Chapter 386: Chaotic Vortex

Inside the Fortress Academy, a thorough investigation was carried out. Members of the combined associations first examined all students within the fortress, then conducted a comprehensive search around the forest. After these measures, even if there were any escapees, they would be few.

Lolan Hill then transformed into her natural sequence and scanned the entire academy through natural listening. After knowing the whereabouts of the remaining few individuals, she instructed the association members to capture them.

Thus, the Fortress Academy was cleared. The atmosphere slowly returned to its former peaceful state, perhaps even more friendly?

On the other side at the High Tower Academy, Lolan Hill went to meet the newly appointed chief.

The two met at a restaurant. After the competition ended, Jack had already been stripped of his power seed by the silver-haired girl and his state of confusion had been lifted.

The restaurant was located in the middle of the tower. The environment was beautiful, with the backside near the mountain slope shaded by trees, while the front offered a view of the wilderness where the central school building stood.

Sunlight streamed in through the tall open windows, landing on the light greenish-blue tabletop. On the windowsill, several bright red tulips in vases added a touch of elegance.

“Hello,” said Jack, looking at the silver-haired girl before him. He was unsure how to address her; she was certainly younger than him, but calling her a junior didn’t seem appropriate since she was the victor who had defeated him.

They were not familiar, so addressing each other by name seemed impolite. The young man, who usually had little social interaction, simply greeted her and found himself at a loss for words.

However, Lolan Hill did not mind such trivial matters: “Good day, Senior Jack. How have you been recovering?”

After that match, she had removed the power seed from Jack’s body and dispelled the abnormal magic and authority. She had initially thought Jack was misled by Ossuna, but later learned that wasn’t the case. Today, she wanted to understand his situation better.

“I’ve recovered quite well, almost back to normal,” Jack replied somewhat wistfully.

“But I’m very grateful for Lohil’s help, which helped me regain my senses,” he continued, though he felt a bit disappointed, he hadn’t lost his rationality like Ossuna did.

Today, Jack was dressed in a simple white shirt with a light blue jacket over it, looking rather ordinary compared to his commanding presence just a few days ago when he directed the entire school.

“Everything started that night when I was conducting experiments in the lab,” Jack recounted. After the experiment failed, he felt disheartened and sat alone in a corner, only to encounter an unknown woman.

“How did she introduce herself?” Lolan Hill asked curiously.

“In the darkness of the lab, I couldn’t see her face, only hear her voice,” Jack described.

“She first asked what I was researching, then talked about high-level knowledge of magic sequences.”

This unknown woman seemed to be highly proficient in magic sequences and knew a vast amount. She told Jack that many technologies derived from magic sequences were not newly created but had been used by humans in ancient times. We were merely rediscovering them.

She then listed numerous examples and asked if Jack was willing to follow the path of the ancients.

Lost and desperate, Jack naturally agreed and received a special power seed and a series of unique knowledge.

“Later, following her instructions, I gradually expanded the group of followers, bringing more people into it.”

“Who would have thought this was a poison wrapped in sugar,” he said as he drank the water in front of him, gazing out the window at the bright afternoon sunlight, which made the world appear white, with bees hovering over small flowers in the vines.

“Still, I will make amends by giving the antidote provided by Lohil to the members of the association. Although their strength will decline temporarily, it’s better than being trapped in a deep abyss.”

“Thank you, Senior,” Lohil nodded in gratitude. Today, she wore a white blouse with a black pleated skirt, a slender rope necklace peeking out from her neck, with the pendant hidden inside her blouse.

Unlike the Fortress Academy, with Jack as the leader, the process of removing the infection among students proceeded smoothly and directly, encountering no major obstacles.

In the observatory room of the book.

The condensed gem layer exploded, and Agatha emerged, holding a jade staff that had cracked slightly. This relic of Dorothy seemed to be reaching its limits.

“You finally came out,” Chris remarked. All the witches present were ancient acquaintances who knew each other well. If not for Agatha’s special authority and her manipulation of Ossuna, exchanging parts of their abilities to gain additional infection talents, none of this should have caused such a significant impact.

Several witches were preparing to subdue the deeply obsessed Agatha, but she had anticipated this. Her jade staff shattered completely, and the surrounding space seemed to enter a state of time distortion.

Everything became extremely slow. Chris raised her leg, and her pink princess dress floated in the air, seemingly frozen. The Night Mistress pressed her hand on the page of the book, her mouth slightly open as if wanting to say something, yet no sound escaped. Services held a deep blue gem, emitting a faint glow, but showed no further reaction.

Agatha watched this scene, her face twisted into a bitter smile, then her body turned into colorful particles, contracting and spinning rapidly, drawing in the surrounding magic like a storm.

This vortex rapidly expanded, spreading across the entire sky in an instant. Students within Emanas witnessed a sight they might never see again.

The azure sky seemed emptied, revealing a deep and expansive starry sky. The sun, moon, and stars appeared in the same sky. Though the sunlight was blinding, it could not change the deep and dark background of the starry sky. Ancient stars appeared before the crowd in their most primitive and true forms.

Mana and magic within a radius of nearly a hundred kilometers flowed toward the dazzling vortex above the academy. A tiny black hole was forming, and everyone below felt their magic becoming extremely unstable, as if trying to break free and fly into the vortex.

In the depths of the underground laboratory beneath the central school building, the floor suddenly exploded, and a gray figure leaped upward, ascending into the sky.

At the bottom of the lake within the Fortress Academy, a red light flashed, and a black shadow seemed to flicker through layers of space, appearing above the academy.

Together, they barely protected the academy below, but the tiny black hole above seemed to be expanding, its suction force growing stronger. The surrounding space was beginning to fragment, and vision was distorted into a chaotic mess.

This suffocating gathering and operation of magic seemed to have opened something, and a wave of chaotic energy began to emerge within the vortex.

Trouble, she’s opening a new Chaotic Vortex.

This thought appeared in the minds of the three Sequence 9s present, but unfortunately, even realizing it now was too late.

The three witches were immobilized in that small segment of spacetime, and it would take a few seconds for them to break free. The two hurriedly summoned Sequence 9 sages had no targeted means to suppress the suddenly appearing chaotic vortex.

It seemed everything was entering a countdown to destruction.

In a few short seconds, huge rocks, trees, soil, debris, were swept up by the fierce wind and gravity, drawing toward the sky. The sky was obscured by swirling sand and dust.

Under the cold gale brought about by one of the witches’ self-destructive explosion, everything in Emanas was covered in a layer of dark shadows.

Happy Lantern Festival!
