Chapter 380: The End of the Chaos
After dealing with the opponents inside the Temple Academy, there were only eight remaining contestants from the academy besides Lolan Hill. Although they were all elites at Sequence 6, capable of transforming into angel-like forms, their numbers were still too few.
Previously, they managed to defeat Ousuna’s group by leveraging the advantages of the battlefield, thoroughly suppressing their opponents within the domain they had established. However, if they were to fight outside in the vast sky and earth, the effectiveness of Lolan Hill’s domain would be significantly reduced.
After Ousuna and her team entered the Temple Academy and did not come out for a long time, those waiting outside gradually noticed something was amiss and began discussing and deliberating among themselves.
The students from the Fortress Academy who stayed behind were mostly Naturals. Their leader was Red Sail, holding a slender red rose bow. This person was also the president of the ‘Red Dye Painting’ club.
“President, the members of ‘Black Veil’ have not come out since entering the Temple Academy. It seems there aren’t many people left behind here. Could something unexpected have happened?”
Red Sail sat on the eaves, gazing at the silent Temple Academy in the distance, fell silent for a moment, then stood up.
“We retreat.”
“Retreat?” His subordinates were somewhat puzzled. Wasn’t this precisely the time when they had the upper hand? Besides, the competition was supposed to last only one day.
“Yes.” Red Sail didn’t want to explain anything. Under his leadership, the archers of the Naturals began to leave the Temple Academy under the cover of night, dispersing into the wilderness. Those currently left at the scene were only the members of the High Tower Academy.
Jack watched these students from the Fortress Academy leave, slightly frowning, but he didn’t try to stop them. He naturally understood why they left.
After Ousuna entered, there was no news. She was likely in dire straits and had failed. With so many elites lost here, it was clear that the opponents inside the Temple Academy were formidable. If they attacked forcefully, they also had to worry about the High Tower Academy turning against them from behind. Thus, they decided to leave.
This way, they could preserve their strength temporarily and also put their minds at ease, allowing them to fully attack the Temple Academy’s base. Regardless of which side won, it would deplete a large amount of strength. At that point, they could return and tidy up the situation.
But Jack knew that even if he saw through their intentions, he could only jump in. He couldn’t afford to be as indifferent as them towards winning the championship. If he retreated to the High Tower Academy himself, the result would only be a draw, which he found unacceptable.
He could only launch a forceful attack. He silently repeated this in his heart, then raised his hand, signaling the golems behind him to prepare.
One golem after another lined up neatly on the street, magic power circulating through the engravings on their surface, absorbing and compressing mana around them, continuously condensing. Then, these golems lifted their black, deep cannons, adjusting their angles under the direction of the mages.
“Fire!”
With a downward swing of his right hand, a cyan light column struck the distant Temple Academy as if it were solid matter.
Even though these golems were only around Sequence 4-5, their sheer number formed a massive force.
The intense light column directly pierced the Temple Academy’s roof and eaves, causing stone blocks to explode and fly, triggering a collapse. The fallen debris blocked the entrance of the Temple Academy, stirring up clouds of dust.
These golems did not stop firing until most of the structure collapsed, and spherical barriers emerged from the dust, gradually halting their attacks.
The mages of the High Tower Academy stood behind the golems, watching the chief mage on the eaves, awaiting his next command.
Soon, several dragons flew across the sky toward the opposite site, seemingly preparing to carefully investigate.
However, these dragons circled the ruins for a long time without discovering anything special, only seeing some fallen Fortress Academy students protected by small barriers. Suppressing their doubts, the dragons slowly descended, intending to clear away the rubble and check if the Temple Academy’s flag was still present.
Stones tumbled, making faint sounds, creating a quiet scene until a dragon uncovered a bell-shaped golden shield at the innermost layer. Six ‘angels’ spread their wings, circling around to protect the three in the center, with a silver-haired girl with a black veil being the central figure. Behind the girl, the Temple Academy’s flag remained intact.
Seeing this, the dragons flapped their wings, wanting to leave and call their companions. But it was too late; the ‘angels’ transformed into streaks of light and flew into the sky. Under Lolan Hill’s domain enhancement, they collectively attacked, bringing down the remaining dragons from the High Tower Academy.
From afar, Jack saw this and felt relieved rather than disappointed. He was not afraid of difficult enemies but feared them staying out of sight, leaving his side uncertain of what to do.
He ordered again, and the golems began to charge energy, brilliant particles gathering in the air, illuminating the night sky.
Facing the impending barrage, Lolan Hill was not entirely helpless. The silver-haired girl waved her feather wand again, and a breeze composed of light particles swept across the land, spreading in all directions. Although the Temple Academy had collapsed, the Temple Academy lacked nothing in terms of temples. Each temple was a complete and powerful magic array.
Since the other side disregarded past rules and used various means recklessly, the Temple Academy would not give up its advantage in the venue.
As the light wind spread, temples lit up one by one, beams of light rising into the night sky, interconnecting. The magic sequence’s particles were greatly suppressed, and the powerful barrage of light columns were deflected by the ‘angels’ using prismatic walls, scattering into the night sky.
Then, these prisms were penetrated by lightning flows cast by the mages, and two ‘angels’ withdrew from the scene.
It was getting tough. Lolan Hill held her staff, sensing the activated temple arrays around her, inwardly sighing.
Although she was talented, she had only advanced to Sequence 4 as an Angel. With the support of a crystal-grade staff, she could barely generate such a vast domain, reaching her limit.
More and more angel sequence magic power was being gathered, making her feel increasingly strained, like trying to control the sea with a tiny oar, becoming harder to manage.
Taking a deep breath, Lolan Hill closed her eyes, clenched her staff with her left hand, raised her right, pointed her index finger to the sky, and briefly displayed the golden patterns of sun and wings on her forehead before forcefully swinging her hand down.
Swords of pure white appeared inverted in the sky, then split into halves, doubling into fours, covering the entire sky.
[Light Seal Sword · Downpour]
The white swords fell like threads, not moving quickly, yet wherever they passed, time seemed to slow down. Blue magic particles, surging lightning, and fired light columns appeared to freeze.
Jack, in the midst of the array, felt as if moving even a sliver of magic power was as heavy as a thousand jin, and the incantations he spoke seemed to vanish without effect. The golems in front of him were stuck, as if frozen, watching helplessly as the remaining ‘angels’ flew over and struck down his subordinates.
In anger and frustration, he pushed his magic power again, but choked in his chest, almost spitting out blood.
Finally, the six ‘angels’ took advantage of the brief seconds when the opponent’s magic power was sealed, launching a fierce assault, quickly defeating the remaining twenty-odd mages of the High Tower Academy. Once the seal sword’s effect dissipated, there were no more standing High Tower mages.
After casting such a vast and wide-range spell, Lolan Hill felt exhausted, her body weak, and she sat down on a stone amidst the rubble, looking at the battle in the distance.
Unexpectedly, a dark red arrow pierced through the rubble, approaching from afar and directly aiming at the girl.
Lolan Hill quickly dodged, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow, blood splattering, a cut appearing on her arm, and her body falling to the ground. The few ‘angels’ in front saw this, their eyes widening, wings flapping like comets cutting through the night sky, carrying white flame light toward the center of the rubble.
But another wave of arrows shot out from the shadows, hitting the ‘angels’. Feathers flew, blood splattered, two ‘angels’ withdrew immediately, and the remaining four lowered their altitude, flying close to the ground to reach Lolan Hill’s fallen location.
These archers emerged slowly from the shadows. They were the Fortress Academy students who pretended to leave earlier.
“Sorry, although it’s not very honorable.” Red Sail stepped forward with his longbow, and another round of shots followed, the bowstrings vibrating urgently, dark red feathered arrows striking like snake tongues.
But this time, they did not achieve the expected results.
The red arrows seemed to be suspended in mid-air, then scattered to the ground. In Red Sail’s astonished gaze, the silver-haired girl stood up again, seemingly unharmed except for the bloodstains on her black veil.
Everything happened too fast, and the group led by Red Sail had no time to retreat.
Protected by the ‘angels’, Lolan Hill swung her staff, a vast gale of light sweeping across, illuminating the dark night sky.
