Chapter 42

A wild boar crashed into a building that had no people in it. As the wooden walls broke and pillars flew off, the building collapsed. The roof came crashing down, creating a cloud of dust.

Even though the building crumbled and a great noise echoed, the gigantic wild boar emerged unscathed through the dust cloud. It then stopped as the self-defense corps aimed their spears at it in terror.

“Whoa!”

A red wild boar the size of a house!

“What’s wrong with that guy?!”

Pastel trembled, clutching her sword tightly.

The wild boar glared at the self-defense corps with complete excitement, as if someone had riled it up. Its rough breath pushed aside the dusty air.

“It looks like it’s seeking revenge?!”

“Someone on a horse must have led it here while fleeing! It seems that person has riled it up!”

The captain of the self-defense corps lit a new torch with a stick wrapped in oil cloth and shouted.

Pastel’s mouth dropped open.

“Wait?! Is there really such a bad person?!”

What on earth could be their intention?

“We need to drive that thing away first! Hold up the torches!”

The drizzle had long since stopped. The torches were quickly made.

The torch-bearing people cautiously approached the wild boar alongside the spearmen of the self-defense corps. The wild boar flinched inappropriately for its size.

“Wait.”

They’re trying to drive away a wild animal!

After all, taking on a beast as big as a house is not a good choice. It was easily three times Pastel’s height.

“Me, give me a torch too!”

Despite shaking, Pastel mustered up her courage and received a torch. She forced her legs to move forward to the front line.

She held the torch up to the wild boar. The wild boar snorted roughly, glaring at Pastel. Pink shapes filled its eyes. The red torch held by the girl started trembling more and more.

“Sh-shake!”

“Whoa!”

“Mr. Wild Boar!”

“Let’s make peace!”

“You don’t want to be turned into a roasted whole pig either!”

As if hearing her desperate plea, the wild boar took a step back. As its giant form was pushed back, the people’s fear began to fade away.

“Slowly forward!”

The captain of the self-defense corps commanded. People started to push closer. The formation of spear tips and torches made the enormous beast take a step back.

The pink girl at the front vigorously waved the torch.

“You don’t want to be roasted whole!”

The response from the villagers who lived outside the unprotected castle wall was remarkably effective. The wild boar was pushed back near the village fence.

The dense wooden fence protecting the village completely collapsed after the earlier commotion, but this was actually utilized as a spacious exit to drive the beast outside.

“A little more! Don’t let your guard down! We can drive it out!”

The captain of the self-defense corps adjusted the formation.

“That’s right! That’s right!”

The pink girl waved her torch, maintaining the front line.

The wild boar snorted. As it stepped back, it stepped on a log from the fence and stopped retreating.

Then it let out a terrifying roar and shook its body. The sight of its arm-thick red fur swaying felt like the roar of flames. It was a rough appearance that seemed to fear neither fire nor death.

The people who had risen in spirit became rigid.

“Whoa!”

The pink girl trembled.

The torch shook, shaking.

“I had roasted whole pig yesterday!”

“I’m your cousin!”

“It’s true!”

The standoff continued. Cold sweat flowed down the faces of the people, and fear gradually spread. In the moment that someone moved, the tense silence felt like it would break. Everyone had stiffened, aware of the future.

Suddenly, from beyond the fence, a group of horsemen rushed toward the village. They were clad in black masks and savage attire.

“It’s a band of robbers!”

In an instant, the band of robbers leaped over the broken fence and entered the village with ease. They leisurely circled around the wild boar and the self-defense corps.

“Good bait!”

The bandit chief sneered and threw a pouch. The pouch hit the self-defense formation. A powder of unknown origin burst out. People began to cough painfully, and the formation fell into disarray.

“You bastards…!”

The wild boar roared with excitement as it caught the scent of the powder.

The bandit chief drew his sword.

“I’ll kill the coward who runs first! Sacrifice yourself bravely for your family! We’ll take good care of your family that you protect!”

The band of robbers burst into laughter. The captain of the self-defense corps fumed and cursed. The people fell into panic, and the self-defense formation was completely shattered.

The wild boar shook its body and lowered its head as it charged. Its legs were ready to kick the ground.

In the next moment, the pink girl sprang forward. She dashed outside the self-defense formation, seemingly trying to lure the beast towards the fence. The boar’s eyes followed the vivid pink.

With the giant charging ahead.

Pastel rushed toward the high wooden fence. As she got close, she climbed up as if wall-running. Her body, racing vertically, was suddenly halted by gravity.

The girl crashed into the fence. Her body flipped and flew horizontally. The beast that had followed her brushed beneath her. It collided with the fence. A shockwave occurred. The logs shattered, scattering everywhere.

The girl turned a full circle and landed on the ground. A knife emerged from her grasp.

With a gesture, silver surged through the air. The beast shook off the log debris, turning to look. In an instant, the knife pierced the beast’s eye. It penetrated through its body and reached its brain.

The girl waved her hand. The knife spun and created a whirlwind. The beast let out a roar. Its massive body swayed.

As she reached out, the knife moved backward. The silver trajectory cut through the air, passing through its body. It reached the girl’s hand as if in reverse. As she sliced through the air, the red debris flew.

The girl pivoted her body. The self-defense corps and the bandits looked on in stunned silence.

The pink eyes coldly stared at the bandits.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

The giant collapsed behind the girl. A loud noise erupted. A gust of dust swirled, rustling her clothes.

The bandit chief hiccupped.

Demon Lord Pastel!

“Of course it’s a natural outcome!”

Ahem.

Having finished her shower, Pastel strutted confidently. Unlike her previous state of having slaughtered fleeing robbers and being covered in blood, she looked immaculate.

The innkeeper girl’s eyes sparkled in amazement.

“You killed a wild boar of that size in one go?!”

“That’s right! That’s right!”

Ahem.

“The smart me knew this would happen from the very beginning! The moment I heard that a wild boar had attacked, I planned without an ounce of fear!”

“Wow!”

The innkeeper girl was in awe.

“If it were me, I would have lost all my strength in my legs the moment I saw it! Or I would have cried while trembling!”

“Trembling?!”

That such a thing was unimaginable.

Pastel declared confidently.

“I wasn’t trembling at all! There’s no fear in Pastel’s life! Instead, I boldly approached while holding the torch and said this!”

She raised her arm as if holding up the torch.

“I’ll turn you into roasted whole pig!”

And pointed at the wild boar being roasted and cut in real time.

“Tada~!”

Roasted wild boar~.

The innkeeper girl was astonished.

“You’re really speaking the truth!”

The villagers listening were also impressed.

An overwhelming response.

Pastel’s head became even stiffer.

Just recognition!

Nothing but a rightful evaluation!

Melissa beside her, looking a bit apologetic, sipped her wine.

“I might have passed on my task.”

“Not at all! Melissa also played her part! You destroyed the robbers’ base and came back!”

“Even though their main force was absent as they were raiding the village.”

“Since you eliminated future troubles, you did your part!”

Pastel sprinkled magic stone powder over the large piece of wild boar meat. Then, using a fork, she poked it and threw the whole piece into her mouth.

Mmm.

Oil smeared around her mouth.

Munch munch.

Juices burst forth.

Pastel’s eyes widened.

What is this rich flavor?

It feels like a pig family is dancing!

Could it be that the roasted wild boar met its cousin roasted pig in my belly?

A moment of family reunion…!

Pastel was overwhelmed with emotion.

She did a good deed today.

“I’m a totally good child.”

Wouldn’t the devil, who takes care of such a child, be happy?

Whoa.

She realized the truth.

She understood her protector’s heart!

No wonder they never got mad even when I carelessly threw my clothes around! Pastel’s clothes felt so happy being picked up!

Pastel felt a sense of pride.

This disciple has understood her master’s feelings.

Oh yeah.

After enjoying the feast, Pastel returned to the inn. It was almost time for the sun to set, so she decided to sleep for the night.

In her personal room, she stretched.

“Ahh!”

So good!

“Demon Lord! Demon Lord! Please call me Pastel, the kind one who understands her protector from now on!”

The magic sword transformed into a devil dressed in a suit. The devil checked the locks on the doors and windows before returning.

“If you develop a habit of waking at dawn, I shall call you that.”

“Whoa!”

Aghast.

“An utterly impossible mission!”

“Give me the knife instead. We have to dispose of the production materials.”

“Ah, yes.”

Pastel obediently handed over the knife.

The devil extracted a black slime from the knife. The magic blended with the essence, floating like jelly beads.

Pastel, with pure eyes, asked.

“How do you extract that?”

Completely innocent.

“You don’t need to know.”

Completely firm.

The devil examined the slime.

“It seems we extracted the essence that the bandits and the wild boar had. While many were killed by the bandits, the overall essence is more weighted towards the wild boar. It doesn’t discriminate against beasts; doesn’t it consider the negative effects on the psyche?”

Lululu.

Pastel feigned disinterest as she looked out the window. The sight of the sunset evening was visible.

“Eh? Demon Lord!”

She pointed at the window with her finger.

“Hmm?”

The devil turned his head toward the window.

Pastel hurriedly moved and jumped. With her mouth open like a puppy, she aimed for the airborne slime.

“Wooah-!”

Without even looking, the devil waved his hand. The slime was pushed into his palm. The girl went “nom nom” at the air.

“Eh?”

The taste of air?

“Not a chance.”

The devil casually inspected the window and turned back.

“I’m going to discard this dangerous thing. Don’t even think about eating it.”

Completely resolute!

“What? No way!”

The essence of resurrecting a friend from Mercury…!

“Whoa!”

“Mercury friend!”

“What on earth is that Mercury friend?”

“The friend you killed twice, Demon Lord!”

Pastel staggered, close to tears.

Despair.

Despair!

“Still, no.”

The devil looked at her firmly.

Even more despair.

Pastel swayed vigorously. Then, by mistake, she bumped into the table, staggering.

“Huh?”

“Young Craft?”

As she stepped to regain her balance, her strength gave out, causing her to stumble and slip. The devil reacted, reaching out with both hands.

In that moment, the completely good Pastel’s expression changed. She quickly kicked off the ground and leaped to avoid the devil.

With her mouth wide open.

“Wooah-!”

She snatched the black jelly.

“Nom nom!”

Landing smoothly on the ground, she wiped her mouth.

Pastel looked at the devil triumphantly. The devil, who had been trying to reach out to catch her, was taken aback.

“Younger Craft?”

She raised one arm triumphantly.

“I saved my Mercury friend from the wicked devil!”

This is the kind Pastel!

Oh yeah.
