Chapter 395 – Dinner at the Inn

After disembarking from the airship, it was already afternoon. The group decided to find a place to rest before heading out to shop the next day.

After a short search, they finally settled on a small inn, suggested by Lolan Hill.

This place used to be the capital of Viergha, where nobles were always present. The inn was very clean; it was clear that the owner understood the preferences of prominent families. The interior decoration was not overly extravagant, but many areas were neat and clean, giving a comfortable feeling.

The group split up into five rooms, with two people per room. Lolan Hill and Keti shared a room. The girls in the team did not travel often, so this collective trip was filled with novelty and curiosity.

After Lolan Hill and Keti entered their room, they put down their belongings and washed their faces and hands. At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Knock-knock—

“Wait a moment,” Lolan Hill said, fixing her hair in front of the mirror and tying a light blue hairband. She then opened the door.

It was Night Spirit, Bumansa, and the others.

Bumansa: “Let’s go have dinner first, Lolan.”

Lolan Hill: “Mm, I’ll call Keti over. What should we eat tonight?”

Night Spirit: “I heard there are red big crabs here. Want to give it a try?”

“Oh, that? Night Spirit, are you brave enough to eat it?” Alena walked over from the corridor, accompanied by Nia in fresh clothes.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” Night Spirit looked puzzled at Alena.

“In fact, it’s very spicy, and eating it can be a bit troublesome,” Alena recalled, pressing her chin. It seemed she had experienced this before.

“Trying it might not be bad,” Letis came over wearing a light yellow skirt.

“Looks like everyone is here,” Lily counted. “1, 2, 3, 9, just right.”

“This is quite a big outing,” Bumansa smiled and covered her mouth.

“Let’s go downstairs,” Alena led the way, followed closely by Lily. The group descended the stairs of the inn and headed to the hall for dinner.

The walls made of red bricks had a somewhat ancient feel. Dark red wooden tables held vases with a few simple irises.

They chose a spot near the window on the left side of the hall. A large round table seated nine people comfortably. The ceiling of the hall hung several pine oil lamps, casting a bright yellow glow.

The inn wasn’t large, with two big tables and six small ones in the hall. After the girls chatted and sat down, the other seats remained mostly empty, with only a few scattered guests.

A server quickly approached them. He wore a white shirt and brown vest, looking efficient. First, he served hot tea to the young ladies, then asked politely.

“May I ask what the young ladies would like to eat for dinner?”

From their appearance and attire, the server could tell they were wealthy and valued etiquette.

“Is there a detailed menu?” Letis asked somewhat familiarly.

“Yes.” The server took out a clean menu book from his pocket and handed it to Letis.

Upon receiving the menu, Night Spirit and Lily stood up and gathered behind Letis.

“Oh, this ice cream looks good. Does the inn serve this?” Lily asked eagerly.

“Yes, currently we offer three flavors: greenberry, purplefruit, and iceheart melon.”

“Does the inn keep such fresh ingredients?” Alena, from the Southern Isles, naturally knew how easily these fruits could spoil.

“We don’t, but the fruit store owner next door is quite familiar with us. If needed, we can directly get them from there, which is much more convenient.”

“How does the fruit store owner preserve them?” Lolan Hill thought about the extraordinary fruits in her hometown, Tixilin Mountains.

“It used to be tricky, but after merging with Ruerna, we now have easy access to alchemical tools for low-temperature storage,” the server explained.

“I see.” The young lady nodded.

“Are you curious about this, Lolan? Actually, it’s not difficult. We produce this at home,” Letis casually revealed her aristocratic background.

“A bit, but if I figure it out, I might compete with you for business,” Lolan Hill winked.

“Haha, no need to worry about that. The market is still quite large,” Letis thought Lolan Hill would start her own business, but the production capacity wouldn’t be high since she was only one person.

“Order this.” Night Spirit pointed to the red big crab on the menu after flipping through it. The red ink emitted a faint aroma.

“Is this really delicious?” Although Letis was from a wealthy background, she didn’t eat seafood often. Crabs were mainly considered unhygienic.

“Give it a try, but hope it’s clean and well-cooked,” Lolan Hill guessed Letis’ concerns. In her previous life, people long ago didn’t eat crabs, leading to the saying “the first to eat a crab.”

“Young ladies, rest assured. Our restaurant is famous for its cleanliness. This is something we take seriously,” the server guaranteed.

“That works. See if there’s anything else we need,” Letis placed the menu on the table and pushed it forward.

“Let me check.” Bumansa took it.

Keti usually listened to Lolan and didn’t pay much attention to ordering. As long as Lolan fed her, she would eat it.

Vimya remained silent as usual. She didn’t have much ambition and seemed to accept everything. Lily liked sweets, Night Spirit enjoyed new and interesting things, Nia followed the group, Alena was casual, and Letis was a bit particular.

Bumansa ordered some regular dishes according to everyone’s tastes. Lolan Hill had no objections, so the menu was returned to the server.

“Is that all? Do you need any drinks? We offer various juices and wines.”

“Are the juices freshly squeezed from fruits taken from next door?” Alena asked curiously.

“Yes, indeed.”

The server nodded and smiled, “If you’re not sure, you can come with me to choose from next door. They haven’t closed yet.”

“No need, we trust the inn,” Lolan Hill waved slightly. Even without going herself, she could tell if it was true. After all, this was her chosen inn, one of the cleaner and more cost-effective places in town.

Not everyone in the group was as wealthy as Letis, so they had to make selections. Students from Emanas could exchange credits annually for up to ten extraordinary gold coins, which were useful for daily expenses and improving their living conditions. This was a practical benefit for students from humble backgrounds.

To Emanas, this amount wasn’t significant, as they could easily obtain wealth through technology or products within the school. But for students from lower backgrounds, this was quite important.

With this money, they didn’t need to focus too much on earning during their studies, allowing them to concentrate fully on learning. Additionally, having their own money gave them more confidence and composure, preventing their personalities from becoming too distorted.

The rules and policies in the school weren’t established overnight. They were gradually improved through continuous education and management by teachers and sages.
