Chapter 42: Triple Attack Surprise

Chapter 42: Triple Attack Surprise

The Dragon Beast was currently being hit repeatedly by Sam, leaving it slightly dazed and staggering.

It had taken too much damage.

To the Dragon Beast, Sam and the nearby Orcs were just swaying figures.

The breath of the dragon it unleashed had little hope of hitting Sam under these conditions.

However, the Dragon Beast still refused to fall, holding on fiercely.

“Roar!”

Sam looked at the resolute Dragon Beast and let out a mighty roar.

Then, his tall and powerful body leapt high, soaring above the Dragon Beast’s head.

Finally, with all his falling momentum, he swung his spiked club down fiercely onto the Dragon Beast’s head.

With a loud bang, the spikes of Sam’s club deeply embedded into the Dragon Beast’s thick skull.

The intense pain made the Dragon Beast thrash wildly, and it let out a fierce roar: “Roar—!”

This did not throw Sam off.

Slowly, the Dragon Beast’s struggles began to weaken, clearly on the brink of death.

Gripping the spiked club firmly, Sam balanced himself and used his feet to push off the Dragon Beast’s head, landing steadily on the ground.

He casually pulled the club out, taking a large chunk of scales with it.

After landing, he gazed at the swaying Dragon Beast.

Its condition suggested it would lose consciousness at any moment.

Yet Sam did not deliver a finishing blow.

One, he was genuinely out of breath; he needed a moment to recover from that last strike.

Two, he was confident that his earlier hit had done the job. The Dragon Beast was merely holding on by a thread, and it would naturally fall soon enough without needing another hit.

Just as Sam was easing up, a large figure cloaked in a hood charged at him from behind.

This figure was none other than Axi.

When Sam had leaped up for that final blow on the Dragon Beast, Axi sensed his opportunity had come.

Without hesitation, he charged forward to execute a surprise attack on Sam.

The presence of the Magic Cloak had kept the Orcs oblivious to him up until this point.

Thus, he had great confidence in his success.

Moreover, Airael was there to assist him.

Airael, from their previous hiding spot, watched Axi sprinting out, her heart racing.

Though she had cast Potential Activation on Axi to enhance his abilities, if that Orc reacted in time and noticed Axi…

Axi would find himself surrounded by Sam and his Orc squad.

And she too would be in a certain amount of danger.

Without the Magic Cloak to conceal her, the Orcs would quickly spot her.

Axi, you have to succeed!

Airael fervently prayed in her heart.

Despite the Magic Cloak’s ability to keep the Orcs from noticing Axi, Sam still sensed something amiss.

Suddenly, he felt a powerful gust of wind behind him.

This made Sam uneasy.

Instinctively, he lowered his head and attempted to roll forward to evade.

But Axi’s sword strike was faster, leaving a long, bloody gash across his back.

The intense pain made Sam take a sharp breath as he rolled away.

Yet before he even had a chance to discern who had attacked him, Axi was already launching his next assault.

Sam could only dodge once more.

But again, he didn’t escape unscathed.

His body hadn’t fully recovered, and the previous injury severely affected his capabilities.

Meanwhile, Axi had a complete advantage.

He had been in a coiled, ready state, and with Airael’s Potential Activation boosting his powers, there was no way he would waste this opportunity.

Axi’s sword sliced into Sam’s upper thigh, narrowly missing his vital areas.

Having failed to take Sam’s life with the first two strikes, Axi gritted his teeth and went for a third attack.

His previous two strikes had been all-out efforts, and launching a third attack required overcoming the inertia and stiffness from those blows.

Now, attempting a third strike was indeed a challenge.

Yet he had to push through!

At this moment, Sam stood helplessly against Axi’s next attack.

With his body rigid and the wound in his thigh severely hampering his movements, he could only watch as Axi charged at him, unable to react at all.

In that moment, staring at the approaching blade, Sam’s pupils widened in disbelief.

He hadn’t even registered what was happening.

Where did this suddenly formidable figure come from?

Why hadn’t they noticed his approach?

Were those Riding Wolves blind?

Yet these questions would go unanswered.

In the next instant, Axi’s sword severed Sam’s throat.

Instantly, green blood spurted from the wound.

Finally, Axi succeeded, a smirk forming at the corner of his mouth.

Around them, the Orcs stared in confusion and fear at the “sudden” demise of their commander.

Watching everything unfold, Airael smiled.

Honestly, she had been so tense during Axi’s first two missed attempts.

Fortunately, he had succeeded with the third!

At that moment, the massive Dragon Beast also collapsed.

It seemed to find peace in seeing Sam dead, finally allowing itself to fall without any resistance.

Even though Sam hadn’t killed it, but rather Axi had claimed the victory.

However, at this point, the Dragon Beast had no choice but to accept its fate.

The fall of the Dragon Beast didn’t ease the tension for the surrounding Orcs.

Because this newly appeared mysterious enemy was even more powerful, and therefore more dangerous.

They carefully watched Axi, cloaked in his Magic Cloak, especially that bloodied sword of his.

Drops of green blood dripped steadily from the blade.

This was all the blood of their commander.

For the moment, Axi paid no attention to them.

He was focused on adjusting his body.

He had truly overexerted himself earlier.

Fortunately, the Orcs were too afraid to approach, or else he would’ve made a fool of himself.

But in his current state, he indeed exuded an air of superiority.

As if he looked down upon all the Orcs around him.
