Chapter 385 ‘Warm Welcome’
As dusk approached, a large number of students gathered by the lakeside at the Fortress Academy. Since the surroundings were covered with forest and dead branches and fallen leaves, some people collected them and started a series of bonfires.
The weather in May was not cold, so the bonfires weren’t very big. Most people sat around chatting idly, easing the previously tense atmosphere. Meanwhile, the members of the joint club only restrained everyone from leaving this area, without imposing further restrictions.
“How about catching some fish? We can have grilled fish for dinner.”
Looking at the tranquil lake surface, a student proposed, and soon everyone became hungry. Although eating meals was ordinary, cooking together in the wild had its unique charm.
After deciding, several people began catching fish. They first whittled down thin wooden rods and held them in their hands, quickly inserting them into the water, drawing out one or two fish.
Soon after, the aroma of grilled fish wafted by the lakeside, followed by the laughter and joy of the students.
However, the atmosphere inside the Fortress was completely different.
Yan Liuyan, wearing an armband, was accompanied by over ten similarly dressed members, briskly moving through the corridors.
Since he woke up, he naturally understood what had happened before. He felt extremely ashamed that he had been deceived by a little girl, almost asking others to forget everything that happened recently.
To distance himself from his previous actions and reshape his image, he now served as the top general under the ‘Black Lotus,’ specifically responsible for capturing and dealing with those who strayed off the path.
Of course, as he made arrests, his subordinates also increased in number.
Everyone was the same; no one should mock anyone else. Quickly silence this person who keeps shouting.
Please, don’t say those things anymore; they just remind me of my previous immature black history.
With the mindset of eliminating past crimes and black history, this group worked particularly hard to capture their former peers, excited?
The rooms and dormitories inside the Fortress were numerous, but during the day, the student council and representatives of various clubs had repeatedly called out and notified. Those who hadn’t left the gates were most likely die-hard followers of the ‘Black Veil.’
Previously bustling corridors were now empty, except for the flower chandeliers hanging overhead still shining brightly.
“Search!”
After checking each hall and room, the group arrived at the key inspection area—the dormitory zone.
Upon Yan Liuyan’s command, two members brought out a long string of keys and opened the doors along the corridor one by one. Several members immediately entered to search, checking if any students or others had been overlooked.
“Normal!”
“No one here.”
“One bird and one cat,” came a different response from one group.
“Small animals don’t need to be bothered with.”
“Close the doors of empty rooms and seal them.”
“Yes.”
Two members at the rear took out special seals and affixed them to the doors. Once these seals were damaged, they would emit a special vibration that could be sensed within a few kilometers.
Once sealed, if someone tried to sneak back into the rooms to hide, the seals would trigger, alerting nearby individuals.
Most dormitories and rooms were normal, with no students inside, but some were different.
“The door is locked,” a member shouted, holding a special potted plant that emitted a faint glow.
Instantly, a group of people turned their eyes towards him, their gazes like wolves in the grasslands, filled with ill intent.
“I’ll handle this,” a strong-looking member stepped forward.
“No, I’ll do it,” a taller and stronger student approached.
“Shh, keep your voices down, don’t scare the person,” another member behind quickly stopped them. After a brief whispered discussion, a plain-looking member with a weak voice was chosen.
He walked to the door and gently knocked, then spoke.
“Hello, is anyone inside?”
There was no response inside the room.
He continued knocking and said, “Hello, actually, I’m also a member of the ‘Black Veil.’ I’ve come to contact everyone because Miss Ausuna has returned and is gathering everyone.”
“If you don’t believe me, I can tell you the time I joined and the people I knew. There were…”
He listed several names, all former club members, and recounted detailed events within the club, which seemed very convincing.
At this moment, a slight sound came from inside the room, followed by the turning of the lock mechanism. A slit appeared in the door, and a cautious eye peered outside.
“Really? Has everyone returned?”
“Yes,” the student outside revealed a warm and kind smile.
On both sides of the corridor door, eight strong members stood against the wall, holding their breath, looking up at the ceiling, with a strange smile on their lips.
“Come in and talk in detail. It’s fine, they’ve all gone away to notify others,” the male student continued.
The student inside the room peered through the door crack for a while.
“Alright,” he carefully opened the door.
Suddenly, a pair of iron-like hands grabbed his wrist. He looked up in shock, and the kind student from before had transformed, his expression excited, a mad grin on his face.
“Go, brothers!”
The student inside struggled fiercely. Crimson magic power appeared in his pupils, and red light marks resembling claws appeared on his fingertips.
But.
There were more people outside.
Several members with fierce faces rushed into the dormitory like gorillas, pinning the student down. One held his hand, another his foot, and then a hearty embrace was delivered, pressing the student firmly to the ground.
The pinned student’s clothes were disheveled, shouting desperately.
“No! Help!”
“Who are you? Don’t come closer!!!”
“Ah, don’t do this!”
He felt dizzy and disoriented, drenched in sweat. That overwhelming physical collision was like a lily blooming, his ears filled with rough breathing sounds.
“No, stop,” he struggled fiercely.
Outside the corridor, Yan Liuyan, holding a knife, slowly entered the dormitory, watching the strange scene of the intertwined figures, rubbing his forehead.
“Cough, although we’re executing our duties, everyone should try to remain human.”
“Boss, you don’t understand. This is our newly invented welcome ceremony.”
“Huh, is there such a thing?”
“Yes, boss. Think about it, only such a special ceremony can deeply touch the heart, break the stubborn preconceptions, and make him re-recognize the world.”
“After he wakes up, he will surely thank everyone for their help and enthusiastically engage in our cause!” The student spoke with increasing righteousness, though the smile on his lips seemed out of place.
“Fine, suddenly feel old, can’t understand the young people’s thoughts.” Yan Liuyan took out a potion and had a member feed it to the student, then returned to the corridor to continue monitoring other rooms.
The member fed the potion to the student, and watched as he stopped struggling, seemingly exhausted, then fell unconscious.
But the members present knew that this was just the beginning, and soon they would gain another good brother.
