Chapter 4 The Witch of the Butterfly
Recalling the events of the day, the young lady picked up the heritage gem and slowly immersed her consciousness within it. Scenes from ancient times then appeared in her mind.
Creenasha sat benevolently at a small round table, with verdant woods visible through the nearby window. Most of the items in the house were made of wood, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
“Hello, my successor. This is the image I have left behind. I will narrate all that I have learned throughout my life. I do not know if this knowledge will become obsolete after a thousand years, but if you can gain some unique insights and experiences from it, I would be very gratified.”
The image of the witch lingered in the young lady’s mind, as if watching a very realistic movie.
Thus, Lolan Hill lay on a rock, holding the gem, rapidly learning about the world’s knowledge before falling into a deep sleep.

Awakening to the chirping of birds in the morning, Lolan Hill recalled what she had learned the previous day and was astonished to find that the amount of knowledge was absolutely more than what could be absorbed in eight hours. However, she remembered every single detail flawlessly.
In fact, the human brain thinks very quickly; it’s common for a long dream to feel like it lasted much longer, but upon waking, one realizes it only took ten minutes. It’s just that during regular activities, the body restricts the brain’s capabilities.
To put it simply:
Brain: I think I can catch that ball.
Hand: No, you can’t.
Actions are always slower than thoughts.
She picked a few fresh fruits, washed them by the stream, and that became her breakfast.
Creenasha feared that changes in writing over many years might cause misunderstandings, so she first taught the Second Era script, which included not only human common language but also elven, orcish, eastern languages, and even some fragmented ogre languages.
During the era of the Mercury Dynasty, humans united under a single banner, with banners depicting entwined wisteria and crescents fluttering across the land. Various measurements, scripts, and systems were unified. The necromancer academies were established in major cities, making becoming a necromancer sequence member a dream for young people everywhere.
A large number of skeletons were awakened from the dust to perform labor, significantly boosting productivity. More resources were allocated to education, leading to unprecedented development in military, culture, and art.
It was during the establishment of the Mercury Dynasty that control of the world gradually shifted from elves to humans. Humans became the undisputed masters of the Ivar World.
For several days, after finishing her lessons on language, Creenasha began to delve deeply into the Extraordinary Sequences.
“All powers originate from a mysterious energy called Mana. The most basic and direct use of Mana forms the Primal Sequence. All subsequent sequences evolved from this foundation.”
“In ancient times, when giants and dragons ruled, the War Sequence and Dragon Sequence were developed for these powerful races. Deep within the ocean, the Ocean Sequence emerged.”
“Later, the elves ventured out of the World Tree sanctuary, defeated the Giant Kingdom, and became the rulers of the Western Continent. They brought the Nature Sequence to the world, marking the beginning of the First Era.”
“In the year 6124 of the First Era, demons descended, and the Demon Sequence was discovered. This marked humanity’s first rise and the establishment of the Crimson Empire. However, there is much more to tell, which I will do later.”
“In the year 8036 of the First Era, humans discovered the Necromancer Sequence, and the New Moon and Necromancer Mercury Dynasty was established.”
“Afterwards, the Mercury Dynasty engaged in war with the three elven kingdoms, ultimately defeating the Silver Elves in the year 8385 of the First Era and declaring the start of the Second Era.”
“In the year 771 of the Second Era, scholars of the Mercury Dynasty jointly created the Mage Sequence and received extensive support.”
“In the year 1023 of the Second Era, angels descended, and the Angel Sequence appeared before everyone.”
“When I was still alive, there were nine Extraordinary Sequences: Primal Sequence, War Sequence, Dragon Sequence, Ocean Sequence, Elf Sequence, Demon Sequence, Necromancer Sequence, Magic Sequence, and Angel Sequence. Perhaps new Extraordinary Sequences will be created in the future as the world progresses.”
Creenasha continued to describe the unique focuses and characteristics of each of the nine sequences. She told Lolan Hill that she understood the Necromancer Sequence and Magic Sequence the best because she was once a powerful necromancer and directly participated in the development of the Magic Sequence.
Creenasha reached the pinnacle of her career as the 9th rank of the Necromancer Sequence, the Soul Ferryman of the Dark Butterfly. This was a legendary role known for its mastery over soul annihilation and dark flames.
However, perhaps due to her profound understanding or perhaps because of the nature of her work, Creenasha advised Lolan Hill to carefully choose whether to pursue the Necromancer Sequence. This sequence was very sorrowful and involved too much darkness, easily leading one down a path of destruction.
Then came the Magic Sequence, which Creenasha and other witches developed in her later years. The stable achievement in this area was the 7th rank of the Magic Sequence, the Devastating Red Lotus. This was a combat-oriented role with terrifying destructive power.
According to research records, after fully forming the core of the 7th rank of the Magic Sequence, the Devastating Red Lotus, one could achieve the feat of destroying an entire city alone.
The unique spells granted by this rank, such as the Meteor of the Red Lotus, could impact and incinerate an area of ten kilometers, turning the ground into glass. Both material and souls could be annihilated. At the time, it was humorously referred to by other witches as a Red Lotus Purifier.
Creenasha detailed the progression route and specific cultivation methods from the 1st rank of the Magic Sequence, Tranquil Starfire, to the 7th rank, Devastating Red Lotus. The records for other ranks were sparse because they were developed by different groups at the time, and Creenasha only knew her own part well.
Moreover, since it was still in development, some designs of Extraordinary Sequences lacked sufficient samples and were far from stable. Creenasha did not want to casually teach her students the results of other groups’ research. She merely recorded a few progression routes for the 3rd rank of the Magic Sequence.
Apart from the extensive records on the Necromancer Sequence and Magic Sequence, there was also the Nature Sequence. Since the Mercury Dynasty fought the three elven kingdoms for many years, their Extraordinary Sequences were specially studied and targeted.
The Nature Sequence, also known as the Elf Sequence, was originally developed by the elves. However, as the elves expanded, it was no longer limited to them. Some demonic beasts and other races also practiced this Extraordinary Sequence. By the end of the First Era, many humans had become high-ranking practitioners of the Elf Sequence, leading to its renaming as the Nature Sequence.
Lolan Hill was particularly interested in one of these: the Nature Sequence 2, the Arborist. This role evolved from the 1st rank, the Verdant Gardener. Unlike other combat roles, this Extraordinary Sequence excelled in cultivation and production.
If one could advance to this Extraordinary profession, food would never be a problem, she thought. Unfortunately, the progression route for the Arborist only went up to rank 2, and what came after was unknown.
Despite this, looking at the moss-covered stone tablet, it seemed that many years had passed. Perhaps there were already practitioners of this route in the world now. She could seek guidance from them then, Lolan Hill consoled herself.
Extraordinary Sequences all had certain combat capabilities, but what she needed most right now was a long-term living environment to improve her basic productivity.
Recalling her past life playing games, Lolan Hill was the type who enjoyed farming for centuries at home and then crushing enemies with technology and military power upon reemerging. In the Civilization series, she always aimed for a late-game victory with tanks and aircraft carriers or achieved a cultural victory.
In Stellaris, she loved giving implants to the populace, achieving mechanical ascension, building ideal cities and Dyson spheres, sweeping the galaxy with arc battleships, and having even heaven bow to her feet. (Of course, she always used mods to beautify her race, as beautiful girls were truly amazing.)
Therefore, farming was the way to go. With a solid economic foundation, one could better build this world.
Finally, Creenasha mentioned her identity as a witch. A witch was not a particular Extraordinary Sequence or title but referred to young women born with special talents. They remained youthful until death due to their lack of aging.
Creenasha was famously known as the Butterfly Witch in history, though she was afraid of insects.
The note under the velvet in the box, after learning the language, Lolan Hill finally understood its meaning.
“Witches attract each other. If you can see this note, it means you are likely a witch yourself.”
