Chapter Twelve Resolved
“Tsk…”
Order of Water…
But this level might not even qualify as third-rate.
Dense raindrops rapidly approached in my line of sight and reached us in an instant. In the blink of an eye, I pulled Sarah behind me, took a step forward, and my right hand emitted a blue glow.
Crack, crack—
After a few crisp sounds of ice breaking, a thin, azure ice mirror suddenly condensed from the air in front of me, quickly spreading around my body, forming a smooth, curved wall that encircled both Sarah and me. The raindrops hitting the mirror made a series of dull thuds, but they couldn’t cause any damage.
“Yaaah—”
Sarah screamed, clutching her head.
“Sir, run—!”
I heard the guard’s hoarse shout from afar. I pursed my lips, gently waved my arm, and the floating ice mirror began to crack with a “crackle, crackle,” turning into countless ice fragments that fell to the ground. Intense frost mist rose and quickly froze the nearby puddles on the road.
I can’t let Sarah stay here too long, she’ll freeze…
As this thought crossed my mind, my arm was already extended forward, palm open, looking at the figure rising from the broken stall nearby. I tilted my head, thinking for a moment, fearing I might accidentally kill him, so I retracted my arm and snapped my fingers lightly.
Snap.
Whoosh—
A sharp ice spike, as thick as a thumb, formed suddenly above our heads, moving at an almost imperceptible speed, whistling through the air towards the figure. It pierced his thigh and firmly pinned him to the wall behind him.
The figure knelt down in the rain.
Resolved.
I turned back, holding the startled Sarah in my arms. Then, “bang,” an ice column shot up from under our feet, propelling us high into the sky.
“Aaaa! P-Pe-Pe-Pe… Aaaa—!!”
The ascent was quick, and Sarah waved her arms and legs wildly, her tongue hanging out. Her screams were pitiful and shrill. Then, as if by reflex, she clung to my head tightly.
“Sarah… Mmm… I can’t see…”
I was smothered in her embrace, my face pressed against her soft chest, speaking muffledly. I shook my head vigorously, but it was no use; she held me tighter, making it hard to breathe. Then, my body started to fall rapidly. I heard Daisy’s scream below, and I struggled to regain balance. After a moment, when we landed with a “thud,” I felt my feet finally touch the ground. I released Sarah’s waist and pounded her back twice.
“Sarah, let go of me…”
How foolish…
I just wanted to get her away from the frost mist quickly…
“Sarah! Are you okay…”
Ah, Daisy seems to be coming over.
Seeing that Sarah still wouldn’t let go, I got annoyed and started tickling her.
“Hehehe…”
“Hahaha—”
Feeling the pressure on my head ease, I quickly ducked down, pulling my head out of Sarah’s embrace and taking a deep breath.
Ah, the hood…
As black hair spilled down, I hurriedly put the hood back on, covering my head again, feeling a bit more secure.
“Oh! You, you’re…”
Hearing the incredulous voice beside me, I turned around and saw Daisy pointing at me with one hand, covering her mouth with the other. Her pretty phoenix eyes widened, and she looked shocked and amazed.
She saw…
“You are, Peyi—”
“Hush!”
I quickly signaled Daisy to be quiet.
“Don’t say my name here…”
“Oh…”
The girl nodded blankly.
Maybe she was scared and had rushed over, because Daisy’s face looked pale, her breathing was rapid, and her chest heaved with each breath… I glanced at her for two seconds and rolled my eyes involuntarily.
She grew bigger…
Tch, so what?
Anyway, I will grow like that eventually too…
Disdainfully, I shifted my gaze away, meeting the now-focused eyes of Sarah.
“P-”
Her face was pale, her lips trembling, wanting to say something but unsure how to start. Her messy, wet hair
Pressing against her face, that overly frightened look tugged at my heartstrings.
Let them leave first…
“Go. You should leave here first…”
Sarah froze for a moment, then said, “But, what about you—”
“I will return later.”
I gave Shasha a sweet smile, but then I remembered that most of my face was covered by the hood; she might not be able to see my expression… Never mind, I’ll deal with that later. After such an incident, I definitely couldn’t just slip away. I had to go and report the situation to the Arbitration Office first…
I turned around and walked towards the guard.
“Let me go… Ah! Sir Neil!”
At this moment, those green-robed arbitrators finally reacted. Taking advantage of the guard being injured by me, several of them pounced on him, tying his hands with ropes. The guard struggled continuously, his eyes fixed on the direction where Sir Neil had fallen. Blood mixed with rainwater spread beneath him, creating a shocking scene.
As for that person called Neil, he was likely knocked out cold by my kick and lay motionless in the rain.
… He shouldn’t be dead, right?
I already tried to hold back…
With some frustration, I walked over. Those green-robed arbitrators still showed some caution when they saw me, but they eventually understood that I had no ill intentions. The person who seemed to be the leader stood up, ordered his companions to take the prisoner away, and then looked at me.
“Miss… Are you? Thank you for your help. May I ask… Who are you?”
Recently, the city has been strictly monitored, and the pressure on the Arbitration Office must be immense. Suddenly having someone like me appear today, they would certainly need to carefully inquire and clarify my identity before they could report back.
I can’t cause trouble for others…
So I lowered my head and rummaged through my slightly damp bag, pulling out the emblem of the Pope’s Knight and showing it to the leading arbitrator.
Then I saw him widen his eyes: “You’re… the Pope’s Knight…”
“Yes.”
After receiving my confirmation, the leading arbitrator bowed respectfully, lightly striking his right chest with his fist: “Section Five of the Arbitration, Adam Elliott pays his respects to you! Above all gods, you must be Miss Silvijah, right?”
His expression was somewhat agitated, and his voice unconsciously grew louder. The other green-robed arbitrators behind him, who were dragging the raincoat guard to his feet, all turned their heads in astonishment.
Oh…
I didn’t want to admit it, fearing that I would be surrounded again, so I changed the subject and pointed at the guard, asking, “What happened to them?”
“Oh, these two have been leaking our city defense information to Furlesk Castle, allowing the Iron Guard to know the situation of the city’s garrison… Now that it has been exposed, they have been hiding nearby these days, planning to escape the city. We found out…” the leading arbitrator honestly answered.
“Oh, I see…”
I nodded.
It seems my kicks weren’t wasted…
“Thank you for your hard work.”
Hearing this, the leading arbitrator was flattered and quickly waved his hand: “No, no! Compared to what Miss Silvijah did, our actions are insignificant…”
After some pleasantries, I didn’t want to disturb their work any longer. I put away the emblem of the Pope’s Knight, waved goodbye to the arbitrators, and watched as they took the prisoner away. Then I turned to look for my umbrella.
In just a short while, my cloak was already soaked… Fortunately, it’s waterproof, so my dress inside is fine.
I threw the umbrella not far away on the sidewalk. I walked over, picked it up, shook off the water, and opened it again.
After the situation calmed down, the crowd around gradually increased. Many people stared at me with curious and reverent eyes, pointing at the ice fragments emitting cold air on the ground, whispering to each other. I found this annoying and frowned.
Quickly leave…
But just as I took two steps, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t taken the venison pie. So I immediately returned to find the stall. Then I saw Sarah and Daisy still standing in the crowd not far away. Both of them were a bit wet, and Sarah was gently patting Daisy’s back, seemingly comforting her. Seeing me looking over, they hesitantly waved.
Why haven’t they left yet…
