Chapter 92 Slaughter
The moment Isaac’s words fell, I stood up from the beast’s back, holding the reins with one hand and placing one foot on the saddle. I looked up and spotted a less crowded spot on the rampart, then pushed off hard with my legs.
Neigh—
The giant beast below me neighed loudly, sliding forward but continuing to run. I leaped over three meters high, and just as I began to descend, an ice platform formed under my feet. I stepped on the ice platform and leaped again, landing on top of the wall with a whoosh.
“Aaaah—”
Two people rushed towards me from the left, their faces fierce and almost naked, with raging flames burning on their skin. They looked like bloodied fiends.
“Disgusting.”
I frowned and swung a straight punch at the approaching heretics, sending out a wind laden with frost. The flames on the two heretics’ bodies were instantly extinguished. They ran a few more steps before freezing in place under my gaze—legs, arms, chest, and heads all covered in frost. Their naked bodies froze solid and shattered with a bang, falling apart.
The atmosphere on the rampart froze.
“…Iris cloak! It’s a Papal Knight—”
“What are we afraid of? We are believers of the True God! The power granted by the true god is invincible! We are immortal!”
“Attack, kill her!”
“Burn the church’s minions!”
The heretics shouted and charged towards me after a brief moment of shock.
In the next moment, dazzling blue light burst from my eyes.
“Get away!”
Ice magic whirled, and white frost mist exploded beneath my feet. The entire twenty-meter section of the rampart was enveloped in extreme cold, freezing the charging heretics in place. Flames extinguished one by one, and their bodies turned into ice statues. No one could reach me.
I took the opportunity to retrieve the leather box from my back, opened the clasp, and took out Captain Gray. I placed the box back on my back.
Click-click-click—
Clang!
I gripped the hilt of the black blade with my right hand and swung it down, forming a huge scythe instantly.
I stood amidst the dissipating fog, looking around.
On the towering rampart, two or thirty lifelike ice sculptures remained in various poses—some standing, some fallen, others shattered. Clearly, they were dead.
Further away, the heretics not covered by the ice mist looked panicked. Some held swords, while others had no weapons at all. They stared at me with wide eyes, filled with terror and panic.
Unlike those who had charged earlier, the remaining heretics were mostly ragged, their clothes resembling the style of Silgaya, though dirty and tattered. Their chests and arms were emaciated, and even though they hadn’t entered the ice mist range, the rapidly cooling air froze their teeth and eyebrows, yet flames burned in their palms.
One of them shouted, pointing at me: “She… she is that famous Sylvieja!”
“It won’t work… we’ll die here. Run quickly—”
Run?
Crack!
With the short ice scythe in my left hand, I swung at the fleeing heretics, sharp ice spikes rising sharply and covering a large area of the rampart. One-meter-long ice spikes pierced through the heretics who had dropped their weapons and were running away.
“Aaah—”
They screamed and struggled, their flames extinguished, and their bodies froze before any blood could flow.
The frigid air wrapped around me, and the temperature continued to drop sharply.
On the other side of the wall, the massive Isaac moved like a golden sun, his steel fists swinging rapidly, the punches roaring as he chased the heretics fleeing along the high wall. He was like a truck crashing through obstacles, leaving no room for resistance; those he approached were sent flying high into the air with distorted bodies, plummeting from the wall with blood spraying everywhere.
Below the high wall, the knights riding beasts rushed through the destroyed gate, charging towards the vast square in the center of the castle. Many heretics there resisted, flames raging, burning on the knights’ shields, causing only slight ripples. The knights fought with spears, their iron hooves crushing into the crowd, stirring up waves of blood. Screams echoed incessantly. The heretics guarding the square scattered like birds and beasts, fleeing in panic.
“Lord Wesemil—” someone cried out desperately from atop the wall, “Save us, save us!”
“He has already abandoned us and fled alone!”
“It’s over, we’re all doomed…”
“Why are the church knights here? Why—”
I leaped and landed on the empty lookout tower at the top of the fortress, holding the scythe and frowning deeply.
Something’s wrong…
Whoosh—
An arrow shot towards me, and I dodged by turning my head. Following the line of sight, I saw a heretic hiding behind the wall, holding a crossbow, reloading another arrow. I shot an ice spear at him, piercing his chest. He screamed and stumbled backward, accidentally falling off the wall.
Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh—
Then, more arrows flew at me from all directions.
Hmph…
I raised my hand, releasing blue light. A fierce storm of extreme cold formed around me, creating an astonishing tornado. Countless incoming arrows were frozen and swept upward, deviating from their paths. Two arrows broke through the wind and struck the light shield, bouncing off with a buzzing sound.
Many were hiding…
The tornado dissipated, and I raised my right hand above my head.
Click-click-click-click—
Dozens of sharp ice spears rapidly condensed above me. In the next moment, I swung my arm, and the ice spears flew in all directions, piercing through the stone walls and into the fortresses, exploding with a bang.
The intense cold fog spread from all corners of the barrier. Someone screamed and fled from a corner, their body pierced with ice crystal shards. Soon, they were frozen silent and collapsed in the frost mist.
“Hahahaha—”
Isaac’s distant mad laughter roared in my ears. I instinctively looked over and saw on the wallhead nearly a hundred meters away, apart from a few distorted, unrecognizable corpses, the entire area was almost completely cleared by that wild bull in a short time. Countless heretics flew off the high walls, onto the towers, crashing through the eaves, leaving only two legs outside, twitching incessantly.
On my side, the few remaining heretics had already escaped down the barrier, running around in panic.
“Little one! Come with me to the inner castle—”
Boom!
Isaac, wrapped in golden light, leaped high from the wallhead, like a cannonball smashing towards the square. In mid-air, a man’s voice like a rumbling thunder boomed, “Honorable knights! Kill everyone who sees the one with the blazing fire, leave no survivors!”
Boom!
A huge bald head landed on the ground, smashing an attacking heretic into mincemeat beneath him. Then, his figure did not stop, transforming into a streak of golden light, charging at the knightly order that had just cleared the square.
“Isaac!”
Ice pillars suddenly rose underfoot, lifting me into the air. Stepping on the ice platform, I dashed forward using my moonwalk, my petite body rapidly flashing in the air, chasing after Isaac’s head. Palm spraying frost mist to reduce the impact, I landed beside the bald head.
“Something feels wrong!” I shouted to him.
“What’s wrong? I’ll explain once I’m settled!”
He flexed his wrists and neck, quickening his pace, knocking aside a heretic wrapped in flames. Another weak-looking man rushed at him, skin glowing with flames, body rapidly expanding.
“Be careful—”
Rumble!
An intense explosion churned before my eyes. The fiery blaze carried with it debris, rushing towards me quickly. Just as the impact reached me, my eyes glowed slightly blue, and a thick ice wall burst out of the ground, blocking the scorching heat.
Damn heretics, playing their self-destruct tricks again…
“Baldhead!”
Although I knew he would be fine, I couldn’t help but worry, calling out through the ice wall.
Boom! Boom! Boom—
The sounds of explosions continued from the direction of the square, accompanied by the hooves and roars of beasts, the clashing of weapons, the crumbling of stones, and people shouting desperately. Under the dark rain curtain, the chaotic noise was a mess. In the firelight ahead, thick black smoke slowly rose into the sky, even the air felt agitated.
I stood on the ice wall using my moonwalk.
“Stinking rat—”
Isaac burst out from the dissipating smoke, holding a head in his hand, which he threw forcefully at the person ahead, knocking them down. His massive body followed closely behind, like a golden meteor, crashing directly into the still-resisting heretics. His sword, carrying a golden light, slashed down, blood spurting out, some being cut in half.
“Surrender, we surrender—”
Men raised their hands and knelt down in the square, shouting with trembling, hoarse voices.
“Spare us, sir knight! We are not heretics, spare us—”
“I am a citizen of Silgaya, a disciple of our church! Sir! We were forced by demons—”
“I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die—”
More people dropped their weapons and knelt down, the fires on their bodies extinguished by the rain, revealing ragged, emaciated limbs.
But the next moment, those kneeling were cut down by their companions or had their heads crushed by heretics’ flaming hands, unable to even scream, collapsing lifelessly in the rain.
“Do not forget what you have done!” the killer yelled, his voice hoarse and frenzied, “You are now believers of the God of Truth. The church will no longer tolerate you! There is no turning back! Kill these false knights in front of you! Hahahaha—”
Whoosh—
I swung an ice spear, hitting him squarely between the eyebrows, ice piercing through the back of his skull. His hoarse laughter abruptly stopped, and the heretic fell down, convulsing before going silent.
In the blood-soaked castle, the chaos continued. The knights scattered from the square, using their near-absolute advantage to hunt down the fleeing heretics. They used their spears to lift the bodies of their enemies and throw them down heavily, more heretics falling into the blood. The knights then aimed for their heads, stabbing them repeatedly until the fires on their bodies went out.
“Die, knight—”
I ran to the square using my moonwalk, kicking aside a heretic blocking my way. Suddenly, someone lunged from the side. I turned my head and saw a face burning with flames, terrifying and grotesque.
The heretic raised his hand, a fierce blaze erupting from his palm, rushing towards me.
I did not dodge but charged straight through the flames. My right hand flashed with a cold glow as Captain Gray swept across, slicing off the heretic’s head. However, the headless body, driven by momentum, continued to lunge at me, colliding with the light shield with a “bang,” its body rapidly expanding.
Damn it…
Boom—
As the flames exploded, I instantly retreated over ten meters using my moonwalk, dodging the blast. Scorching winds hit me, the outer layer of my shield shattered, fading into faint light.
Damn.
Boom!
Ice pillars rose again underfoot. I jumped onto the fountain statue in the center of the square and shouted loudly, “Citizens of Silgaya! Drop your weapons, surrender, and you will be spared!”
“They are not noble knights; they are just a bunch of hypocritical executioners! Kill them, Mr. J will reward you with food, women, and even greater power—”
“Kill them—”
The chaotic roars drowned out my weak voice. The next moment, a sharp wind blew from afar.
