reward: Fourth-tier Advancement Fragment (1/3)]
What? Did I just provoke her?
Yuan Xiaoling blinked her eyes but quickly calmed down.
Provoking is provoking, it wasn’t the first or second time anyway. Compared to that, she cared more about the one-third reward.
What does it mean? When she gathers three advancement fragments, she’ll advance to the fourth tier?
[Yes.]
That’s great!
Happy Yuan Xiaoling didn’t pay attention as she was lifted onto Bai Ling’s lap.
Huh, here we go again? Fine by her, it’s like coming home with Bai Ling.
Compared to usual, today was slow and gentle, almost as if out of energy.
Yuan Xiaoling hummed, revealing her little tiger teeth, intending to laugh but holding back.
She thought, Bai Ling must be tired today too. After all, Bai Ling lacks ball skills, playing might’ve been difficult for her too. We should be more lenient.
Not daring to say it outright, but Yuan Xiaoling had already planned to share her “battle results” with her two roommates in the dorm QQ group once it was over.
This isn’t boasting!
In those short few minutes, countless thoughts flashed through Yuan Xiaoling’s mind, mainly because there was no intense stimulation, leaving her with ample energy to indulge in random thoughts.
Bai Ling showed no signs of vigorous movement from the start. From Yuan Xiaoling mysteriously calming down in her arms, to speaking her mind and provoking her, to now showing various cute yet mischievous expressions on her face.
She remained calm and silent throughout, moving slowly and steadily, almost uniformly…
Yuan Xiaoling gradually sensed something was off.
“Bai… Bai Ling, can you speed up? I have things to do.”
The blonde girl tentatively asked.
Bai Ling blinked, her expression still calm, showing no emotion.
“Sure, if you want to play your phone, just go ahead. As long as you can multitask.”
“…Okay.”
Yuan Xiaoling lightly grabbed her phone but had little interest in gaming. She wasn’t really that eager to play; she just wanted Bai Ling to hurry up and finish sooner.
Though slow now, it felt endless, making her uneasy.
Tide has both ebb and flow, rising and falling makes a tide. If it only rises and never falls, the sea would be sucked up to the moon.
Time passed bit by bit. The daily tasks in the mobile game were done, along with the limited-time events. Two full hours went by, and the slow steady rhythm continued.
Yuan Xiaoling was struggling to hold on.
“Hmm hmm~ Are we… hmm~~ going back to school tomorrow?”
She tried to subtly hint that it was about time to stop. Don’t go for eight hours like the first time, missing too many classes isn’t good.
Bai Ling said nothing, just lifting Yuan Xiaoling’s waist to let her lie on top of her, freeing her hands to grab the phone and show Yuan Xiaoling.
Tomorrow is Saturday.
