Chapter 38: The Set-up of Krul
Facing the title of “Dragon-Slaying Warrior” bestowed by Airael, Sally felt quite embarrassed.
If the dragon is a symbol of power, then the Dragon-Slaying Warrior undoubtedly represents an even mightier title.
Sally knew that while she was strong now, she still wasn’t qualified to slay a true dragon.
Without further ado, let’s return our gaze to the banquet hall, where the two main characters had departed but the atmosphere remained lively.
Elven gentlemen and ladies were chatting with smiles on their faces.
Lord Mason was no exception.
Surrounded by several elven gentlemen, one suddenly asked, “My Lord, do you think Admiral Krul can hold off the human forces?”
The other elves perked up, eager for Mason’s answer.
Although they didn’t ask directly, this question weighed heavily on their minds.
If Krul faltered, the human army would be at the gates of Silnas Island, and then it’d be Menas City next.
“We must believe in Admiral Krul! Although the human army is strong, we elves are no weaklings, and Admiral Krul is a master at the twelfth level!” Mason replied with a grin.
He appeared to have great confidence in Krul’s abilities.
This put the other elves at ease.
They might have had some confidence themselves, but hearing such words from someone like Mason solidified their inner assurance.
If Lord Mason said that, then surely everything would be fine, right?
However, the very Krul they were pinning their hopes on was nearly at his wits’ end.
With time running short, he couldn’t afford a moment of rest and had been working through the night.
His tasks were already overwhelming, and then news arrived.
Their Your Majesty would be joining the war effort.
While she would heed his commands to avoid burdening him too much, it nevertheless escalated Krul’s pressure tremendously.
While engaging in battle, he also needed to ensure the safety of Your Majesty.
At that moment, Krul had led his troops to the first defense line he’d set against the human army.
There lay an uninhabited island.
Krul intended to use this island as a base to intercept the human forces.
Inside the military camp on the island.
“Admiral! The magic arrays have been set up all over the island.”
A messenger swift-footed into the makeshift wooden hut where Krul was studying a map, turning his back to him.
Before Krul hung a map, which was a defense blueprint of the elven army.
Upon hearing this, Krul responded while still focusing on the map, “Since it’s done, let’s activate the magic arrays to see how they perform.”
“Understood!”
The messenger immediately withdrew to relay Krul’s orders.
Before long, a massive blue magic array illuminated the center of the island.
Under the summoning of the magic array, countless magical elements nearby began to gather like mad.
The vast movement of magical elements prompted a shift in the surrounding natural environment.
Dark clouds gathered in the sky, forming a giant vortex above the magic array.
Meanwhile, fierce winds howled, and waves mercilessly crashed against the island and the ships anchored nearby.
Animals on the island and in the sea trembled at this sudden turn of events.
Krul, now outside, remained calm as he observed these anomalies.
He gently closed his eyes, carefully sensing the magical elements around him.
In his perception, the nearby magical elements were all drawn toward the center of the island.
The concentration of magical elements was at its peak.
At the center of the island, where the massive magic array stood, Moreya and over a hundred elven mages of at least the seventh level stood quietly, unfazed by external disturbances.
As the Grand Mage of the Elven Race, Moreya was certainly not one to sit idle; she personally led the mages to the front line to fight the enemy.
Nearby, the rich, potent magical elements were all set, just waiting for their command.
“It’s ready now; everyone, halt!”
Moreya commanded.
With her order given, the elven mages immediately retracted their magical powers.
Without magic power to sustain it, the blue magic array vanished instantly.
The surrounding magical elements dispersed rapidly, and the nearby disruptions soon settled as well.
In the evening light, if one looked closely, they would find a gigantic magic array drawn on the ground beneath Moreya and the others.
What they had just done was inject their magical power into this huge magic array on the ground.
With magic power, the massive array would activate, gathering nearby magical elements for Moreya and the others to utilize.
Then, they could wield these magical elements to unleash formidable War Magic against the impending human army.
Moreover, since the magic array had already been drawn out in advance, all they had to do was input their magic and control the magic manifestation.
This was evidently an easier task for them.
Thus, this island transformed into a powerful magical fortress ready to attack.
After they finished up, many mages appeared somewhat reluctant.
While they knew they would become incredibly strong with the assistance of the large magic array, the sensation they felt just now had far exceeded their expectations.
So powerful!
Moreya silently watched them.
She understood their thoughts.
Unfortunately, they were unaware that if their strength were even greater, the feeling they had just experienced would be far more intense than what they had already felt.
Not far away, Krul opened his eyes. Although no specific news had yet arrived, through distant perception, he gathered a general result.
The successful setup of the magic array made Krul breathe a sigh of relief.
Powerful magic was one of the key advantages of the Elven Race against others, and it was an extremely important advantage.
If this wasn’t utilized well, then the Elven Race would practically have lost half the battle.
Leveraging it effectively could significantly enhance the elves’ chances of victory.
The night passed peacefully.
The following morning, the sun slowly rose from the eastern horizon.
Airael and the elves got up early, making their way to the port area.
Next, they would board ships to cross over to Silnas Island.
Lord Mason also arrived early at the port with a group to bid farewell to Airael and the others.
Fortunately, the banquet didn’t last too late the previous night; otherwise, some elves would have undoubtedly wanted to stay in bed!
