Extra Case File 40 Rejected
This wasn’t the first time such words were spoken.
After all, the system in my home isn’t like those in other web novels that issue various nonsensical missions. I just need to be involved in battles between heroes and villains, naturally absorb the Dark Echoes, and complete the missions. The rest depends on my mood. Of course, I would also develop some personal interests and hobbies.
At first, I was just like a petty delinquent, opposing both the heroes and villains purely for fun, adding trouble and enjoying the sight of them getting angry. Gradually, however, like a firefly, I became captivated by their emitted radiance. Now, I understand—I am “enamored” with such brilliance, such a “beautiful” person! Other worlds have different warriors; thus, in this world, it must be you!
Indeed, that steadfast determination that has protected the entire world for eight years, always putting others before oneself, risking everything to selflessly help others—a passionate display though infuriating, it equally fascinates me!
That’s why I intentionally spaced out, handling that unwanted voyeur who creeps me out.
“This sounds like a declaration of love,” Wild Flower wasn’t startled as the first time she heard the “loving” words from him. Instead, she remained calm.
That’s normal. After all, she had long become an adult.
“It’s not just like that. As I said, you’ve left me utterly enthralled.”
“Pfft.” Cure Yell burst out laughing. “Pfft-hahaha!”
Damn, hearing him say this so seriously made her want to laugh uncontrollably, making the battlefield feel absurd when a person declares their love. Hence, the urge to laugh irrepressibly overtook her.
Her enemies used to be Final Monsters—monsters composed merely of malice and “violent energy,” simply shouting “It’s over!” while wreaking havoc driven by instinct. They were closer to natural phenomena rather than real monsters.
Then there’s Time Fire, the man Wild Flower couldn’t describe in any terms—her first exchangeable foe, the most unique and distinct individual.
Hence, she feels deeply invested in him.
First, jealousy sparked from him, then the strangest awkwardness, drawing huge laughter. She’d only call this too dramatized, something from a low-quality novel, perhaps?
Honestly, when first attacked inexplicably, anger filled her heart, but now hearing such playful declarations, she felt oddly relieved.
Yet… yes, surely disappointment prevailed more than anything.
“If you maintain this beauty, I will love you eternally.”
“Time Fire.” Cure Yell, looking at Ash深情ly, straightened up and called his name solemnly. “Your pick-up lines are terrible. No girl would ever agree to go out with you.”
She certainly didn’t wish for a disastrous first date like this with him; moreover, she understood the divergence they held about dating.
Well, maybe the difference is akin to the Lagrange point versus the Mariana Trench?
“Yeah, it seems so,” Ash responded, reflecting on past rejections. He noticed he never got any women interested, only men fought back, understanding the context.
Perhaps I wasn’t sincere enough?
“So, maybe you could change my fate?”
“Awaiting your reply…” As Flower continued engaging Ash, her gaze shifted toward someone slowly appearing behind him.
A familiar silhouette, staggering, familiar person approaching with familiar objects.
The person was Hikari Yumi, holding the sword lost by Cure Yell, her steps hesitant yet determined, supported by quivering legs moving amid broken concrete.
Yumi worried deeply for Flower, yet knew a half-crippled person wouldn’t find their target alone. Fortunately, she knew a good Samaritan could help, albeit requiring assistance.
So, saving Cure Yell was her first move, despite being immobilized on a wheelchair. Grabbing the sword on the ground seemed impossible.
If it were just her, doubts might have halted her, but rescuing the desperate Cure Yella spurred her single-minded resolve.
For a goal, unrelated to courage—she rose.
“Precure!”
Behind her, the call also caught Ash’s attention. He hadn’t noticed Yumi, now close-by, suffering deep wounds in her legs.
“Please save this world!” Yumi hoisted the sword with effort and flung it toward Ash and Yell’s struggle. “Also, please help that selfless, foolish girl!”
“Saying such hard demands!” Realizing the miracle, Ash turned swiftly but forgot the resilience of the lady beneath. He missed, their elbows crossed, as the smaller hand seized the holy sword.
Cure Yell caught her sword.
“Yumi…”
Do you think calling me a fool is wrong? For you, for my families, doctors like Ash helping us, I must save the world for them!
And, I, Precure, am no fool!
Flower fixed her gaze then on the nearby crimson warrior, her originally gentle eyes turning deadly serious.
“Asking for my response? My answer is clearly—”
A sword shining with energy of tomorrow struck Time Fire’s chest fiercely.
“No!”
“No!”
