Chapter 182: A Testimony Before the Final Battle
At the edge of the distant wall, a black shadow flashed by. Seeing the commotion among everyone sparked by her taunts, the Dark Pretty Cure could not help but clench her fists, causing a creaking sound.
Not only my father and mother, you have so many sincere friends. Compared to that, all I seek is Dr. Shabak’s and Ash’s love.
Having gained so much already, you still feel unsatisfied, wanting to take away even my last refuge?
Unforgivable… Unforgivable… This is too much…
Remembering how she once drove Lily to the brink, defeated her until the Heart Seed shattered and she was unable to transform, with her partner also being killed while fighting against her, the Dark Pretty Cure sneered bitterly.
Is there some sort of karma at play here?
“Excessively similar people repel each other… Indeed, there can only be one between you and me – it is destined.”
“Ash, the story you told me… You said that the dark warrior, who died in battle with heroes, lived and died meaninglessly, leaving no trace of having ever existed. It is not the way to go.”
The sneer on the Dark Pretty Cure’s face slowly transformed into a melancholic smile.
Perhaps this choice, opposite to your expectations, truly disappoints you.
“But for me, as long as Dr. Shabak still remembers me, it is enough to give me meaning.”
So I must defeat Tsukikage Lily! By defeating her, I can move from darkness to light!
To become the sole absolute existence, I can become the true me!
And there, I will finally find a place to rest beside you, watching the same scenery.
On the other side, after learning of Dark Pretty Cure’s challenge from Tsukikage Lily, an uproar immediately broke out among the several Pretty Cures. After intense discussions, a few of them, including the Fairies, reached a consensus.
“No, we can’t go. This is definitely a trap!” Wuki declared decisively. Although she trusted Ash and Timons, she did not hold a good opinion toward the Desert Apostle, especially Dark Pretty Cure, who had made her feel repulsed. She always dealt harshly with any enemies.
“Said just right!” Erika added. She had seen with her own eyes when Tsukikage Lily helped shield others behind the Heart Tree, and witnessed her defeating Cifrey and Caffrey with tears in their eyes. “This time, it will be a trap set by the Desert Apostle, aiming to thoroughly defeat Tsukikage Lily. We cannot trust bad people.”
Certainly, this was a difficult decision for Tsukikage Lily herself. In previous scenarios, she would need to use all her strength to destroy her, but now knowing the ties between them, she faced the painful dilemma.
The noisy surroundings felt like birds chirping from tree branches. Lily closed her eyes and ultimately made her own decision.
“No, I have to go.”
Lily’s resolute words fell silent the room, and as her eyes reopened, they were full of determination.
“My side has no place for her… From the beginning, there has always been a battle between us. I feel this was destined!”
Others wanted to say something, but seeing Tsukikage Lily’s firm gaze, they held back.
“At least let us go together…”
“She said, it’s just us two.”
Erika stopped speaking as she saw the gloomy look in Lily’s eyes, though it didn’t change their indirect strategy.
After a moment of silence, they all agreed to her wish.
“Then let’s go!”
Without further hesitation, they showed trust in Tsukikage Lily’s judgment through their eyes.
They chose to support her quest.
“You have our vow to protect Earth and everyone’s Heart Flowers in your absence!”
A little less shy, Lei withdrew to the front of Tsukikage Lily, gently gripping her hand, wishing to share her courage.
“If what you say about fate is true between the two of you,”
With a warm smile like sunshine, Wuki stretched her hand forward.
“Then everything else apart from destiny, we shall bear for you!”
Erika followed suit, putting her hand over theirs.
“We’ve always been waiting for you!”
“Thank you, everyone!”
Removing her transformation device from her pocket, Tsukikage Lily moved forward without hesitation.
This is the time to fight with all my heart, then… surely, I’ll return safely.
She opened the door to Erika’s clothing store to find a loud screech of tires approaching.
“Ash?!”
Taking down the arms that blocked the dust, she cried out surprisedly. Clearly, seeing Ash riding on his motorbike before her was unexpected.
Before she could interrogate, a sound of a helmet being thrown onto her startled her.
“Get on,” Ash pointed to his empty seat behind him.
Without fussing, Tsukikage Lily put on the helmet, hopped on, wrapped her arms around the man’s waist, pressing closely to Ash’s back.
She thought she could just stand far behind and watch him; such closeness was new to her.
The motorbike’s futuristic roar echoed as they sped away under Knight’s control. The bike snaked seamlessly through traffic, speeding toward a small island outside the city.
“Which side are you on, Ash?”
“My side?” He chuckled cynically. “I guess I might end up burying both of us. Don’t make me do that, understand?”
“I know. I’ll win!”
“That’s not… Oh well.”
“Ash—”
Calling his name again stirred her complex emotions. Feeling the heat from Ash’s back, she tightened her grip, finally saying,
“If it’s really going as you predicted…”
“Then, I want you to let [Lily] decide her own outcome.”
“Please, don’t interfere—”
Ash remained silent, twisting the throttle harder, making the vehicle roar louder.
