Chapter 16 What do you usually eat!
When the first ray of morning light seeped through the gauze curtain into the room, I vaguely heard rustling sounds as I half-opened one eye, still feeling drowsy.
The dormitory was still somewhat dim, but Sarah, who had already gotten up, had long changed into her school uniform and was sitting at the dressing table, combing her messy hair.
It’s already morning…
“Mmm… Ugh~”
I stretched my arms and legs straight, enjoying a comfortable yawn.
“You’re awake?”
Hearing the sound, Sarah turned around and whispered to me.
“No…”
I rolled over, pulled the blanket that had been kicked to the side back over me, covered my head, and closed my eyes again.
So sleepy…
We had chatted for a long time after getting into bed last night, not knowing when we finally fell asleep…
“Sarah…? Why… did you get up so early… Haaah~”
Daisy also woke up, her voice sounding sluggish, clearly not fully rested, followed by a yawn.
“I’m sorry, did I disturb you?”
“It’s okay… Mm… Ugh… Sarah, your dark circles are so heavy…”
“I didn’t sleep well last night…”
“Then why are you getting up so early?”
“If I don’t get up soon, there will definitely be a crowd at the entrance, and we won’t see anything.”
“See what…”
“Huh? Daisy, did you forget? The Pope is coming today.”
“Oh… Ah! I forgot!”
Daisy suddenly exclaimed, followed by more rustling sounds in the dormitory as if she too had gotten up.
“Mmm…”
So noisy.
“Hush! Be quiet, Peyelo is still sleeping…”
“I know…”
But my hearing is very sharp; even if you speak softly, I can hear everything clearly… Moreover, the voices outside are starting to get louder, it seems many people have already woken up…
Can’t fall asleep…
Although my mind still feels drowsy, my consciousness gradually becomes clear… Forget it, let’s get up.
I sat up abruptly from the bed, some frustration evident as I ran my hand through my hair.
“Oh, she’s up.”
“Peyelo, are you going to watch too?”
“Not really…”
What’s interesting about Angel? You all go, then the cafeteria will be empty…
I climbed down from the upper bunk, went to the cabinet, and found the school uniform I hadn’t worn in a while, smelled it, and then tilted my head slightly in confusion.
“Sarah, did you wash the school uniform for me?”
It shouldn’t be this clean after being stored for so long, and there’s a fresh scent…
“Daisy washed it, she said she had nothing else to do.”
“Oh, thank you~”
I felt a bit happy, smiling at Daisy who was changing clothes. She returned the smile.
After changing into the uniforms, the three of us took turns washing up. I combed my hair, and Sarah helped me tie it into a bun, then I put on a sun hat and walked over to the mirror to take a look.
In the mirror, the young girl had bright eyes and white teeth, wearing a pure white stand-up collar puffed-sleeve blouse, with a leather corset cinching her small waist, and below was a fluffy sky-blue skirt. Paired with a sun hat with a rustic style, her hair tucked under the hat, the beautiful black bow at the brim swayed gently with each slight movement of her head, adding a playful allure.
I nodded in satisfaction.
As expected of me.
Perfectly cute!
I slapped my cheeks, dispelling the lingering drowsiness, and happily turned around. Then I saw Daisy standing by the bed, struggling with the buttons on her chest.
But she couldn’t do it.
The smile on my face immediately vanished.
“Daisy, are you done yet?” Sarah, who was already dressed, couldn’t help but urge her impatiently.
“Just a moment, just a moment… The uniform is much tighter now, did it shrink or something…”
Daisy became increasingly anxious, her fingers turning pale, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t button it up. The two large, prominent white mounds were squeezed almost bursting out of the lining, nearly blinding me.
Too damn big…
Why?!
“Please, you’re the one who needs to shrink, okay… Hurry up, I’ll help you…”
Sarah leaned over to help Daisy button up. It took them a while to get it right, with the fabric on Daisy’s chest stretched very tight, feeling like the buttons might pop off any second.
“Go downstairs and apply for a larger size…” Sarah said as if sighing, then a mischievous smile appeared on her lips, “Daisy, do you know what those boys call you behind your back?”
“Hmm?”
Daisy clearly didn’t know, making a sound of puzzlement through her nose.
“Cow by the Ceylon Lake.”
“Ah!”
“Hahaha!”
Daisy’s face turned red, and she shyly covered her mouth. Sarah, on the other hand, laughed heartily, poking lightly at Daisy’s soft chest with her finger.
“Let’s go
“Come on, little cow, I’ll take you for a walk~”
“Sara!” Daisy shot Sara a playful glare, lightly stomping her foot, feeling so embarrassed she almost wanted to disappear into the ground, “How can you say that! It’s too uncouth… And those boys, they’re so annoying…”
“But all the girls envy you.”
“Who would envy me? I’m so annoyed… What is there to envy?”
“Look.”
Sara suddenly nudged her head in my direction, her face almost splitting with laughter.
“Look at Paylo, his eyes are fixed on you.”
“You’re the one whose eyes are fixed!” I quickly averted my gaze, huffing angrily as I walked towards the door, “I don’t! Not envious at all…”
“I didn’t say you were envious, why are you so quick to clarify? You just admitted it! Haha~”
“Ptoo ptoo ptoo!”
So annoying!
Frustrated…
Stepping out, I noticed many students rushing down the stairs. Seeing this, Sara got anxious and grabbed my hand and Daisy’s, starting to run.
“Hurry up, we’ll miss the good spots if we’re late!”
“But I don’t want to go…”
I pouted, but Sara held my hand tightly, dragging both of us down the stairs. When we reached the entrance of the tower, instead of hurrying out, she turned around and knocked on the administrator’s door downstairs.
Bang bang bang!
“Professor Melville!” she shouted loudly.
Huh?
Isn’t the administrator an old lady? Why is Sara calling her Professor Melville? He’s not here, right…
Could it be?!
I was startled.
Could it be that the professor and the old lady…
Bang bang bang!
“Professor!”
Sara called again, and then the door opened with a creak. An old man with white hair, still half-asleep, stuck his head out, yawning as he asked, “What do you want…”
Still in his pajamas, Professor Melville glanced at Sara and then saw me standing there with a strange expression, his eyes lighting up.
“Miss, you’re finally back.”
“You?”
On the other side, Daisy, who was still panting, looked puzzled.
“Oh, I mean… Is everything going well?” Professor Melville quickly corrected himself.
“Yes.”
I nodded.
“That’s good, that’s good…”
He gave me a relieved smile, then turned to Sara, “What brings you here?”
Sara immediately pushed Daisy forward, “Professor, her uniform is too small, can we change it for a bigger one?”
“Too small? Oh…” Professor Melville only briefly glanced at Daisy, then understood, “Sure, I’ll write you a request. Go to the teacher’s tower on the first floor to exchange it later.”
“Thank you, Professor~”
Professor Melville turned and went back into the room, soon returning with a slip of paper which he handed to Sara.
“Professor, where’s grandma?” I couldn’t help asking.
“She left.” Professor Melville raised his eyebrows, looking at me in surprise, “She left for the East Continent a few days ago. Now I’m managing the tower by the Ceylon Lake… Didn’t you know?”
Hmm…
East Continent?
Ah!
Suddenly, I remembered seeing a familiar face in the carriage when I was seeing Carlos off.
That was Grandma!
Who exactly is she?
I had also asked Sara and the others before, but they weren’t very clear either. They knew the students were generally afraid of her because she was strict.
After leaving the tower, Sara turned to me and asked, “Paylo, you… really won’t come with us to see?”
“Yeah, I won’t go.”
“But… that’s the Pope…” Daisy looked at me incredulously.
“He’s not tasty.”
“Huh?!”
“Oh, what I meant was… I’m hungry.”
I hadn’t eaten much last night…
There will definitely be fewer people in the cafeteria today. I need to get there first and set out all the good food, then eat my fill!
“Alright. If Paylo isn’t coming, let’s go, Daisy…”
“Alright then.”
Seeing that Sara had said so, Daisy could only nod reluctantly, her little face showing a hint of disappointment.
“Paylo, can you bring us some food?”
“Sure.”
“What about… don’t forget to gather at the training ground later, theology class is there this morning.”
“Okay.”
“We’re off.”
The two girls held hands and ran away along the stone path. Standing in front of the tower, I watched their silhouettes bathed in the morning light, noticing the girl lagging behind whose chest bounced wildly as she ran. Finally unable to hold back, I cupped my hands around my mouth and shouted, “Daisy!”
The girl stopped, holding her chest, turning back in surprise.
“What do you usually like to eat!”
