Chapter 455: Bar in the City

In a station in the capital of Clancia, a caravan was preparing to depart.

After weeks of preparation, Lolan Hill’s new trade caravan was finally complete. Some members were from the steel sun knight order of the rabbit-eared race, while others were young officials from Clancia.

They were selected from various departments, around 20 years old, and would serve as clerks to assist the sage in examining different regions, documenting territorial information and development along the way.

The members from the rabbit-eared race were all drawn from the elite steel sun knight order, comprising mainly young officers.

The combination of civil and military personnel made this seemingly ordinary caravan actually a gathering of elites.

Before departure, they gathered in a courtyard within the city. Beside 16 carriages, more than 60 people stood in the center, all wearing white cloaks.

On a high platform at the front of the formation stood a rabbit-eared girl in light clothing of white and pink. She was giving instructions to the members below.

“Firstly, during your time as part of the caravan, always remember your assigned identity and do not reveal it.”

“Secondly, do not suddenly act out of character or do anything strange. Ensure your actions align with your persona. If you have any ideas, discuss them privately first.”

“Thirdly…”

As she continued explaining important points, she nodded in satisfaction as she saw everyone becoming familiar and accustomed to each other. Then, with a light step, she jumped down from the platform and approached a girl under an umbrella.

“How does it look, Your Highness?”

“This sentence is wrong, Mira,” the girl blinked and smiled.

“Oh, right, right. What do you think, Lady Lacy?”

“Mm, very good.” The blonde girl nodded, her light blue headband swaying with her movements.

“Madam, are we setting off today?” asked a single-tailed maid standing beside her.

“Yes, we are leaving today. We can’t delay any longer, Palinsa,” the girl nodded.

“Wishing you a safe journey, Sage Madam.”

“Thank you. See you next time, Palinsa.” She then boarded one of the carriages, and as the caravan started moving, they headed towards the street and then northward toward the capital.

This lady named Lacy, naturally, was Lolan Hill. Now, she played the role of the daughter of a small trading company called Lagatis, which primarily dealt in confectionery, with side businesses in fruits, spices, wheat, etc.

The company’s emblem featured a golden apple and three square sugar blocks in red, blue, and green respectively, giving it a rather fairy-tale-like appearance.

The name Lagatis came from the deceased candy witch. After obtaining Lagatis’ diary and the golden apple, Lolan Hill had inherited most of the candy witch’s legacy. While mourning her, she also wanted to commemorate her through this name.

After the caravan set off, they initially crossed the prosperous central province, slowing down as they approached the northern provinces to start making transactions.

Lolan Hill sat in the carriage, watching the scenery outside. The endless green plains undulated like gentle waves. Square green fields stretched across the land, crops swaying gently in the breeze, displaying the fresh buds and leaves of spring.

“Where are we now?”

“We’re in one of the three counties of the Wind Province, Whitewood County. Further ahead should be the county seat, Evet City,” replied the maid respectfully.

“Have you been here before?” Lolan Hill turned her head and asked curiously.

“Mm-hm, my uncle used to be the governor of Evet City,” the maid answered cautiously.

Well, it seems these maids come from respectable backgrounds. Having someone who knows the area will certainly make things easier. Lolan Hill shook her head, her golden hair fluttering in the breeze, bringing a chill.

It was late February, and winter had not yet fully ended. The weather was still cold, but fortunately, there was a small stove in the carriage that kept it warm.

By the time they entered the city gates, it was already evening. After checking the cargo and passengers, the entire caravan entered the city.

After a brief walk, they found a large inn to stay in. It was close to the market within the city, even bustling at night.

Since the establishment of Clancia, domestic security had greatly improved. Even at night, people could safely go out to relax, boosting the city’s economy.

Near the market, there was a bar.

Some people, after work or finishing their tasks, drank cheap ale here, boasting and chatting about recent events. Most were men, wearing leather vests and simple long-sleeved trousers. A few women were either local workers or female adventurers carrying weapons.

The profession of adventurer has existed in the Ivar world for a long time. They mostly help deal with weaker demonic beasts or are hired as guards. Occasionally, some elites participate in exploring ruins. Overall, their strength is not particularly strong.

Generally, it is a transitional career for Extraordinary Beings. Once they reach Sequence 5, they naturally join better organizations or institutions, no longer needing to endure harsh conditions or take unstable commissions.

“Madam, are you really coming here?” A rabbit-eared girl followed a blonde huntress into the bar, and as the door opened, a cold wind rushed in, causing everyone inside to turn and look.

This blonde huntress looked very young, her hands smooth and uncalloused, clearly from a well-off family.

The fur-lined collar and fine fabric indicated that her clothes were meticulously crafted, obviously expensive.

She must be some noble lady out for fun, the people in the bar thought to themselves. Tsk, if it were in the past, such naive ladies would easily fall for scams and suffer. But now, in the Clancia era, even if they were deceived, the judicial department of the country would be more than willing to handle such cases.

The people in the bar watched for a while, then turned back to their drinks and conversations, no longer paying attention to the lady.

Is this what a typical bar in a Clancia city looks like?

Even though she was called a sage, Lolan Hill’s psychological age wasn’t very mature. Plus, influenced by fantasy novels and stories from her previous life, she naturally had a curiosity about bars, places where adventurers and heroes gather. Today, she had specially come to check it out.

Her appearance, altered by Tides’ pendant, had become quite ordinary. Combined with the change in hair color, it was unlikely that anyone would recognize her as the star witch of Clancia.

After Lolan Hill and Mira settled in, a bartender approached and asked:

“What can I get for you, miss?”
